Overall Rating
The Mclaren 570s steps into its 2019 model year now and with no changes over 2018. Available as a 2-door coupe or a drop-top spider, the 2019 McLaren 570s coupe is priced at $192,500 and offers familiar breath-taking performance.

Since there aren’t many trim-lines or models to fiddle with, you can have the 2019 McLaren 570s in just one mechanical configuration. Though there’s a convertible available as well but the comparatively lighter coupe is a tad better in overall performance. Above all, you can customize it the way you want. For its price and composition, the 570s would deliver everything you could have asked from it.

With its exotic yet fierce composition, the 2019 McLaren 570s is available in just one trim as earlier. However, if you do like a bit more style and open-air fun, you can grab the 570s Spider which starts at $211,300. For its price and ambition though, the McLaren 570s though overlooks the creature-comfort part but does get a thoroughbred-performance tuning like sport adaptive suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, ceramic brakes, sport seats and a rack-pinion speed-sensing steering.

If its standard packaging is not enough for you, you can shop from a long list of optional goodies. The optional lane could get you a track-pack which includes lighter wheels. Sport-tuned exhausts, carbon-fiber addenda and a telemetry system. An optional “Luxury Package’ would also add premium amenities like heated seats and a 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio. However, the optional shopping cart would surely hke up its asking price to a significant extent.

At the heart of the 2019 McLaren 570s lies a furious 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a 7-speed automated manual transmission. The powertrain pumps out 562 hp and is an absolute surpris in its business. Put your foot on the accelerator and you are more likely to expose your neck-column to some serious counter-adaptations. It's that quick and punchy. This is the same engine which also powers some of its other siblings like the McLaren 600LT but in a slightly higher state of tune.
Well, the 562 hp output is already bonkers but what makes it responsiveness even more pronounced is a lighter 3200 lbs body coupled with an efficient aerodynamics. What further enhances the engagement is the lightning quick and strong linear wave of power throughout the driving range. At any point of time, you have loads of power-reserve for any fun or passing you want to indulge in. Courtesy also goes to the super-quick and responsive 7-speed transmission.

In the competition here, all the three cars are as exotic in their layout with a similar power output. However, the Ferrari Portofino has a marginal power lead over the other two with its 592 hp output. Driving each of these one after another though, you won't actually notice the Ferrari’s power advantage.
Interestingly, while the McLaren and Ferrari here flash their turbo V8’s, the Lamborghini grunts with its very familiar naturally-aspirated V10. Perhaps it's the only V10-powered thing that you can in this segment. The Lambo’s two extra cylinder’s though don’t bring any proportionate power increase over its other two rivals.
While its dynamic character does make the 570s a car you can live with in the city-traffic, it's surely better suited to a track. Thanks to its immense power powered by a lightweight body and a blistering twin-turbo V8.
Try pushing it to the limits and the 570s would charge from 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. While that start is certainly outrageous, the V8’s continuous power-build and a thumping mid-range help it ace the quarter-mile in an astonishing 10.8 seconds. That's some serious business.

With somewhat identical power figures, all the rivals are similarly quick in terms of 0-60 times. While the Portofino and Lamborghini Huracan post identical time figures, the McLaren 570s aces ahead with its 3.2 second 0-60 run. Well, that's the kind of aid efficient dynamics help you with and McLaren is a champion in hooking these onto their cars. The same formula even blesses the 570s with the most effective brakes among the lot here. No surprise, the 570s’ 60-0 braking distance is shorter than its other two rivals.
On the move, the 570s surprise you in no time with its dynamic and flavorful character. Although it's not very comfortable or cozy but for fun lovers it's sheer paradise. No surprise, the suspension is on the stiffer side and gets a bit bumpy in city traffic but that's not what it meant to do. Hit a winding twisty road and that's where the 570s’ adaptive sport suspension comes alive.
At higher speeds, the 570s feels planted, happy and very confident and at tears corners like a sharp knife. No understeer or body movements whatsoever but if pulled through corners vehemently, its dancing tail will make you grin from ear to ear. And god, that steering is a sheer delight to hold and flick around. The steering is so responsive and precise that it exaggerates the drive engagement in a way that you would want this thing to spin around all day long.
Supercars are not the ideal candidates to look for if you have “fuel efficiency” on your mind. However, if you are into calculations, the 2019 McLaren 570s would return you an 18 combined mpg. Well, considering its overall character and performance, that's surely overwhelming for something that goes from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

Among the rivals though, the McLaren 570s shared the tag of “most efficient” together with the Ferrari Portofino which also returns 19 combined mpg. With a bigger V10 engine though it's no surprise that the Lamborghini Huracan stands at the bottom of the table with its 15 combined mpg.
On the inside of the McLaren 570s you are greeted by a typical McLaren layout which is as usual sprinkled with plenty of leather all around. The black-leather on the dashboard and the steering feels soft and plush while the chrome highlights around the infotainment and A.C vents work very well with the dark interior theme. The chrome paddle shifters not only look very premium but feel good to click as well.
Interestingly, you can also get a generous carbon-fiber trim-insert around the cabin like the door-panels, steering wheel, gear-shift paddles, switch-surrounds and sill finishers. As standard you do get sports seats with soft leather upholstery but through options you can also get them heated and powered alongside Nappa leather upholstery or even the carbon-fiber race seats. The narrow seats with low height though aren’t the most comfortable.

