Overall Rating
2017 Chrysler 200 received a generation change in 2015. It is powered by a 184-horsepower engine in the base model. The power is adequate for city commutes but it can be underwhelming to drive on the highways.
2017 Chrysler 200 received a generation change in 2015. It is powered by a 184-horsepower engine in the base model. The power is adequate for city commutes but it can be underwhelming to drive on the highways.
The Chrysler 200 offers a good mix of safety features and a premium interior build. It is a strong contender in midsize sedan segment. It goes up against Ford Fusion, Subaru Legacy and Toyota Camry.
The base trims of the 200 offer decent features but if you are the kind of person who look for more comfort then you can switch to the Limited Platinum trim as it not only adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat but also an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system.

The base trims of the 200 offer decent features but if you are the kind of person who looks for more comfort than you can switch to the Limited Platinum trim as it not only adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat but also an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system.
LX and Touring trims of the Chrysler 200 come standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive, and a nine-speed automatic transmission. With 184 horsepower on tap, it isn't a performer, made more prominent by the slow and unexciting gearbox.
The acceleration isn't punchy, but it gets you to speed eventually. The all-wheel-drive versions come equipped with a 3.6-liter V6., which churns out 295 horsepower. They too, however, come fitted with the same 9-speed automatic, which damps the fun factor.

All the cars here have similar stats, such as engine size, power output, and also torque output. Toyota Camry has slightly higher torque than others, but nothing that would tip the scales in its favor.
The base engine has a decent pull and will post decent figures when compared to the immediate competitors. There is quite a lot of torque steer under heavy acceleration though, which damps the fun factor.
The all-wheel-drive variant is free of such problems, and also has better performance due to its V6 power. The base LX took around 8.4 seconds to run from 0-60 mph which is respectable in its class, while the V6's 0-60 acceleration of 6.2 seconds is extremely impressive.

Unlike the four-cylinder, one of the quickest sedans in the class. The Subaru Legacy is the slowest among its rivals taking almost a second more to get to 60 mph from a standstill.
The 200 comes to a stop from 60 mph in 125 feet, which is average for the segment. Moving up the configuration ladder, the V6 version gets better brakes, requiring only 119 feet to come to a halt. The brake pedal feels firm and emergency brakes are applied.

Camry's braking performance hasn't been tested yet but other sedans in the class like Subaru Legacy perform relatively well in comparison to Fusion and 200.
The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine has adequate power for freeways, and driving there is quite fun. Sticking it to the TopGear and cruising down the open road is quite fun, and the handling's good too.The all-wheel-drive system fares much better during the wet season, although the front-wheel-drive variant isn't bad too. The ride is fine too, with only the largest of bumps unsettling the car. You would have to wrestle for control of the wheel, as there is a lot of torque steer.
The 2017 Chrysler 200 has the same efficiency as the last year's model, at 28 mpg combined (23 city/36 highway). The numbers are average for its class but there are other midsize sedans that perform better and can also produce stronger acceleration than the 200. Switching to V6, the mileage of the Chrysler drops to 19/31 mpg city/highway.

Other cars in this segment have similar mileage estimates, which are respectable for these cars. Subaru Legacy has the best economy, owing to its great city efficiency.
The Chrysler 200 can accommodate 5 passengers but the sedan isn't roomy enough and is also smaller than most of its rivals. The headroom might feel a bit tighter, upfront the passengers will have to adjust with less hiproom along with considerably less leg- and headroom in the rear seats.
Tall passengers may find it very hard to sit comfortably in the Chrysler 200, unlike other sedans that have enough room for tall people. The lower sloping roof also restricts visibility.

Among its competitors, the 2017 Subaru Legacy tops the chart with the maximum amount of head and legroom. It is roomier than Toyota Camry and can easily accommodate tall passengers.
The 2017 Chrysler 200 comes with some standard infotainment features and the controls are very easy to use. Among the prominent features of the 200 are:
The 2017 Chrysler 200 sedan comes with 16 cubic feet of storage space which is above average in its class. You'll also find a decent amount of small-item storage inside the car which would suffice most of the daily needs. The amount of trunk space that Subaru Legacy and Toyota Camry has is a bit less than that of Ford Fusion and 200.

The new Chrysler 200 looks quite sophisticated with its arched roofline and flowing headlamp design. It might not be as sporty as others in this list, but it can still hold your attention.
It also is quite heavy, tipping the scales at almost 3 and a half thousand pounds. The size however is quite manageable. With 190 inches between the nose and tail, squeezing in and out of traffic would also be quite easy.

The Fusion and Legacy weigh almost the same as the Chrysler, although the Subaru is just a little bit smaller. Toyota is relatively lighter than the others here, although the length is quite the same. Some of the external features are:
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety(IIHS) has declared the vehicle to be a ‘Top Safety Pick’ and also given the rating of Good in five crash tests. Even the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) has conducted the crash tests and the car has secured a 5-star overall rating. Additionally, it comes pre-equipped with a lot of safety features. Some of them include:
Much like the Chrysler 200, the 2017 Ford Fusion features A roomy, upscale cabin and plenty of storage space. Similarly, both the midsize sedans have underpowered base engines but the Ford Fusion tends to have better steering feedback, stronger brakes, and nimble handling.
However, Fusion's real-world fuel economy may disappoint and its base tech interface can be far more frustrating than rival systems. But considering a higher predicted reliability rating the Fusion walks over Chrysler 200 with a better configuration option and almost within the same price range.
The Subaru Legacy 2.5i comes with standard all-wheel-drive in a segment where it's rare to even be an option which is good news for its buyers. It also has excellent outward visibility with high-tech features which works very well and is widely available through its various configurations.
The Legacy also boasts of top crash test scores and comes well equipped with safety features. Barring its Limited trim, all other variants tend to have stiffer rides than many of its rivals. Subaru Legacy's acceleration is also one of the slowest in its class.
Among the midsize cars, the Toyota Camry is considered one of the best cars that you can purchase as it flaunts an excellent predicted reliability rating coupled with a spacious backseat and a good amount of power from its base engine. The interior is quite comfortable and elegant.
The sedan's outward visibility is better than average and its trim levels have distinct luxury and sports characteristics. Although the Chrysler has more storage area and an easier-to-use infotainment system than the Camry, the Toyota is by far the winner.
The 2017 Chrysler 200 may not be the most popular midsize sedan of the year but the car does have some contrasting but fairly appealing attributes which makes a car worth considering. The exterior of the car looks good and none the less the varying safety features that you'll be getting with this car at a very affordable price make it even more appealing.
