Overall Rating
The Lincoln Continental has been around for a long time now. The Continental has undergone some major transformations, ever since its inception, to keep up with modern cars.
A pure American luxurious sedan, the Lincoln Continentalis an amalgamation of luxury and practicality. With its smooth ride quality and great performance under the hood, the 2019 Continental is back to prove why it's the ultimate American 4-wheeler to prove to be a bang for the buck.
We review the Continental Premier with the FWD option that comes with a 3.7L V6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, churning 307 horses and 280 pound-feet of torque. The large luxury sedan houses an extensive list of opulent features and with it, a grand table of safety parameters and technology.
The Reserve trim offers a great balance between performance, features, and cost. It also comes with the optional turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 for those who need that extra punch. Even though it is slightly expensive, the 2019 Reserve trim comes with plenty of features as standard.

The 2019 Lincoln Continental is available in four trim levels. The base trim comes with a good amount of features included as standard but is limited by the list of options that are made available. The Select trim is the one placed right above the base model and comes with slight upgrades but a much more vast options list. The Reserve rim packs in significantly more features and the range-topping Black Label trim comes with a luxury interior, several features as standard, and other services.

The base model of the Continental falls behind the competition. The Genesis G80 is the most powerful among the bunch with a 5-liter V8 engine. The Cadillac and Audi are evenly matched in terms of power.
The continental is not the fastest accelerating car. The luxury sedan is heavy and takes a while to get to 60 mph. The sedan takes 5.8 seconds to get to 60 mph. The acceleration is commendable for a luxury sedan but falls behind some of the more fine-tuned and performance-focused sedans.
For that extra punch, the Continental also offers other engine options that can spice up the performance. For the base model, a quarter-mile takes 14 seconds and it is evident that the sedan is not meant for standing quarter drag racing.

The Audi A6 is the fastest in the range. While the Genesis comes with a 5-liter V8 engine, the bulk of the car makes it slow to accelerate.
The Continental offers a better ride than other Lincoln counterparts. It's not very soft and wobbly with a little stiffer suspension and stiffened chassis. The suspension has been firmed up a little too much with a ride a bit harder than most luxury sedans. The ride quality can be best described as average. When compared to the German luxury sedan lineup, the Lincoln falls behind in terms of ride quality.
The steering is responsive and agile. The car tackles corners better with the stiffer suspension settings. The steering is one of the best in the segment and offers precise and strong handling performance for the Continental.
The braking distance is almost the same across the range. The Continental comes to stop from 60 mph in under 110 feet. The Lincoln Continental comes with 13.9 inches diameter discs at the front and gets 13.6 inches diameter discs at the rear. The braking performance gives you confidence when driving the car and it holds itself against the competition well.

The Audi is the most fuel-efficient in the bunch with a smaller engine and lesser heft than the competition. TheGenesis G80 is the least fuel-efficient with its massive V8 engine. The Continental sits in the middle, along with the Cadillac CT6, which is more efficient than the Genesis G80.
The Lincoln Continental cabin reflects its luxurious roots with an exquisite cabin that adorned premium materials and quality elements. The infotainment system in the Lincoln Continental is pretty basic. The Sync 3 infotainment system borrowed from Ford doesn't have the vast array of features offered by the competition.
The display also is below par, with heavy glare and inadequate brightness on a sunny day. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are added as standard. There are plenty of USB ports for both the front and rear passengers.Â
Some of the key features of the infotainment system are:
The 2019 Lincoln Continental offers 16.7-cubic-foot of cargo space. It is smaller than most of the competition. There are lots of storage spaces offered in the Continental. The glove box in the middle of the front row is reasonably sized while the rest of the storage options are small in comparison.Â

The Lincoln Continental is on the heavier side and only surpassed by the Genesis G80. TheCadillac is the longest car in the bunch while Genesis is the widest. The Continental sits in the middle with its moderate size and iconic design.
The 2019 Lincoln Continental does come with a lot of safety features. The 360-degree surround camera is a nice addition as is the Driver Assisted Parking System.
Some Safety features in the Continental are:
The Cadillac CT6 base model comes with a much smaller engine than the Lincoln Continental. For both the cars there are different engine options available. The Cadillac offers more space inside the cabin than the Continental. Both of them are evenly matched in terms of performance and can trade blows all day long.
The Audi A6 offers better driving dynamics compared to the Lincoln. With its smaller engine and lower weight, the Audi also offers more in terms of fuel economy. While the Lincoln Continental does have the edge over the Audi when it comes to power, the Audi packs in more technological and safety features that are much desired in a luxury sedan.
The Lincoln Continental offers luxury features and great performance at a reasonable price point. The variety of engine options and customizations make it easier to configure it exactly to your liking. It looks classy and provides a reasonable driving experience. But with the German luxury sedans offering more features and advanced technology, it seems like the Lincoln Continental is falling short of a modern touch.
