Overall Rating
Lexus ES 350 is one of the most popular choices when it comes to entry-level luxury sedans, mostly for its futuristic sharp-looking exterior design, spacious cabin, availability to lots of standard equipment, and the one that's pretty obvious, living up to the great brand name record of Lexus.
The ES series is the midsize luxury sedan for Lexus. The 2017 Lexus ES 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine giving an output of 268 hp of horsepower and torque of 248 lb-ft and has a starting price of $38,900. New ES 350 has seen some refreshments on the inside and outside of the car. Advanced safety measures have been added along with a revised infotainment system, just to name a couple. It is placed up against the likes of Cadillac CTS, Genesis G80, and Infiniti Q70.
Even if we don't have more than a single trim to compare and choose out of, this car still holds a very tight spot for consideration as it is a very sweet deal being offered in that price category. There are plenty of standard features for the money you put down, including good quality simulated and perforated leather, dual-zone climate control, a good infotainment system, and plenty of space.

There are no trim options available for the customers to opt from as the sedan is only available in a single trim. The single trim of ES 350 is well equipped, consisting of a 3.5-liter engine, 8-speaker premium sound system, HD radio, dual-zone climate control, and many other features.

The Lexus ES 350 is being fed by a 3.5-liter V6 engine making 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission, which directs all the power to the front wheels of the car. The figures feel unimpressive in comparison with the rivals in the segment.

The Lexus ES 350 does the 0 to 60 sprint in 5.9 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 14.2 seconds. It will then continue to its top speed of 130 mph. These numbers are not as much of a sporty sedan but an everyday drive luxury sedan.

The fastest 0 to 60 time is set by the Cadillac CTS and the Infiniti Q 70 both setting a time of 5.7 seconds. Following this is the Lexus ES 350 with a time of 5.9 seconds and then comes the Genesis G80 with a 0 to 60 sprint time of 6.6 seconds
Refined, comfort, and luxurious driving feel is the Lexus ES 350's strongest characteristic, but the same lacks in the sporty side of the ride experience. Provided with a V6 engine which is claimed to be soft and responsive, the powertrain seems to be linear and effortless.
Talking about suspension handling, the vehicle gives excellent feedback by being well absorbing, accurate, mushy, and not too bouncy when put up against bumps and holes. Having very light steering with great feedback, the maneuvering seems pretty easy taken and thus the ES 350 glows in the day-to-day drive department.
Lexus ES 350 employs a setup of disc brakes with 11.6-inch front vented rotors and 11.0 inch rear rotors. This braking arrangement allows the car to come at a halt from 60 mph in just 113 ft and comes with the features of ABS and Brake Assist.

Even though the Lexus comes with the smallest brake setup, and still manages to set the best stopping distance along with the Infiniti Q 70 of 113 feet. The Genesis G80 is following the two cars with a stopping distance of 116 feet.
The fuel economy is the department where Lexus has put in a lot of effort which cost them their performance specs as well but they managed to carve out great numbers with such an engine. The Lexus ES 350 records 21 mpg and 30 mpg in city and highway respectively, giving a combined output of 24 mpg.

This material is available in the form of perforated leather so is a more breathable fabric and helps keep people cooler during hot days. The interior surfaces feature Piano Black trim and accents to give a high-quality feel to the interior. The Lexus ES 350 offers the least amount of space in the front row. Its competition offers at least two inches more legroom. When we look at the rear legroom space offered by the ES 350, it is nearly as much as the front row legroom, and just marginally less when it comes to the most rear legroom offering. The 2017 model comes with a refreshed and an upgraded infotainment system featuring an 8-inch touchscreen. Its operating system is still the same.
There have been reports about the system being a bit complicated to use, but people do get used to it. The system can be upgraded and will include navigation as a feature. Some of the features are as follows:
The Lexus ES 350 has 15.2 cu.ft. of trunk space. In that amount of space, one can easily fit in three large luggage bags, with ease. The back row of the car could be folded down to open up more space for any additional cargo you may have.

Weighing 3,571 lbs, it is the lightest car in the pack. When brought next to its rivals, the ES 350 is the smallest in every aspect, but the dimensions given to the car are just accurate to serve the right purpose. Looking on-paper, the Genesis G80 is the heaviest, longest, widest, and tallest in the range and thus gives a more upmarket feel.
The NHTSA has awarded the Lexus a 5-star overall safety rating out of a possible 5-stars. The IIHS has high scores for the sedan as well and has awarded the sedan “2017 Top Safety Pick+” in the midsize luxury car/4-door sedan. Some of the safety features are:
The Lexus ES 350 offers similar space to the Cadillac CTS and even similar interior features. The difference comes in the form of performance where the Cadillac is better and then comes the price where the Cadillac is $15,000 more, making the Lexus ES 350 a much better option, don’t forget it has many safety features too.
Genesis G80 is more powerful and even has better performance, it does cost a bit more too. However, the Lexus offers more space than the Genesis G80 in the rear seats and similar cargo space.
However, the Genesis is a more business executive’s comfortable ride, and the Lexus is a more comfortable and plush daily driver, you cannot go wrong with either of them.
The Infiniti Q70 costs around $12,000 more than the Lexus and offers nearly the same kind of equipment, yes it does perform a bit better, but that extra performance for the additional $12,000 is not really worth it, hence we say the Lexus ES 350 is a much better option.
