The Kia Forte comes in three body styles, namely sedan, coupe, and hatchback. It comes with a 1.8 Liter engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. There is another engine on offer to suffice your power requirements. The interior is nice and spacious but it lacks handling abilities.

The suspension system is not that great as the ride quality gets compromised while running on bad patches of roads. However, the cargo space is very good, which makes it a very practical sedan. In the segment, it faces stiff competition from the Mazda 3, the Buick Verano, and the Honda Civic.

We would recommend you to go with the EX trim, which is the top end one. Though it is priced higher than the base trim with a difference of $4,000, it is more value for money. For the price, you get a much peppier engine, unlike the LX which has a 1.8 Liter unit. The EX has a 2.0 Liter unit and produces higher horsepower. Alongside, it has all the cool features like power-adjustable seats and a navigation system which are absent in the LX.

As the acceleration time for the Buick Verano is unavailable, we could not shed light as to how much the engine of the Buick contributes to this segment. However, the Mazda 3 impresses us with its 7.0 secs acceleration time in 0-60 mph and scoring the highest in the segment.

The sedan with its 1.8 Liter engine returns a mileage of 25 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined. Being a lower capacity engine, we had expectations that the Kia would perform much better, but it does disappoint to some extent.

Kia has always strived to provide its customers with a feature-packed, practical, and comfortable cabin at a pocket-friendly price tag, and the 2016 Kia Forte interior is a fine example. As common with sedans, there is a seating capacity of 5 people at the most inside the cabin of the Forte. Cloth upholstery comes as standard, but people wanting a luxury feel can opt for the leather upholstery.
