4dr Sedan (6.0L 12cyl Turbo 7A)
The cars in this segment do put up a fight for the title of the most luxurious vehicle but the sportier heritage is what bogs them down, ultimately conceding the pole position to the Mercedes AMG S 65 Sedan.
A step overbold, powerful, and beautiful the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 65 is an audaciously brute machine mated with the finesse and grace of a ballet dancer. Surrendering to none and not compromising on anything this total opulence oozing, comfort-inducing automaker's marvelous feat is one for the history books. Let the grunt of the 6L V12 be the serenade of your journeys and the companion to your adventures. Let the 621 horses under the hood be the power that pulls your chariot my liege and when they shall reach the destination may you remember the journey as much as the ride that carried you.
The 4 door sedan version of the AMG S 65 ups the ante and offers unparalleled luxury and comfort. The well-endowed car is bestowed with a 6L V12 engine that cruises this 5000 lbs beast with ease. This power is fully utilized and it never lets you forget that it's a luxury sedan first, Affatlerbach blessed second.

Spending a quarter-million dollars gets you a very equipped car that shall be able to satiate most people's needs. But, to be honest, a few legit customizations do make some more heads turn, while you relieve yourself in the soft lap of comfort and convenience. But, if you need an executive stance, just step ahead with what Mercedes-Benz has to offer because they know the best.
An open secret AMG engine is what drives this uber-luxury autobahn cruising vehicle, fitted with a 6L V12 that has 621hp, it produces 738 ft-lb of torque. But do these numbers translate to the real-life symphony as grand as the German composers, the answer is a very big yes!!.
The revving engine grunts aggressively enough to make heads turn but the launch after that is enough to make everyone's jaw drop in awe of the German Automaker's luxury marvel. The satisfying engine symphony is accompanied by a 7-speed transmission, the only one that is able to handle the monstrous V12 that comes under the hood.

The transmission has started showing its age technology-wise and is rather clunky. The 9 speed Automatic has spoiled the new Merc owner and this can be felt on the downshift. Outclassing its brethren the AMG embossed S 65 manages to be at the top with a difference of 40hp and 100 lb-ft of torque. Waving to the competitors from afar the German Three-pronged logo car can be said to be the epitome of efficiency.
Let the luxury heritage not fool you. The AMG division does what it does best making the good a beast. Outrageously priced, extremely heavy, and featuring some of the most aggressive fascia seen on a car, the AMG S 65 is for people who want the cream in everything and are not afraid to spend top dollar for it.
Accelerating to 60 in 4.3s the 5000 lbs automotive feat is not joking when it comes to numbers.

Not class-leading by any standards the Merc comes in at last position to reach 60 and the quarter-mile story ain't any different. The luxury traits of the bloodline do come up here and the power of the engine is used to rather have a cruising vehicle rather than a track-ready car. The sluggish times seem slow only due to the fact that the competitors are purebred sports cars operating sans the luxury and power statement that the Merc flaunts. The AMG injections almost make the car powerful enough to compete with the other three but outclassing them on their home stretch can be a stretch even for the AMG guys.
The S 65 is like a prince amidst a battle on the front lines a little out of place but well equipped enough to take anything head-on. Far from being a sports vehicle this AMG-laden Merc does not forget its roots and does everything to remind you that it is a luxury transport vehicle. Although it stays grounded the AMG steroids take this car to another level with its performance upgrades.
The opulence factor seems to overtake the performance aspect which is much appreciated. The Magic Body Control in conjunction with the windshield mounted camera detects incoming potholes and road imperfection and adjusts the air suspensions accordingly to make the smoothest ride possible.
The three suspension modes of the S 65 namely the Comfort, Sport, and Curve live up to their names. Most interesting of the three the Curve mode activates a function that tilts the car 2.65 degrees whilst cornering to reduce the g-force on the occupants. If Mercedes can think of reducing the G-force on its passengers then the person buying it would definitely mind spending the kind of dough this car asks.
The Merc wins accolades for keeping the stopping distance under 110ft whilst being the heaviest one amongst the contenders. This potential heir to the throne manages to come to halt from 60 mph in 109 feet while others take at least a couple of feet more. This speaks volume for the Merc's braking system.

