While the 380 ponies on the Navigator feels impressive, it was the Caddy who brought the trophy. Its 420 hp of raw power eliminates the competitors big time. Whereas the Range Rover makest he least power among the four cars at 340hp.
The Navigator is engineered to perfection with its amazing Ford-sourced V6 engine. The engine has an amazing low-end performance which makes it go briskly off the line. The throttle response is also sharp which gives amazing feedback whenever you extend your right foot. The 6-Speed gearbox is not the quickest, hut delivers power efficiently

The Navigator feels aggressively quick. It weighs more than 6,000 pounds, but it posts 0 to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds and is one of the fastest full-size SUVs in its class. The Navigator gets tough competition from the Cadillac Escalade which crosses the 0-60 mph mark in 5.8 seconds and is the second fast in the class. The Range Rover despite its least power in these four cars, takes 7.1 seconds to cross the 0-60 mph mark. The Mercedes-Benz on the other hand is the slowest of them all for the 0-60 mph, at 7.7 seconds.
The Navigator is a highway cruiser with plenty of power swift acceleration. It gets the best handling of any other large SUV in the class. Be ready for heavy nosedive and lots of body roll during quick stops. The four-wheel independent suspension, however, helps provide a smooth ride and this is one enormous SUV that maneuvers with some degree of precision on a winding road.

In terms of braking, the 2017 Lincoln Navigator fails to impress as it gets the worst stopping power of 132 feet. The Escalade despite being the second heaviest in the class offers impressive braking distance. It takes 119 feet to come to a halt from 60 to 0.
With a towing capacity of 9,000 pounds, the Navigator makes for a good choice for weekend towing. The Cadillac Escalade and the Land Rover respectively max out at 8,300 and 7,500 pounds.

The Navigator's 9000-pound muscle can easily outpower its competitors. The other SUVs like the Range Rover were left powerless. The Mercedes GLS featured the lowest towing prowess.
The Navigator gets an EPA rating of 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway and 17 mpg combined when fitted with rear-wheel-drive. With the four-wheel drive, the highway number drops to 20. Extended wheelbase Navigator meanwhile checks in with 15/20/17 mpg with rear-wheel drive and 15/19/16 mpg with 4WD.

The Escalade will give you a lot of perks but fuel efficiency is not one of them. This SUV, just like the Navigator delivers a 17 mpg mileage which is the least in the lot. Other competitors like the GLS and the Range Rover both display a combined fuel efficiency 19 mpg mileage.
The Navigator seats seven people however you get the option to increase total seating capacity to eight by swapping out the second-row bucket seats for a bench seat. One of the main highlights of the Navigator is the third-row space that stands at 37.7 inches which no other vehicle in the class offers. The longer wheelbase helps to generate more legroom as well as cargo room for the SUV.Â

The standard bucket seats in the second row get a lower and upper anchor for installing child safety seats. Swap out the bucket seat with the bench and you get another upper and lower LATCH anchor in the second row. The Cadillac Escalade has a snug rear row with just 24.8 inches of legroom. You would find it tiring to sit knees-up during long drives. The third row of the Navigator is the most spacious and flipping down the seats lo opens more cargo capacity. Some of the interior features of the Navigator are
The 2017 Navigator gets the all-new SYNC-3 infotainment system with added smartphone connectivity features. As standard, you get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with crisp graphics and easy to navigate menus. You get buttons and knobs for easy access to functions which makes it easy to operate, especially while you are driving. You also get twin DVD screens for the rear seat passengers.Â
The Navigator gets Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system which is easy to use and intuitive. Smartphone integration like the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay has been made available for 2017. The new system is designed similarly to a smartphone, you can gesture such as pinch to zoom or swipe. You also get an amazing sounding 14-Speaker THX to surround the audio system.Â
The Navigator has the largest wheelbase in the segment. Even with all 3 rows up, the Navigator offers 18.1 cu-ft of luggage room which is adequate to pack large suitcases and soft bags. However, if you are looking forward to going on a long journey, the rear seats can be folded down to open up a large 54.4 cu-ft of storage room. With the middle row down, the Navigator has a massive 103.3 cu-ft of storage space.

The Navigator is visually the largest SUV in the lot. The large front grille and massive body panels announce its badass presence on the road. However, the grille design and plain styling may be polarizing. People may either hate it or love it. The Mercedes-Benz GLS is the most stylish SUV with its German legacy. The sharp body lines give it an elegant presence, that sustains the everlasting newness of the design.
The Navigator comes with a wide range of driver-assist features that ensures your safe journey. The IIHS has not crash-tested the Navigator yet but the NHTSA has given the SUV a five-star overall rating. The SUV in the AWD trim got a 4-star rating in the roll-over test done by NHTSA whereas the RWD version got just three. Lincoln has covered the Navigator with a four year/50,000-mile basic warranty and a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty.
The new Cadillac Escalade is the only full-size SUV that compares to the Navigator in terms of cargo space and towing capacity. There is a plethora of passenger space in both these SUVs plus you also get each in a long wheelbase. Navigator although gives you more power with its fuel-efficient V8 engine along with the luxurious interior.
The Navigator does not quite match up against this German rival in terms of luxury quotient or refinement. The Mercedes has far better interiors, looks better too, and has more tech features as well. Other than the size of the Navigator and the stately stance that comes along with it, there is nothing that comes up the class of the GLS. Also, the GLS is cheaper and that should pretty much help you boil down to your choice.
The 2017 Lincoln Navigator does show its true American blood in terms of engine performance. The 6-cylinder motor is not the most powerful in the segment. The powertrain feels dated and the heavy transmission does take a while to respond to quick throttle inputs. The Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class on the other hand offers amazing performance from its engine.
The gearbox is also much smoother compared to the Lincoln. The Mercedes also scores when it comes to the interiors. The exterior of the Mercedes is modern and stylish, whereas the Navigator has polarising looks.
The Navigator does not match up the class of the new Land Rover Range Rover either. The Range Rover is quite the epitome of how a luxury SUV is to be like and even though it is quite more expensive than the Navigator, it justifies every bit of that premium with its high-quality materials, great looks, tech features, and off-road capability quite unmatched by the others. It certainly is not as huge as the Navigator but it sufficient to get those heads turned.
The Lincoln Navigator is a good stately SUV built on the platform of Ford trucks and hence it does not have the sense of luxury as its European counterparts. It's a fast SUV and surprisingly so considering its weight and dimensions but it's that perfect. The rivals are more luxurious and look better, have way more technology, and have better brand value as well. Yes, it's massive but that about it. If size is the only concern one may as well buy a luxury van instead of this but for a full-size luxury SUV, the world has certainly better to offer.