The cabin of the 570s certainly spills performance and luxury at the same time in terms of fiot and finish but not space for sure. While its rivals offer a similar ambience on the inside, the Mclaren’s swing-doors with wider door-sills make things a bit inconvenient for you. While the Lamborghini is almost similar in its cabin presentation, we find the Ferrari Portofino a bit more humble as far as cabin layout and presentation is concerned.
Infotainment needs in the 2019 McLaren 570s are taken care of by a 7.0-inch portrait style touchscreen sitting in the middle of the dash. The screen is sharp and crisp but is not the most responsive to user-inputs out there. There’s also a 10-inch single piece digital instrument cluster which is crisp and easy to customize.
Thankfully, the system takes good care of your connectivity needs with standard fitment including WiFi, Bluetooth, USB and Navigation. A visit to the optional’s shop would also get you a 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins premium audio along with a Telemetry system to track your track and lap timings. Some of the infotainment highlights are listed below:
It's no hugger-mugger that supercars like the McLaren 570s are not meant to be practical in their orientation, especially in terms of cargo. While the 570s does offer a 5.3 cu-ft of trunk at the front, it's better suited for a small office bag and a pair of boots at max. Even the in-cabin storages are almost non-existent. Thanks to its weight-saving measures in place to intensify performance.

Among the rivals though, things do get a bit surprising with the Ferrari Portofino. While the Lamborghini Huracan is as good as the McLaren in terms of cargo, the Ferrari offers a generous 10.0-cu-ft of cargo space at its back. Thanks to the portofino’s longer body, comparatively humble design and a more civilised “grand-touring” inclination.
On the outside, the 2019 McLaren 570s carries the signature McLaren sports design that we are used to know for quite some time. You get the same wide front-bumper with carbon-fiber splitters along with slim automatic projector headlamps. The lower height works well with its flared fenders to give it a solid and wide stance. Alongwith its clearcoat paint options, the 570s also gets plenty of black treatment. Be it the body-side mouldings or inderts, rocker-panel extensions, window trims or the rear bumper, it's all black.
Talking about the rear bumper, it's glanked by a carbon-fiber splitter again as well as a lip-spoiler and twin steel exhaust tips. And oh well ! The slim very slim “inverted-C'' shaped tail lamps look absolutely stunning. Perhaps where the 570s is most dramatic on the outside is onto its side. Thanks to its curvy roofline, large 19 and 20’ inch silver-cast alloys at the front and back respectively alongside aide-body air-scoops. Down a lane, the McLaren 570s is nothing short than a piece of art.

Among the competition here, each of the contenders have a very unique design of their. The Huracan and 570s emphasize a lot on their futuristic and sport-oriented design which also tends to bring in alot of weight savings. The Ferrari Portofino on the other hand follows a more civilised exterior design with its longest and heaviest body in the league here.
Also, the Portofino brings in a seamless hardtop convertible design which looks stunning with the roof up and probably you won't know it's a convertible. Perhaps don't let the term ‘humble’ fool you since the Ferrari here is as good a stunner in terms of performance and presence as the other two rivals.
Pertaining to its hardcore performanc attributes, high price and limited sales, cars like the 2019 McLaren 570s are not crash-tested by fedeal agencies. However, McLaren has a long history and importantly one which has significantly built upon a great reputation in terms of supercar reliability and safety. To tame its adrenal rush, the 2019 McLaren 570s comes with a health safety mechanism including 6 airbags, side-impact beams along with front and rear anti-roll bars. Some of its other safety highlights are listed below:
While both the Ferrari and McLaren here are similar in terms of packaging, they are slightly distinct in their approach. With its aggressive design and well-controlled dynamics, the McLaren is a bit quicker and sharper than the Portofino.
However, the Portofino is no child's play either. It's as quick as the 570s, has an eye-catching design, offers better cargo and passenger space and is also loaded with more features compared to the McLaren. Importantly, because of its grand-touring character, the Portofino is also more comfortable in city speeds as well as long stretches.
Both the 570s and Lamborghini Huracan have a great appetite for speed and performance. Not only both these hot machines are equally specced but also have a similarly outrageous design. However, compared to the McLaren, the Lamborghini here is a bit more spacious and airy on the inside along with a few more features as well.
However, the 570s is not only more efficient, it also gains some edge in terms of handling and engine thrust compared to the Huracan. Even in terms of braking, the 570s is the one blessed with the better mechanism.
Well, if you're looking for a true supercar in the $200,000 price category, the McLaren 570s is the one which comes closest to the essential definition of a ‘Supercar”. Well it may not be the most decorated for its police and class but its performance, design, acceleration and incredible handling would swipe everything else out of your head.
While the McLaren 570s can be a city-dweller, if you are going to spend more time commuting in the city and in fact need that extra bling, the Ferrari Portofino would then serve you best. The Ferrari is more dynamic and comfortable than the 570s which is all about performance and exhilarating speeds. However, there’s no denying that the overall package which the 570s delivers is unlike anything in its class.
