Overall Rating
The 2019 Buick Enclave is an answer to its competitors in the midsize segment. This latest iteration is similar to the previous generation model but has some minor updates to offer.
The 2019 Buick Enclave remains a carry-over from its 2018 model with no major updates. However, the flagship Buick SUV does endorse some very fine additions. The subtle revisions include the renaming of the previously “Base 4-door model as Preferred” and the induction of a heated steering wheel in the Premium and Avenir trims. Rest everything remains exactly the same as earlier models. What also remains familiar is its asking MSRP which once again kicks around $40,000 for the Preferred trim.
To get the most out of your money, we recommend the premium variant as it offers some great features like Telescopic and power tilt steering, mirror position memory and many more advanced features which makes this car a perfect choice for its money.

The Buick Enclave is available in 4 variants, i:e. Preferred, Essence, Premium, and Avenir. The new Enclave has a base price of $40,000 and goes up to $53,500 for the top “Avenir” variant. A 3.6-liter V6 coupled with a 9-speed automatic remain the only powertrain option for the 2019 Enclave.
The Preferred trim is the only variant that comes with the front-wheel drive option while the remaining 3 variants have an option to choose between either front or all-wheel drive. The second variant, Essence comes with standard features bundled with some additional safety features. The third variant, Premium comes bundled with more safety and luxury features. Finally the topmost trim, Avenir offers all the features at par with its rivals which even happen to be on par with some luxury products above its class.

We recommend -
To get the most out of your money, we recommend the premium variant as it offers some great features like Telescopic and power tilt steering, mirror position memory and many more advanced features which makes this car a perfect choice for its money.
The Buick Enclave has a 3.6-liter V-6 engine producing 310hp with 266 lb-ft of torque, which is common to all the trims. The 2019 enclave has a slightly upgraded engine when compared to its previous model, producing 22 hp more which makes it the most powerful Buick Enclave ever produced.
Also shared with the Chevrolet Traverse, the V6 engine is lively and produces thrust on demand, but shivers down at higher rpm. The 9-speed automatic transmission works like a charm due to its precision and smoothness. While rolling, The Enclave feels powerful and agile and the energetic powertrain, especially at the lower end, hides its hefty mass pretty well.

Among the competition here, the Chevrolet Traverse L offers the same performance as that of the Enclave and at a lesser price. The Chevrolet Traverse is also a good option for a person who is on a budget but is hungry for power. When compared to its rivals, the Enclave shares the stage with the Traverse and GMC Acadia in terms of power output.
While on the outside, the bulky Enclave may not seem light on its feet but that's actually not the case here. The 3.6 liter V-6 helps the Enclave to go from 0 to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds which is pretty amazing for its class and size. Thanks to its balanced weight distribution, efficient AWD, and energetic transmission.
The Enclave does seem to impress with its sprinting skills which only get pronounced when compared with its rivals. Despite its heavy feature-suite and premium propositions, the 2019 Enclave is as quick as the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia.

However, among the competition here, the Envision seems to be the quickest with a 0-60 mph time of just 6.4 seconds. Marginally better than the other trio here. Thanks to the Envision’s compact and lightweight proportions though.
To curb its steady and potent momentum, the 2019 Buick Enclave comes equipped with 4-wheel ABS as well as Emergency brake preparation. However, its braking performance is not as delightful as its overall performance.
Stopping from 60-0 mph takes about 134 feet and under harder applications, you do observe some brake-fade alongside a minor nose-dive.

While the complete braking data of all the contestants above is not yet available but the Enclave still seems to be on the lower half of the spectrum. Not only are the other three rivals equipped with the exact same braking mechanism, but their unique dynamics also result in different scores on the braking test sheet.
Out on the roads is where the 2019 Buick Enclave truly translates its premium presentation. All thanks to Buick for a precise steering wheel and nicely tuned suspension which is neither too soft nor too harsh. The suspension is very active and does a good job of swallowing road undulations and the dynamics keep noise and vibrations inside the cabin under fair check. However, you do get some small amount of road noise seeping inside the cabin.
It rolls like a charm without making you feel disconnected from the road. The front-wheel variant, when compared to the all-wheel-drive variants, feels light and quicker but the AWD variants feel more real and roll neatly around quick corners due to its upscale rear axle. Top trims also offer an adaptive suspension system which improves the driving experience and makes it smooth no matter the terrain.
With all its delicious ornamentation and premium aspirations, one would assume the 2019 Enclave to be a gas-guzzler only to be proved wrong. In fact, the Enclave offers a fairly handsome economy of 21 mpg combined. Noteworthy is the fact that this comes up with three-row seating and a large body.

When placed against its segment rivals, the Buick Enclave seems to be on the average side of things, which is not always a bad thing. While the GMC with its smaller 2.0-liter turbo pot does offer best in class efficiency of 22 combined mpg, the difference among the group members here is only marginal.
The Buick offers a comfortable set of 3 rows which can fit 7 passengers without any issues. Also, Buick has provided a pair of captain's chairs in the middle and a bench seat in the third row in all of its trims to improve the comfort of the passengers. With the amount of seating space this SUV has along with the sound insulating materials, the ride becomes less raucous and peaceful. On the inside, the 2019 Buick Enclave welcomes you with a spacious and premium cabin which is wrapped in soft-touch materials, especially on the dash and door panels. However, at some places like the lower-end of the central tunnel, you might come across cheap plastic.Â
Nevertheless, the cabin layout of the Enclave is very premium with a floating dashboard engraved with beautiful wooden and metallic accents. Furthermore, you can also get this flagship Buick SUV with a two-tone interior theme. Coming to the seats, they have soft leather cushioning and have good padding as well. The seats up front are wide and very supportive and also come along with power adjustability, heating as well as ventilation. However, for such delicacies, you would need to go for the higher trims. Even the captain seats at the back have a comfortable recline degree and based upon your trim choice, they can also be grabbed with multi-level heating.