The Porsche and the Maserati while having lighter bodies and lesser powerful engines fare worse than the German Marvel. Porsche whilst having the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) come close to the Tristar but still manages to be outclassed by its German counterpart.
Luxury comes at a price and the millionaire buying it definitely wouldn't mind the gas guzzler tag that comes with this car. An abysmal city and highway mpg does not look good on paper nor does it translate well in real life but as a millionaire does spending peanuts for your cruising beasts concern you?

Putting numbers and table stats to words we can see that the Mercedes is a fuel-hungry beast and provides the least mpg in this segment. The sportier and performance-oriented cars manage to perform better on this front with the Porsche taking the lead.
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has brawny engine options and refined driving dynamics, as well as a lovely interior with a wide array of high-tech convenience and safety features. Staying true to the design of the S 65 the AMG version comes with a host of features that may be optional with other cars but hey that's what a 200k price tag comes with.
The diamond styled leather seats are a sight to behold and the Nappa used only accentuates the opulence of the whole cabin experience.

Providing the most space in the cabin the AMG S 65 triumphs over its competitive brethren with best in class interior spacing. With more than enough space in the first and the rear rows, the befitting chariot is sub-par to none.
In our experience, folks buying this sedan seldom occupy the driver’s seat and thus fail to relish the delight S65’s dynamics have to offer. Nevermind though, the car mesmerizes with the state-of-the-art infotainment technology that it lays in the hands of the occupants. A centralized console that houses a 12.3” integrated with the dashboard that can be accessed via a touchpad controller.
Moreover, since Mercedes understands the confidentiality of business matters, it provides two wireless headphones that work with the system to provide enough privacy on calls. Apart from that, there is plenty in store of the AMG S65s, which cannot be countered in such a short word limit. Please visit the “interior” tab on top of this page to know more about the same. I bet you will be surprised. For now, refer to the following list of features that we have till now managed to gather insight about:
The class leader does loosen its grips on the throne in this segment and lets others one up it on the storage front. The great price tag couldn't afford a few cubic feet of space and the Merc falls short on this front with only 16.3 cubic feet.

Cargo space has never been a luxury car's forte and all the contenders to the title do abysmally on this front. The Maserati takes the cake on this one with 18.7 cubic feet of space which is barely sufficient to only store essentials or a couple of duffle bags. Some of the interior features in the 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG S 65 are:
Tallest in its segment, second in length and the smallest widthwise this Tristar AMG embellished luxury cabin on wheels does not fall short where it matters and does bolster its luxury heritage with aggressive yet subtle styling.
The omnipresently imposing and intimidating looks that are befitting a king is surely one of the points that make this ride a chariot for modern-day leaders and visionaries alike. Aren't we all grand in our microcosms?

Comparing the car under scrutiny to other more brash and sporty looking Cars in the segment might seem like giving them a head start if you are into a sportier sedan but this opulence oozing marvel does hold its own here.
Luxury rarely comes sans safety and the Mercedes does come with a slew of features that shall make the ride part joyous part reassuring. Apart from the basics that govern the entire mechanics of the car, Mercedes-Benz opens a closet full of sophisticated modern active safety tech towards this extravagant sedan.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo or Mercedes's German competition fails to make its way past the souped-up AMG and ultimately falls short on what it's supposed to do.
The Panamera caters to the demographic that wants a sporty luxury vehicle but the fallacies on the luxury aspect are enough to make it second to its German counterpart. It may be the quickest of the lot but in the luxury segment, it is about arriving in style rather than reaching there the quickest.
This is the one where Germans win. Battling the Merc on its homefront is an uphill task in itself and the sportier features of the Aston Martin only adds to its dismay. The abysmal performance whilst having a lower-powered engine only solidifies the German’s claim of being the best in the luxury business.
The Maserati Quattroporte GTS Gransport fails to make a mark when compared to the Mercedes and the German automotive marvel reigns supreme in the luxury category. The Italian might have gotten the sports meets luxury right but in front of the powerful and braggy nature of the V12, the small 3.8L V 8 does accept its defeat.
The ostentatious display of wealth, power, and status is what defines this vehicle. Unapologetically loud and brash the Mercedes-Benz AMG S 65 is for people who aren't satisfied by anything but the best. Best in class luxury and one of the smoothest rides in the segment this Merc is as much as a joy to ride as it is to look at.
