Overall Rating
Starting with a price of $20,950, the 2017 Mini Hardtop 2-door hatchback is more expensive than its rivals. But the higher price is because of a better engine, better drive quality, and a roomier cabin.
The new Mini Hardtop 2 Door comes with 2 engine options and 3 engine different outputs, which makes you feel a bit spoilt for choice. Each trim has a specific purpose - daily driving, sporty driving, and performance driving all come with the go-kart feeling that is signature to Mini. The interior is premium and there is no shortage of infotainment even on the base trim. Priced at $20,950, the Mini comes into direct competition with the Ford Fiesta hatchback, Honda Fit, and Nissan Versa Note.

With better power, performance, and similar range, the Mini loses out in space to the Ford Focus. However, the Mini’s interior quality is top-notch, as are the safety features and interior technology.
Hence, the winner is the Mini.
The Mini is marginally more powerful than the Fit and is much better in all performance tests and has better fuel economy. The Honda Fit offers the most space of the above cars making it practical.
We have a preference for the Mini thanks to its driving dynamics but, you won’t go wrong with either.
The Mini Hardtop is more powerful and has better performance than the Nissan Versa Note. The Nissan Versa Note does offer a better range than the Mini and more space.
But, the Mini is pricier and it does get better materials than the Versa. Hence, the winner is the Mini.
The Mini Hardtop 2 Door is the iconic hatchback. It comes with a good performance engine even in its base model and then the higher trims of S and JCW just keep getting more and more powerful. The hatchback does offer a comfortable interior even though the rear seats are a bit cramped. The infotainment is good and so are the safety features. The best part of the Mini is its driveability, the go-kart feeling that none of its competitors have provided, making it a truly unique car.
