Overall Rating
The Lincoln MKT is one of those vehicle that can't be compared to any other at least visually. The car has an abnormal looking front and rear fascia that some say look freakishly similar to a hearse.
The 2017 Lincoln MKT is a three-row crossover/wagon that shares its platform with the Ford Flex. The vehicle boasts of a jam-packed list, full of tech features enough to make even the biggest geeks smile. While the 2017 MKT features plush interiors and great engine options, the design element is perhaps a letdown. The car bears an uncannily designed front grille that might not go down well with its future buyers.
The MKT gets offered in just one trim, and it comes loaded with features from the base model itself. The major price difference is seen only when you opt for the AWD version. It’s safer to go with the AWD version if you live in a place with unpredictable weather, but if you are from a sunny place, FWD should serve you just fine.

The 2017 Lincoln MKT is offered in only one feature-loaded trim. There are both FWD and AWD trims on offer. While the FWD features a V6 motor, the AWD trim features a turbocharged variably tuned V6 motor. The MKT is a feature-loaded car, even when being compared to German flagship vehicles. The 19-inch alloy wheels are coated with metallic paint that gives out a shine and adds to the appeal of the vehicle.

The engine duty on the Lincoln MKT is handled by a 3.7L V6 motor paired to a 6-speed auto gearbox. The engine is good for producing 303 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque.
The engine does feel underpowered at times for such generous power figures. Overtaking at highway speeds can become a hassle, but overall, the base engine does a good job of lugging 7 passengers.

On paper, the MKT is second only to the Audi Q7 with 333 hp. In the third position is the Infiniti QX60, which is followed by the Acura MDX with 290 hp. This order in producing power is repeated when we compare the torque output of these cars as well. Audi offers the best torque figure of 325 lb-ft, whereas Acura MDX offers the least at 267 lb-ft.
Even though the acceleration feels numb, the figures tell otherwise. The Lincoln MKT is able to complete a 0-60 mph sprint in around 6.1 seconds and goes on to complete a quarter-mile sprint in 14.7 seconds. Notably, it is the most polluting vehicle with 9.2 tons/yr of CO2 emissions.

In comparison, the Audi Q7 is the fastest vehicle to reach 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. The second fastest is the Lincoln MKT with 6.1 seconds. While the Acura MDX is close to the MKT at 6.2 seconds, the QX60 falls behind at 7.1 seconds. When comparing the quarter-mile, again Audi is the fastest at 14.3 seconds.
It is safe to say that the Lincoln MKT is not one of the best handling cars that its rivals boast to be. The car steers like a boat and has a floaty suspension. The AWD trim allows the driver to choose between 3 setups which help the MKT's case a little. But overall, the car puts much more emphasis on comfort than it does on sportiness. This does translate into better comfort for the passengers, but things do get boring for the driver.
The Lincoln MKT features a big beefy set of brakes in the front as well as the rear. The front brake rotors are 13.9 inches while the rear ones are 13.6 inches. Even with a heavy curb weight, the car is able to stop from 60 mph to a complete standstill within an impressive 118 ft. These figures can prove to be life-saving in certain events. Also, for a car of this size, it is important to have stronger brakes, as it is capable of carrying 7 people at once.

Amongst the rivals, it's the Audi Q7 which comes at the top again, with a stopping distance of 117 feet. The second is the MKT, while both the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60 lag slightly behind the leaders. When comparing the curb weight of the cars in the competition, Audi is the heaviest of the lot, measuring 4,938 lbs.
Simply put, the Lincoln MKT is certainly not the most fuel-efficient car out there. The car is able to return a paltry fuel mileage of 19 mpg combined. While its competition offers much better fuel efficiency figures. For most people, this lower fuel efficiency might be a bummer, but if you are a city commuter, this should be enough as you won’t be travelling very long distances regularly.

Amongst the rivals, the MKT is the least fuel-efficient car. The most fuel-efficient cars in the segment offer 22 miles per gallon combined. This position is shared by the Acura MDX and the Infiniti QX60 together. Despite having better power and acceleration on board, Audi still manages to offer better combined mileage than MKT of 21 mpg.
The Lincoln MKT offers comfortable seating for 7 people. But things in the third row do get a little cramped, especially due to a sloping roofline which hinders the headroom.
However, with front legroom of 41.3 inches and rear legroom of 41.8 inches, it offers one of the roomiest cabins in the segment with enough legroom to stretch on long journeys.