The Buick has also provided its state-of-the-art LATCH hardware which includes both top and lower tether anchors for a child seat. This car also has a smart slide for the second row which makes access to the third row easy. In terms of cabin space, the Enclave offers the best in class front row headroom and legroom. However, at the second and third-row it's not as generous as the Chevrolet Traverse.
The standard variant of the Enclave comes with many standard features which a rider can imagine along with some extras included. The standard trim comes bundled with the 4.2 '' diagonal color Driver information center, an 8" diagonal high resolution, color touch-screen with Buick infotainment system and Buick's interlink system. The system also comes along with smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The audio system provided by the Buick is a standard 6 speaker system with active noise cancellation. The higher trims though club along with a bonkers 10-speaker Bose premium audio which is very soothing to the eardrums. The infotainment screen is not the sharpest but offers good visibility along with a clean interface. However, the same can’t be said about the system’s responsiveness which does get a bit laggy at times. Other standard features include a WI-FI hotspot, Siri Eyes Free, and natural voice control along 6 USB ports distributed evenly across the car.
The 2019 Enclave has a generous amount of boot space. The boot space behind the 3rd row is 23.6 cu.ft. and increases by 58 cu.ft. when the second-row seats are folded down thereby giving an enormous boot space of 97.6 cu.ft.
To further ease upon practicality, the boot-lid opens wide and even the loading height is within the comfortable limit of an average-sized adult.

In the tightly contested segment here, the 2019 Buick Enclave impresses again with its high practicality quotient. The Buick’s cargo space is only second to the Traverse here and that too with a small margin. With 98.2 cu.ft. of cargo space, Chevrolet takes the crown, although not by much.
After producing the first generation of the Enclave, the Buick has stepped up the game by introducing the 2019 variant. Its sculpted yet sleek design comes from the 2018 Enclave. It rolls on a 120.9-inch wheelbase and measures 204.3 inches end-to-end. The elegant design by the Buick makes the Enclave look more like a big sports SUV rather than a boxy-looking SUV.
On the overall visual front, the 2019 Enclave is instantly identified as the flagship Buick SUV. Thanks to the signature chrome-studded grille at the front flanked by slim LED headlamps. At the side, the bolder wheel-arches get along with the chrome-wrapped upward-tapering window-line very well for a muscular yet elegant presence. At the rear, the simplistic formulae repeat itself with slim horizontal tail lamps integrated by a chrome piece and chrome-tipped dual exhausts.

The new Enclave comes with a waterfall grille for the first 3 variants, the Avenir variant gets its own uniquely styled grille. The rear side has a chrome accent that merges into the taillights. Overall, the Enclave thoughtfully integrates its long wheelbase with a sleek yet curvy profile.
The result of this convergence is a remarkable presence that not only oozes premiumness but also feels more expensive than it really is. In contrast to the Enclave’s youthful attire, the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia concentrate heavily on the traditional SUV outfit.
Exterior Features
The 2019 Buick Enclave comes bundled with a host of features -
For any car in the market out there which tries to resonate itself with “premiumness”, it gets very essential to offer an overwhelming sense of security. The 2019 Buick Enclave is no exception in that regard. This midsize family SUV comes equipped with state-of-the art safety drivers assistance.
Some of the highlights include 4-wheel ABS, stability and traction control, pre and post-collision safety system as well as bilnd-spot and lane-departure warning systems. Along with these amenities, the Enclave’s aluminium and high-strength steel chassis further add to its overall safety with reinforced rigidity. Some other highlights of the 2019 Buick Enclave’s safety suite are listed below for reference:
Some safety features of the 2019 Buick Enclave
The Chevrolet Traverse is an identical twin of the Buick Enclave as both of these are under GM. There are many similarities that can be drawn between these two, from engine and transmission to the overall cargo space and seating capacity.
The Chevy surely has an edge when it comes to the price tag as the Enclave costs $10,000 more than the Chevy. Though traverse lacks many features that come as standard in the Enclave, but if you are looking for a daily driver on a tight budget and are happy without some additional features, then the Traverse is the perfect choice for you.
The GMC Acadia - Another GM SUV which is similar to the Enclave yet they both are different SUVs with a common parent company. The Acadia Denali has the same engine as that of the Enclave, producing the same amount of power.
The main reason why the Enclave wins here is that the base model of the Enclave offers more features and has a similar engine as that of the Acadia Denali, and comes with a price tag less than the Acadia Denali.
The Buick offers 4 trims in the latest iteration of the Enclave with a 3.6 L V-6 engine as standard for all the trims. If you are looking for something which is both luxurious and affordable and produces an amazing amount of power, then the 2019 Buick Enclave is for you. Affordability doesn't always mean a cheaper price tag, sometimes you have to bend the rules and Buick has done the same thing with the Enclave. They are offering a great array of features along with a great engine and transmission combination which makes this car a complete bang for its buck. There might be other rivals out there surpassing this car, but with what it is offering, the Enclave really stands out.
