About 2019 Porsche 911 GT3

3.7

Overall Rating

Porsche 911 GT3 is a purpose-built track weapon that gives thorough bread supercars like Audi R8, Jaguar F-Type SVR, and Mercedes-Benz AMG-GT a run for the money

Derived from the 911 R racecar, the 911 GT3 is a road-going version of the most visceral and analog experience money can buy. The combination of a naturally aspirated flat-6, a big wing, stiffer suspension, and bespoke aero treatment means it’s unlike any new Porsche on the road. The 911 GT3 is brewed well for a track. Light where it has to be, sharp where it can be. It makes a hell of an upgrade over the latter with lighter components stiffer sprung suspension. But these performance upgrades also make this an excellent canyon carving tool that helps you feel and connect with the tarmac underneath in a way that’s just not possible with most modern supercars.

There are only a few additions as you go up to GT3 RS from the base model, the GT3. The most important of which is the enhanced power and torque. However, the max speed goes down to compensate for the inclusion of large tires. The design and aerodynamics of the GT3 RS are more aggressive than its sibling.

Besides that, there aren't many differences between the two makes. The price gap between the two is about $44k. Things are different for racing coupes than that of other non-racing rides. Therefore, GT3 is for casual racers who like to put a load on the accelerator not often, whereas GT3 RS is for those obsessed with speed and performance.

2019 Porsche 911 GT3 Review

Pros

  • Optional Manual Transmission
  • Largest naturally aspirated Porsche flat-6
  • Comfortable interiors

Cons

  • Ride too Stiff for the road
  • Expensive options list

Porsche 911 GT3 is a purpose-built track weapon that gives thorough bread supercars like Audi R8, Jaguar F-Type SVR, and Mercedes-Benz AMG-GT a run for the money

Overview

Pricing and Features
6.0/10

Porsche 911 GT3 is available in two trims, namely, 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS. Pricing options for the former start from $143,600 while the latter starts from $187,500. Compared to the 500 hp and 339 lb.-ft. torque delivered by the GT3, GT3 RS delivers an additional 20 hp of power and 7 lb.-ft. of torque. The maximum achievable speed for GT3 and GT3 RS are 320 km/h and 312 km/h, respectively.

Trims

911 GT3

MSRP

$143,600

Features

4.0-liter flat-six engine (500 hp, 339 lb-ft)

seven-speed PDK or a unique six-speed manual gearbox

A fixed rear wing and unique front end and underbody treatments enhance its aerodynamic performance

a mechanical limited-slip (PDK-equipped GT3s have an active differential)

Rear-wheel steering

active engine mounts

While GT3 has more length than GT3 RS, the latter has more height and width. 911 GT3 takes about 3.8 seconds to hit the 60 MPH mark. The same feat is achieved by the GT3 RS in about 3.2 seconds. Other than differences in the specifications, there are also a few distinctions to the interior as well as the exterior. For instance, the GT3 RS comes with a big spoiler that is absent in the 911 GT3.

We Recommend

Engine and Performance
9.5/10

The 911 GT3 is powered by a rear active mounted 4-liter naturally aspirated 6 cylinder boxer engine. Which puts out strangle-free 500 hp and 339-pound foot and all that manic horses are released on the rear wheels. And that lends a strong driving character to already rear heavy car. The electronics work overtime to check that habit of the GT3.

Mercedes-Benz AMG-GT is behind with a total torque of 465 lb.-ft. Audi R8 delivers 398 lb.-ft. of torque. Mercedes-Benz AMG-GT is 469 hp strong. Audi R8 and Jaguar F-Type SVR both have above 500 power of 540 hp and 575 hp, respectively.

Acceleration

Acceleration is one of the solid points of the Porsche 911 GT3. It takes about 3.8 seconds to hit 60 MPH. This is the quickest in the challenge. Both Audi R8 and Jaguar F-Type SVR tie at 3.5 seconds, while the Mercedes-Benz AMG-GT takes 3.9 seconds to accomplish a similar accomplishment.

It all brings in a lot to the driving seat and it just builds for the heck of driving. Actually, the purest form of it.
