Overall Rating
The 2017 Lexus NX 300h SUV is a serious crossover SUV and does almost everything an SUV is desired for. And is actually a better bet than the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V.
It was a long time coming, and finally, with the NX 300h, Lexus has made its way in the luxury hybrid crossover SUV segment. This car scores on a lot of features and has a quiet and neat cabin. However, if fuel economy is a matter of concern for you, your search starts and ends with this car. All of these make this Lexus a serious contender and compete with the likes of the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, and the Nissan Rogue SUV. There is a nice balance between the ride quality and handling in the Lexus. Response from the steering is good, and the regenerative braking system feels natural. The suspension system soaks up most of the things and offers a nice comfortable ride.
There is not much to choose from here as there is just a single trim currently. However, this trim does provide a serious crossover SUV experience and is definitely recommended. If you want the typical Lexus luxury and experience along with the frugality of a hybrid, Lexus NX300h is a solid purchase.

The Lexus NX 300h SUV offers just a single trim currently. It is an all-wheel-drive with a 2.5-liter 4-cyl engine with a CVT transmission as standard. The features on offer are the game changer for this car after looking at the amount of them on offer, the biggest of them being the vehicle stability control (VSC).

The Lexus NX 300h SUV is powered by a 2.5 Liter 4-cyl Engine which produces a massive 194 hp of power and 258 lb-ft of torque, which provides an all-wheel drive with a CVT transmission as standard.
The All-Wheel-Drive layout of the Lexus makes it more connected with the road with ample grip on offer every time. For the Lexus, the transmission duties are taken care of by the continuously variable transmission in it. Though all the cars in this segment feature the CVT transmission.

All four rivals are somewhat different in this regard. While the Lexus and the Toyota offer a similar 2.5-liter engine, their power outputs go in opposite directions altogether. Having said that, the Nissan Rogue isn't far off either, with the 2.0-liter engine offering the best torque output among the four.
Let's face it, acceleration has never been a strong point for the Lexus, and this one too follows that regard, with the NX 300h taking 9.1 seconds to cover 60 mph from a standstill, while the quarter-mile figures are not known yet. The rivals on the table manage to beat its acceleration figures easily.

The Toyota RAV4 definitely turns things around in this segment, with an impeccable 8.0 seconds for 0-60 mph. The Nissan is a close second with 8.4 seconds too, with the Lexus lagging behind. The quarter mile column follows a similar pattern, with the Toyota leading the way, with the Nissan following its trails.
If you compare the ride quality of the NX 300h with that of the NX 200t, it would obviously feel quite languid and unresponsive. The same can be said of the Toyota RAV4 and all other hybrid crossovers in the market though. Having said that, this car does all the necessary things right. The suspension is very smooth, which leads to riding quality that can be very well compared to that of an Audi or BMW. The all-weather tires offer a magnificent grip in wet conditions too. It is also very agile around the corners and smoothes on the highways.
The Lexus NX 300h SUV braking figures are not yet known. But it is definitely expected of it to be in the middle range considering the acceleration it has. The Lexus comes with 11.2 inches of brake rotors in the front and 11.7 inches of brake rotors in the rear. For a curb weight of 3940 lbs, the Lexus is expected to perform decently. Though it is quite heavy and is by far the heaviest in the rival segment.

The lightest Nissan Rogue Hybrid, definitely is the one with the best brakes in this segment, although, like in the other parameters, the figures of the Toyota and the Lexus are somewhat in the same bracket too. Toyota takes the cake for being the best with a braking distance of 123 feet.
This is Lexus' territory; it gives insanely high mileage, 34 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. With a combined mpg of 32, this car is a real beast in this regard. The 2.5 Liter Inline 4 engine can be said to be quite efficient especially when being compared to the Nissan Rogue Hybrid, which has a lesser capacity engine but consumes fuel much more than the Lexus.

Having said all the good things about the Lexus, one must not forget the Toyota and Nissan. They are quite close, giving similar figures. While both the Lexus and the Toyota offer the same amount of tank capacity, it is the Nissan that is marginally lesser in capacity.
The Lexus NX 300h is a sports utility vehicle that accommodates 5 people. It provides heated and cooled seating as well. The passenger rear seats are also electrically powered.
They are very comfortable, especially for the long rides. When it comes to dimensions, Lexus provides the least headroom space in both the rows.

The best headroom space in both the rows is boasted by Nissan. The seats are made of premium leather upholstery and offer an electric seat movement system as well. The dash too has been very well laid out and completely complements the interiors in every regard. The interior features include:
The infotainment system in the Lexus NX 300h is definitely easy on the eye and easy to use too. The interface is interesting, and the speaker volume is magnificent as well. The 7-inch infotainment screen is equipped with satellite radio, USB Port, Bluetooth connectivity, and Siri Eyes Free connectivity. Controls for the 7-inch screen are done through a rotary dial on the center console. Although it is heavily packed with features, the infotainment user interface is not user friendly. However, it does have basic features like:
The Lexus NX 300h doesn't boast of the best trunk in this segment. However, it NX 300h can easily hold a few duffle bags among others. It has a wide opening with a flat surface, although with a little hump, which is about okay for handling those heavy bags.

All the other two rivals are pretty much top class in this regard, the Lexus feels left out with just a miniature cargo space of just 17.7 cu-ft. The Toyota is pretty comparable too with 35.6 feet. The Nissan, although a little behind the Toyota, is obviously way ahead of the Lexus in this regard.Â
The new Lexus NX 300h SUV is the heaviest car in this segment. The dimensions clearly show the amount of space available on the inside. The tall muscular built adds up to its advantage as well, which seems pretty confident for highway driving.
The ground clearance showcases this facet as well. At 6.9 inches above the ground, this car is rightly the one to go on those weekend adventure excursions.

The wheelbase too, is pretty decent in the Lexus, although not as the Nissan, even that shows the off-road nature that the Lexus does boast of. Nissan manages to offer the best ground clearance of 7.4 inches, followed by Toyota’s 7.0 inches, leaving Lexus at the back. Some of the exterior features include:
The 2017 Lexus NX300h has been through the crash-tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety(IIHS) and has received a Good rating overall in all the tests. For that reason, the IIHS has come forward and awarded the vehicle with a ‘Top Safety Pick+’. Even the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) has given it a 5-star overall rating for the tests it went through. So, this can be concluded the Lexus NX300h hybrid is no doubt a safe vehicle. Some of the most important safety features in the SUV include:
Although the Lexus and the Toyota both have a similar engine, their power outputs are completely opposite. The Lexus has better space and comfort on the inside as well. The fuel economy and handling can be called at par, while Toyota does have a bigger trunk. However, with better ride comfort, better engine output, and great steering, Lexus is the definite winner in this comparison.
The Nissan is the one that genuinely matches the Lexus in many regards. The space inside the Nissan is much better. The braking is better too. The trunk capacity is way too much for the Lexus as well. However, the Lexus does have a better comfort quality along with a better overall experience. Thus, it is difficult to choose a winner, and this comparison ends even stevens.
The 2017 Lexus NX 300h SUV is a serious crossover SUV and does almost everything an SUV is desired for. It is actually a better bet than the Toyota RAV4, however, the Nissan Rogue does give the Lexus a real run for their money. While the Lexus does have a great engine with massive torque output, pretty good for the highway rides, the Nissan does have better acceleration and braking. The fuel economy is quite similar and so is the amount of space on the inside. So, a better SUV with better ride quality and comfort has to be the Lexus NX 300h. If money is an issue, a much cheaper variant with fewer features has to be the Nissan Rogue.