In comparison with rivals, the Lincoln MKT offers the most legroom in the segment. The second in line is the Audi Q7, while both the other rivals are way off. All these vehicles are bigger in dimensions from the exterior itself, and this clearly translates to the outside as well. All the vehicles on the table come with a seating capacity of seven. The infotainment duties in the Lincoln MKT are handled by a fine-looking 10-inch touchscreen and an array of 10 speakers. The sync 3 MMI does a fine job most of the time, except when transitioning from a call back to the main screen where it lags a bit. The input times and response times are right up there with the competition. For a car that was made in 2017, the MKT presents a very exceptional performance in terms of the infotainment system. Major infotainment features include:
The Lincoln MKT, with its long wheelbase and long overhang, is able to offer a generous 17.9 feet of cargo volume behind the third row. The loading angles and heights are optimal as well. Airport runs and long journeys are going to be as easy as it gets if you plan to own an MKT. With both rear row seats down, the MKT offers an overall cargo space of 75.9 cubic feet.

If you have someone in your life who likes to carry their world in the trunk, then the bigger boot is too good a blessing. It might fulfill the industry standards and an average buyer would appreciate it as well. However, going with the Acura MDX will be advantageous in terms of more cargo space as it offers an overall cargo space of 90.9 cubic feet.
The Lincoln MKT is a big and heavy car with a curb weight of 4,720 lbs. The car is also the longest, by quite a bit, primarily due to a long hanging rear end.
The width might not be the segment dominating but it still is adequate at 76 inches. The crossover stands 7.8 inches above the ground.

In Comparison with rivals, the Audi Q7 is the heaviest car in the segment at 4,938 lbs. The longest car in the segment is the Lincoln MKT with 207.2 inches. It also happens to be the one with the longest wheelbase of 117.9 inches. With 9.3 inches of ground clearance, Audi Q7 stands tallest above the ground. Major exterior features include-
The 2017 Lincoln MKT suite of safety features is enough to put even the pricier vehicles to shame. There is a comprehensive list of both active and passive safety features to keep the occupants safe. Moreover, the car has scored a 5-star safety rating in almost all the safety tests, when tested by major crash-testing agencies. Safety and reliability are never going to be a concern for the Lincoln MKT. Few key safety features available are-
The Infiniti QX60 is another fine offering from the Japanese giants. The QX60 is a fine-looking car from the outside with sharp body styling and a well-balanced front and rear fascia. The list of safety features might not be as long as the MKT but it still is enough to rank it in the higher spots in the segment. However, the Infiniti QX60 is certainly not as spacious as the MKT. Even when it comes to cargo capacity, the QX60 falls short.
The Audi Q7 has been the poster boy for luxury SUVs for a long time and for good reason. This vehicle can be seen as a celebrity favorite among the Red-carpet crowd as well. The interior quality is probably the best in the segment, and the layout is an ergonomic delight as well. Other than that, there is enough tech-laden on the car for it to qualify as a spaceship. The Audi Q7 is a great vehicle that does the job of an SUV well and can even take a fair bit of off-roading with its 4 wheel drive powertrain. All in all, the Audi seems to be the better vehicle amongst the two.
The vehicle is charming from both the inside and the outside. Seating for 7 people makes it a great family vehicle and even the utility part is definitely there. When looking at figures like acceleration and fuel economy, Acura MDX leads the race. All in all, if you're looking for a mid-size, family SUV, the Acura MDX makes for a compelling choice.
The Lincoln MKT is one of those vehicles that can't be compared to any other at least visually. The car has an abnormal-looking front and rear fascia that some say looks freakishly similar to a hearse. But, if you're one of those who likes the way it looks, it's actually a good car from the inside. The interiors are nice, there are multiple engine choices, and the cabin is loaded to the brim with tech. It might not be a big seller, but it certainly has the capabilities of a good car.
