Due to the overly expensive price tag, it is only the base V8 model that at least tries to bring value for money into the equation. The engine in itself is sporty enough for the vehicle. The standard list of features includes all the practical features that even a millionaire would expect from his car.

There are two engine options and 4 power options, each one specific to a trim. The Bentley Flying Spur V8 features a twin-turbocharged 4.0 V8 motor producing 500 hp and 487 lb-ft torque. The V8S has the same engine making 521hp and 501 lb-ft of torque.

Then comes the W12 trim which comes with a twin-turbocharged W12 engine making 616hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Then comes the same W12S trim having the same twin-turbocharged W12 engine making 626hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come with an 8-speed automatic which manages and directs all the power to all the wheels.

In comparison to rivals, the Bentley is the least powerful car in the segment. The most powerful in the segment is the Audi S8 with 605 hp on tap. The 2nd spot goes out with the Merc AMG S63 following closely with 577 hp with the Porsche Panamera with 550 hp following closely.

On paper, the Flying Spur is again the slowest car in a 0-60 mph spring taking about 4.3 seconds The fastest being the Porsche Panamera with 3.0 seconds. Second, in line is the Audi S8 at 3.3 seconds and then there is Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 with 3.8 seconds.

The Bentley Flying Spur is one of the very rare vehicles that allow you to cruise at high speeds while sitting in the lap of luxury. There is a color touchscreen display present and it has all the basics like radio, navigation (internal system) which also has a voice command system to it. The radio is simple AM/FM and comes with Bluetooth wireless connectivity as the only phone connectivity option. 

There is no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. But, there is a rear seat remote climate control tablet. The good part is there are a simple touchscreen and a few buttons making it easy to understand and do. There is an 8-speaker sound system by Naim to make you deaf.

The Bentley Flying Spur has a trunk space of 16.7 cu-ft. This is a good amount of space and can hold your everyday items and even a couple of suitcases in the trunk. The rear seats do not fold down to open up more space for any additional cargo, but let’s face it, you are not taking this to your local Ikea for furniture shopping.

The largest trunk space belongs to the Porsche Panamera Turbo which has 17.4 cu-ft. of space. Then comes the Bentley Flying Spur with 16.7 cu-ft. of space, Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 (16.3 cu-ft) of space, and then comes the Audi S8 Plus with the least amount of space 14.2 cu-ft.

In terms of the exterior, the new Bentley Flying Spur comes with a lot of features and this varies according to the trim. All trims get the options of 21” alloy wheels in multiple designs and finishes, the speed versions get gloss black painted wheels too. 

Then there are the Mulliner exterior design finishes which can be added to your Flying Spur. You do have a rear lip spoiler on all too. Depending on your trim you will get black or chrome window surrounds grille and exterior highlights. There are Bi-Xenon headlamps and LED daytime time running lights.

The Bentley Flying Spur is of similar dimensions to the other cars above, except for the Porsche Panamera which is 10-inches shorter than the Bentley. The next big difference is the weight, the Bentley is the heaviest car of the above weighing in at 5,329 pounds which is nearly 500 pounds more than the next heaviest car the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 which weighs 4,806 pounds.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 does come with much better performance. However, the Bentley Flying Spur is much more luxurious and more spacious than the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 and does provide much better features on the inside with individual zone climate controls and a tablet to control it from the back seat. Features like this make the Bentley Flying Spur a much better option.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo like the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 is better in performance and is cheaper than the Bentley. However, Bentley does offer the most legroom and space in the interior and the most amount of luxury. To get a similar amount of luxury in a Porsche Panamera Turbo the price does rise quite quickly.

The Audi S8 is the most powerful of the competition to the Bentley, but, in its top of the line spec, the Bentley is more powerful. However, the Bentley Flying Spur is a full luxury car compared to the Audi S8.

The Bentley’s interior sets the car apart, even though the Audi does provide a lot of luxury features but, compared to the Bentley, the Audi does not come close to it. 

The Bentley Flying Spur is more a statement than a limo. When you buy a Bentley you don't just buy a car, you buy the entire experience of exclusivity and extravagance.
