The Buick Envision is powered by a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 motor. The compact size of the motor packs-in quite a surprise in terms of power and torque output. The motor generates a maximum of 252 horsepower and 260lb-ft of torque.
The power figures are excellent considering the size of the power train and the performance is right on point for a compact crossover SUV. The motor remains stress-free most of the time in city driving conditions and out on the highway, it makes good use of its 260lb-ft of torque output and gets to cruising speed rather quickly. The 6-speed automatic transmission works like a charm and will give you the perfect gear almost every time.

The Acura RDX goes for a good old V6 motor for a punchy performance but as compared to the Buick Envision, it is not much of an improvement. Moreover, the Envision has a higher torque output than the RDX despite having a much smaller engine. THE Volvo XC60 implements a rather unconventional engine layout and comes with a straight-five motor with turbocharging. It offers almost similar performance as the Buick Envision.
The Buick Envision SUV does surprise the fuel economy department as well after its performance. It comes with a decent 20mpg of city mileage and 26mpg of highway mileage. The combined mpg is rated at 22.

The Acura RDX does a great job of offering a better fuel economy than the Envision despite housing a bigger and more powerful V6 motor. The Volvo XC60’s I-5 motor manages to return the least fuel economy numbers as compared to the rivals on the list.
The 2016 Buick Envision comes in an almost fully loaded form right out from the factory, hence you’ll find abundant features inside the cabin along with several high-quality and two-tone wood trim. The interiors do feel quite premium and plush but after some time, the rivals feel better in terms of overall fit and finish levels.Â
The front seats are quite comfortable and offer superb cushioning for both long and short trips while the split-folding rear seats do come with a sliding mechanism that allows adjusting according to the user’s preference. The cargo capacity with the rear seats upright is at 26.9 cu-ft and with it folded down, it increases to 57.3 cu-ft.

The Acura RDX might feel a little less spacious than the Envision on paper, but it is just the opposite and comes with better interior quality and comfort levels than the Buick Envision SUV. The Volvo XC60 boasts a robust interior with excellent fit and finish levels and a spacious cabin but falls short in front of the other two owing to its compact dimensions.
The infotainment system of the Envision is quite feature-loaded and comes with the Intellilink touchscreen interface. In general usage, the system is pretty responsive and easy to use with crisp and colorful images.
The system integrates a unique 4G LTE data connectivity and mobile Wi-Fi. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are touted to be added in the next model year.
Some highlighted features of the infotainment system are:
From the outside, the Buick Envision looks as appealing as it looks on the inside. It comes with some tasteful chrome treatment on the outside with a chrome front grille and chrome inserts above the fog lamps.
The headlamp units look quite stylish with an LED DRL strip and projector setup. The hood is quite high and gives a commanding visibility forward. There is a nice sculpted design that runs from the front fenders till the rear fenders and brings out a distinctive styling language.

The Acura RDX looks more premium with a modern and sporty design language but has a low ground clearance. The Volvo XC60 features a matured and elegant design that is not too flashy as the RDX or the Envision but makes the SUV stand out from the crowd in a good way.
The Buick Envision comes with some class-leading safety scores and this alone helps it to secure its position in the market to quite some extent. The NHTSA rated it a perfect 5-star and the IIHS gave it their best possible “Good” rating and also awarded it with the most prestigious Top Safety Pick + award. The standard safety aids of the SUV include anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and front knee airbags. OnStar emergency communications, which includes automatic crash notification, an emergency call button and a stolen vehicle locator is also offered as standard.
Important safety features of the Envision SUV are:
The Buick Envision crossover poses as an attractive vehicle in the compact crossover segment by offering a perfect blend of performance with comfort and fuel economy. The price of the SUV might be on the higher side, but it is justified with the long list of features and excellent safety scores, a rarity among the segment.
