The Maybach in itself is more than enough. Still, those in search of more comfort can spend $1,950 and get the rear bench replaced with a pair of individual seats and a full-length center console with folding tray tables.

The Mercedes-Benz Maybach S560 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 making 463 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes mated to a 9-speed G-Tronic transmission and this manages and directs all the power to all the wheels.

The most powerful of the above is the Rolls-Royce Ghost, which makes 563hp and 605 lb-ft of torque. Following this is the Bentley Mulsanne, which makes 505hp and 752lb-ft of torque, and then comes the least powerful of the above cars the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S560 making 463hp and 516lb-ft of torque.

The Mercedes-Benz Maybach S560 does the 0-60 sprint in 4.7 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 13.1 seconds. It will continue to its top speed of 130 mph, which is quite good for a large luxury sedan.

Ride and Handling

The brilliant adaptive cruise control on the Maybach uses navigation data inputs to adjust the speed of the car. Apart from this, the car handles like a dream, the steering is just right, it is not heavy, nor light but it feels lighter than other cars. The car comes with air suspension, which makes you feel like you are not rolling on a road but gliding above it, and this is quite calming making you enjoy the ride even more.

However, it still is 7.9 inches longer than the S-class, offering more legroom in the rear. However, one thing that even the Ghost cannot compete with is the backseat of the Maybach S560. Agreed, that the engine in the Maybach S560 is smaller, but it doesn't feel underpowered anytime. It has all the power you'll ever need. On top of that, it is nearly $146,000 cheaper than the Ghost.

Mercedes-Benz Maybach S560 vs Bentley Mulsanne 

Bentley, since its very first car, has given the world some great cars. The Mulsanne is no different. It has a massive V12 churning out insane power and torque figures. Both the backseat and front seats are as luxurious as it can get. The looks are imposing and classy. On its own, the Bentley Mulsanne is a great car, maybe better than the Maybach S560, but consider the fact that for a Mulsanne you'll pay nearly double the amount you pay for a Maybach S560, and you'll love the S560 again.

The Mercedes Maybach S560 with the new 4.0 liter V8 has become even more desirable than before. The rear seats are the benchmark of luxury. With a starting price of $168,600, it is a bargain, only if you consider its closest rivals, and justifying a $69,000 premium over the normal S-class is a bit difficult. Still, getting out of the car with a Maybach emblem on it is a sign that whatever you do, you do in sheer luxury and comfort.
