Overall Rating
The Lexus has always been known for its massive SUV's. It has now entered the Luxury crossover SUV market too, and the NX 200t was the first of its kind. With years, this car has come up with different models, with the 2017 being the one we are after.
The Lexus has always been known for its massive SUVs. It has now entered the Luxury crossover SUV market too, and the NX 200t was the first of its kind. Over years, this car has come up with different models, with 2017 being the one we are after. The exceptionally quiet cabin and the aggressive styling remain intact, and all of these make this Lexus compete with the likes of the Acura RDX SUV, the BMW X3, and the Infiniti QX 50.
There is not much to choose between the two trims. The base variant has just about everything and comes at a decent price. Whereas the F Sport model just has minor design changes which make the car look a lot more sporty.

The 2017 Lexus NX 200t SUV offers just two trims currently. It is an all-wheel-drive with a 2.0-liter 4-cyl engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard. The features on offer are the game changer for this car looking at the amount of them on offer, with a separate F Sport model with all the sporty and off-roading features on offer.

The 2017 Lexus NX 200t SUV is powered by a 2.0 Liter 4-cyl engine which produces a massive 235 hp of power and 258 lb-ft of torque considering the size of the engine. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard.
The motor is surprisingly quite lively and eager for a 2.0-liter unit and handles almost everything thrown at it. Do not expect a “performance-oriented SUV” performance from the motor, it is more of a sedate and efficient power plant making this huge SUV a suitable family cruiser.

All four rivals are somewhat different in this regard. While the Lexus and the BMW offer a similar 2.0-liter engine, with almost similar power outputs. The 3.5 liter Acura MDX’s engine is just about similar figures like the above two too, despite such a big engine. Having said that, the Infiniti with its 3.7-liter engine leaves all three behind, generating massive torque and power.
Let's face it, acceleration has never been a strong point for Lexus vehicles and this one too follows that regard, with the NX 200t taking 7.1 seconds to cover 60 mph, while the quarter-mile figure stands at a disappointing 16.8 seconds.

The BMW X3 and the Infiniti QX50 are all class here, taking a class defining acceleration time of 5.8 seconds to complete the 0-60 mph run each. The Acura RDX is a close second with 6.2 seconds to its credit with the Lexus is a little far off.
The quarter-mile column follows a similar pattern, with the Lexus NX 200t a little too far off the other three under this particular parameter too.
This is Lexus’s territory. The NX 200t offers the best ride quality here that is envied by the rivals. The steering is quite light, but has the feel to it as well, leading to handling worth mentioning too. The suspension is very smooth, which leads to riding quality that can be very well compared to that of an Audi or BMW. All-weather tires offer a magnificent grip in wet conditions too. It is also very agile around the corners and smoothes on the highways.
The 2017 Lexus NX 200t SUV does exceptionally well in the braking aspect considering the lackluster acceleration that it has. It takes about 118 feet to stop from 60 mph, easily the second-best and a marked improvement from the previous parameter.

The Infiniti QX50 does what was expected from it in this parameter too, considering its overall sporty performance. Having said that, the Acura MDX and the BMW X3 has a disappointing braking performance with both the SUVs taking 121 and 122 feet to come to a halt.
Fuel economy is something that is never a strong point of an SUV, especially the large ones such as the Lexus NX 200t. But the NX packs in a surprise for its buyers with an unmatched fuel economy despite being a full-fledged luxury SUV. The 2017 Lexus NX 200t SUV gives a mileage of a decent 28 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. With a combined mpg of 22, this SUV nails the city mileage rating among the rivals.

The Infiniti QX50 has the least figures owing to its big power plant and a beefy power output. The Acura MDX and the BMW X3 truly impresses with their highway mpg rating of 28 and a higher combined mileage than the Lexus NX 200t but loses to it big-time when it comes to city mileage figures.
Lexus specializes in providing its customers with a plush and feature rich cabin that oozes comfort from every angle. The interior of the SUV is lined with soft-touch materials starting from the doors to the dashboard and the materials used are of premium quality, justifying its premium price tag.
The 2017 Lexus NX 200t can accommodate 5 people. It provides heated and cooled seating as well. The passenger rear seats are also electrically powered and are very comfortable, especially for the long rides.

The seats are made of premium leather upholstery and offer an electric seat movement system as well. The dash too has been very well laid out and completely complements the interiors in every regard.
Interior Features
The interior features include:
The infotainment system in the Lexus NX 200t is definitely easy on the eye and easy to use too. Instead of a touchscreen panel, the system comes with a rotary knob as the master control that is housed on the center console. The interface is interesting and the speaker volume is magnificent as well.
It does have basic features like:
The 2017 Lexus NX 200t doesn't boast of the best trunk in this segment. It is not even close to the best. However, The trunk can easily hold a few duffle bags among others. It has a wide opening with a flat surface, although with a little hump, which is about okay for inserting and removing those heavy bags.

All the other rivals except the Infiniti QX50, which is in the same bracket are pretty much top class in this regard, with each of the Acura and BMW offers about 26 feet cube of space in the trunk. The Lexus is at 17, while the Infiniti is somewhat there too.
The Lexus NX 200t features a decent look but its front grille design might be an eyesore for some. Apart from that, the SUV feels like a proper luxury SUV with its beefy dimensions and large 17-inch alloy wheels. The tall muscular build adds up to its advantage as well, which seems pretty confident for highway driving.
The ground clearance showcases this facet as well. At 6.9 inches above the ground, this car is rightly the one to go on those weekend adventure excursions.

Exterior Features
Some of the exterior features include:
Safety and a strong build quality has been Lexus’s forte since its inception and with Toyota’s blessings it has been able to maintain it even to this day. The NX 200t is no different than other Lexus vehicles and comes with exceptional safety ratings and features as well. The SUV aced the NHTSA tests with a perfect “5-star” rating and has been awarded the prestigious “Top Safety Pick+” by none other than the IIHS. All these speak volumes about the level of safety the SUV has to offer. Apart from that, it also comes with a host of active safety aids including some of the advanced ones as well.
Safety Features
Although the Lexus and the Acura have a massive 1.5-liter engine difference, their power outputs are quite similar. The Lexus has better space and comfort on the inside as well. The fuel economy and handling can be called at par, while the Acura does have a bigger trunk.
However, the quiet and calm cabin, along with such a beautiful ride quality, add to that the features, and the Lexus becomes the obvious choice here.
The BMW is the one which can be said to be in the same league as the Lexus. They both have a similar engine with a similar output. The fuel economy and right there too. The trunk capacity of the X3 is way better too.
However, the ride handling of the Lexus is the one to match and the ever so reliable BMW does that. Another factor worth remembering is that the BMW is way more expensive than the Lexus and does make this comparison almost equal.
The fight between the Lexus and the Infiniti goes right down to the wire. They have different capacity engines but with a similar output. The ride handling department goes to the Lexus while the mechanical features go to the Infiniti.
However, again like in the case of Acura, the Lexus NX 200t offers a lot more comfort and quality and is thus the deserved winner.
