Overall Rating
Volkswagen Eos is a brilliant and solid built convertible. It has a folding metal hardtop, which makes for a much sturdier and better-insulated cabin than a soft-top convertible.
Volkswagen Eos is a brilliant and solid built convertible. It has a folding metal hardtop, which makes for a much sturdier and better-insulated cabin than a soft-top convertible. That should be expected from Volkswagen, as it has never been a company that makes poorly built products, even though they sometimes lie about their diesel engine emissions. VW might not produce more of it from 2017, and the 2016 model is the last production model available for the Eos.
As there is just a single trim available, you aren't really hard-pressed to make a choice

There are not many options available when it comes to the trim levels. There is just one trim level available loaded with premium luxury features and active safety features. The Komfort trim level comes with the top features such as smooth, folding hardtop, gloss-back blades, rear diffuser, and a sliding glass sunroof.
This trim level will give you everything you want and expect from a convertible luxury coupe. However, if you want options in terms of engine or transmission, you will not get them. You might want to consider other cars in the same segment if you wish to have the freedom of choosing from different engine options.

The solid build structure comes from the Eos' Jetta/Golf roots, which also contribute to this little drop-top's sedan-like ride and handling. Although not as nimble and tossable as a Fiat 500 or Mini Cooper, the Eos has a kind of solidity and stability you won't find with many of its smaller rivals. -Kelley Blue Book
Volkswagen Eos features a 2.0L inline-4 engine rated at 200 horsepower. The engine produces a torque of 207 pound-feet. You get a 6-speed automatic transmission paired with a dual-clutch system for the best driving experience.
Coming to the performance of the car, the engine is decent and thus, but you will not get the top performance in that. However, the time taken by the car to pick up from 0 mph speed is more than the others. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in the span of 7.3 seconds. the braking system of the car is also decent which is an important parameter for the reliability rating. The rivals have better engine design which allows faster pick up and thus, a lesser amount of time is taken to reach from 0 to 60 mph.
Eos gives a good delivery of speed even on the city roads beside the highways. If you have the hard top on, the cabin remains silent without much exterior noise, but if you have the roof folded, you will find some noise from the exhaust and the engine at high speeds, along with the irritating wind noise.

Volkswagen Eos features a smart engine and thus, fuel economy is the plus point here. On the city roads, you can get an average of 22 mpg. Whereas, on the highways, the average can touch up to 30 mpg. The car thus gives a combined average of 26 on both highways and the city roads. If good quality fuel is used as recommended, you will get better performance and higher gas mileage on the city roads too. This way the life of the engine can be increased and a lot can be saved on the fuel too.

Functionally, it can be a hardtop coupe with seating for four in one moment and, at the push of a button, become a full-blown convertible in the next. For full sun exposure, the top retracts in 25 seconds. -Edmunds
The interiors of this car are its best part. They are designed in such a way that you will feel that you have accidentally signed up for a luxury coupe. The driver seat is a little laid back like the other VWs such as Beetle and Golf, but feels plush and better bolstered. The front seats of the car are the most comfortable. You get an ample amount of legroom and headroom while on the front seats. The rear feels a little tight, and the legroom is cramped. This car can be best used as a 2-seater car.

The Eos offers 2+2 seating in a vehicle halfway between a compact and mid-size car, and its lines flirt with the edge of the luxury market. -The Car Connection
Exteriors of the car are a little old but they use the fancy lamps and a boxy design to give it a somewhat retro-classic appeal. There are halogen reflector-lens fog lamps for the best vision during the fog and corner illuminating lights better visibility on the outside. There are LED taillights paired with the chrome dual-tipped exhausts. You can also find a rear diffuser, although it's just there for visual appeal. With the folding hardtop, you can enjoy the wind in your hair when the weather's perfect.

2016 Volkswagen Eos and Audi A3 Cabriolet
If fuel economy is of primary importance to you while buying any car., then this comparison should draw your attention. When we talk about Eos, a combined average of 26 MPG, and the Audi A3 Cabriolet, you can get a combined average of 28 mpg. However, for Audi A3 Cabriolet, you will have to invest in a few grand more, and you don't get a metal roof. What you get though, is bragging rights of owning an Audi, and for some people, that's all that matters.
Volkswagen Eos is one of the most affordable luxury convertible available at the lower end of the market. If you want to go for other luxury convertibles such as BMW Z4 and others, you will have to spend a lot more than what you are spending here. Moreover, there are little drawbacks or flaws, and it delivers a great driving experience on the highways as well as on the city roads, even in heavy traffic and tight roads.
