In the engine department, both trims get a 1.4-liter Inline-4 MultiAir 16-Valve Engine with 101 horsepower and 98 pound-feet of torque, while the Abarth trim gets the same engine, but it's turbocharged to produce 160 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are available with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, but one can opt for a 6-speed automatic transmission for an additional premium.

In comparison, Honda Fit features the most powerful engine in this comparison, which is followed by the Ford Fiesta hatchback. The Chevy Spark has the least power and torque output but is also the cheapest car here. The Honda Fit is the most expensive one, costing only around $1,000 more than the Fiat 500.
One does not expect something extraordinary in the acceleration department from a segment with cars like Fiat 500. For the record, the 2017 Fiat 500 has a peppy 1.4-Liter inline-4 engine, which does the 0-60 mph in 10.2 seconds and completes the quarter-mile with a time of 17.9 seconds. The Fiat 500 maxes out 110 mph and it does feel a bit underpowered even for the compact car.

In comparison, the Ford Fiesta is the quickest at 9.2 seconds to 60 mph, which is a full second seconds faster than Fiat 500. In quarter-mile time, however, Fiat 500 does close the gap but still loses by 0.7 seconds to the Ford Fiesta Hatch. Overall, the Fiat 500 is the slowest of the lot while the Honda Fit excels in the quarter-mile and top speed.
It can be called a supermini, which is very useful around town. It is easily maneuverable with decent visibility all around the car. The size plays an important role in the city driving where it is genuinely good. However, it's not as sharp as some of its rivals because the suspension is just too soft. You can really feel the difference on the highway, where this car feels a little wiggly. The cabin is also not very well noise insulated, which lets a lot of road noise inside the car at higher speeds.
The 2017 Fiat 500 hatch weighs in at 2,366 pounds, which is considerably heavy for such a tiny car. But one cannot just judge and tell that kind of weight due to its exterior appearance. It has 10.1 inches front ventilated discs and 9.4 inches discs at the back. The brakes work well but they are not performance ones as they are standard in Abarth trim, and hence the 500 Pop has a braking distance of 128 feet from 60 mph.

In comparison, Ford Fiesta is the heaviest but it also has marginally bigger front brake rotors which translate to a shorter stopping distance. The Chevy Spark is the lightest and also makes use of the smallest set of brakes, yet has the shortest braking distance, while the Honda Fit travels the farthest before coming to halt.
From its 1.4-liter engine, Fiat Pop delivers pretty good fuel efficiency figures. In the city, it delivers 31 mpg and 38 mpg on the highway, while the overall fuel economy is rated at 34 mpg by the EPA. Even with the tiny 10.5-gallon gas tank, the Fiat 500 manages to be driven for around 350 miles of combined city and highway driving, which is more than enough for a city car.

In comparison, Fiat 500 and Chevy Spark offer the best fuel economy figures and have an almost identical fuel efficiency. The Ford Fiesta is the least economical car here while the Honda Fit has a marginally better fuel efficiency than the Fiesta hatch. When comparing the overall range, the 10.5 gallons of fuel tank in 500 Pop helps it to achieve the best in class range of 372 miles.
The 2017 Fiat 500 interior looks very similar to the previous model, but it has been revamped to give way to a new infotainment system. Fiat markets it as a 4-seater, but in reality, it's not a people carrier. The extremely tight space at the back makes it good for a 2-seater configuration. It has a decent passenger volume in the segment of 75.5 cu-ft. It has a good amount of space in the front, but the rear is unforgiving due to the short wheelbase.

In comparison, Honda Fit has the best space upfront and also at the back. This is due to the fact that it's the longest and tallest in the segment, which gives it the best shoulder room upfront and also in the rear. The Ford Fiesta hatch has the most spacious front seats while the Fit offers the best overall space inside its cabin. Major interior features include-
The infotainment has been revamped from the previous model, which was an LCD strip displaying only the audio and a bunch of other stuff. The new one is a 5-inch touchscreen system which has all the audio systems like FM/AM etc. You also have a settings button, which shows a different kind of menu options such as date and time, Bluetooth, door and locks, lights, etc. The touch response is good and provides a user-friendly interface. Few key features include-
The 2017 Fiat 500 has a small boot space of just 9.5 cu-ft, but when needed, fold the rear seats and the cargo carrying capacity is tripled to a maximum of 30.1 cu-ft. The rear seats are anyways too cramped and are hardly usable, so one can use them for carrying groceries and luggage when needed.

When comparing cargo volumes, Honda Fit has the largest space at 16.6 inches, and when seats are folded down, it increases massively to 52.7 inches. Spark has better space than Fiat 500 at 11.1 inches with all seats up but Fiat 500 has more space when rear seats are folded down 30.1 inches to be exact. With rear seats folded, Ford Fiesta hatch is the worst performer with 25.4 cubic feet of space.
The 2017 Fiat 500 Pop is 139.6 inches in length. It is 64.1 inches wide and 59.8 inches in height with a ground clearance of 4.1 inches, which is quite good dimensions for the city. The wheelbase is 90.6 inches, which provides a good amount of space for the front passengers, but for rear passengers, the cabin is uncomfortable.

When comparing Fiat 500 with others, Honda Fit is the longest and tallest at 160 inches and 60 inches, respectively. When comparing the curb weight of the hatchbacks in the competition, Ford Fiesta hatch turns out to be heaviest of the block at 2,537 lbs. Chevrolet Spark has the best ground clearance at 6.6 inches, which can clear road undulations and speed breakers with ease. Major exterior highlights include-
Don't be intimidated by the size of the car, the 2017 Fiat 500 has received 4-star ratings by NHTSA under their strict scrutiny of tests. It fairs well in the tough IIHS crash test as well as it is rated ‘Good’ in most aspects of their test. The Fiat 500 also comes packed with loads of safety features that make your ride stress-free like driveline traction control, airbags, side impact beams, and more. Few standout safety features available with the hatchback are-
Priced a tad below the Fiat 500, the Ford Fiesta Hatch offers more power output, superior acceleration and braking performance, and a roomier cabin. The Fiat, on the other hand, has more luggage room and a frugal engine. But the Fiesta also offers a more upmarket cabin with more technology and is also a lot more fun to drive. We would go with Fiesta hatch between the two.
Fiat 500 and Chevy spark are similar in various aspects. The performance, fuel economy, and interior cabin space alongside the cargo capacity are similar for these two. The only problem with Fiat is that it's not a four-seater, whereas the Spark can seat an additional passenger at the back, not to forget an additional couple of grand that Fiat charges over the Spark. Between the two, Chevy Spark is a better option.
Honda makes lightweight designs with an excellent engine and passenger space, whereas the Fiat is known for excellent looks with modernized interiors and potent engines. Honda Fit exceeds Fiat 500 Pop in almost every sphere and costs only about a thousand dollars more. It offers more power, better performance, similar fuel efficiency, and a much more spacious cabin. The decision turned out to be a no brainer, have to go with the Honda Fit between the two.
Fiat 500 Pop is not a completely new model from the previous one, but some upgrades make it a safer car. It has got new technology that can match much more advanced rivals. It's more affordable to buy and is comfortable for only two passengers. Its iconic design is nostalgic and reminds of the rich heritage of this car. If you want looks and a pocket-friendly price with a decent amount of equipment, there are not many options that can match the 2017 Fiat 500.
