The 2019 Cadillac XT4 features a workhorse 2.0L I4 engine build into it. The capable engine delivers 237 hp of power as well as 258 lb.-ft. of torque. It is complemented by a receptive 9-speed automatic transmission mode. While the engine is buttery smooth the experience is downgraded by the sluggish feeling transmission. Within the city you get ample torque to deal with the traffic conditions and while on the highway it provides excellent passing power. When it comes to mile-munching, the motor scores excellent marks but if you are looking for a quick crossover, you might be a bit disappointed.
In the segment, Volvo XC 40 offers the most power of 248 hp. Thereafter comes the Lincoln MKC with 245 hp of power. Buick Envision delivers the least power of 197 hp, generated by a 2.5L I4 engine.

Ride and Handling
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 hasn't been tested for handling and steering yet. Therefore, the best that we can do is deduce. As the ride is based on the mighty XT5, it might have a few or almost most driving perks of its older sibling. What's new with the drive is an electro-hydraulic brake assist feature. It is aimed at cutting fuel consumption while delivering the best driving experience.
Moreover, the Cadillac XT4 features CDC (Continuous Damping Control). This feature modifies the damper's valve constantly on the basis of a number of key driving parameters. It is, however, optional with the ride. Furthermore, CDC is lighter and less expensive than that of the air suspension or the famous MagneRide. To smoothen the driving experience, XT4 features a front strut in addition to a five-link rear suspension.
Braking performance
Brake sizes for the 2019 Cadillac XT4 aren't yet disclosed by the manufacturer. Volvo XC 40 has the biggest front brake in the competition, 13.6 inches in length. On the flip side, it also has the smallest rear brake in the league, measuring 11.9 inches. The braking performance is not all that great but just under the acceptable limit for the Cadillac XT4.
