It struggles with rear-seat legroom and cargo space, along with the absence of some of the standard features in the market these days like Android Auto.
Porsche, with the Macan SUV, tried a different approach to the SUV segment by placing it below the much-revered Cayenne SUV. The Macan offers a sporty performance with agile handling and a compact form-factor than the Cayenne. With a starting at the base price of $49,900, Porsche offers a single powertrain with the standard Macan which consists of a 2.0L Turbo Inline-4 engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The power plant punches out 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
The Porsche Macan is available in only one trim so far this year. But the good news is that it comes along with many optional features and packages such as the Sport Chrono package that you can opt for and customize your Porsche accordingly. Or else you can wait for some more time and go to the other higher trims when they get released later this year.

The top-end S trim gets a bigger and more powerful turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and comes with 19-inch wheels, more powerful brakes, different exterior trim types, and dual twin-pipe exhaust ports along with all the standard features from the Base trim.

The Porsche Macan is available in two trims yet the Base trim would suit most of the driving conditions and the S trim is best suited for those who seek to have a compact and powerful SUV. Though this year's Macan is powered by the same powertrain from the previous model year, they have tuned down the powertrain just a little. Porsche installed a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline 4 engine that is capable of generating 248 horsepower and 273 lb. ft torque. This engine comes paired with a 7-speed automatic PDK transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. Rather than overwhelming the Macan with brute strength Porsche has made it more agile with multiple suspension settings. The engine sound is melodious and the power delivery is linear. With an exception for the crossover shell, the Macan acts and behaves like a true sports car.

Going up against the competitors, the Porsche Macan is at par with the rivals with almost similar power and torque figures. The Volvo XC60 has the best power rating while both the Macan and the GLC 300 has the highest torque figures among the rivals on the list.
Even with lesser horses, Porsche managed to keep its performance on par. Now how did they do that? They stripped down some extra weight from the front suspension to gain satisfactory results. It is still capable of attaining a speed of 60 MPH in 6. 3 seconds. For even better performance you can go for the Sports Chrono package which is usually priced around $1,000 more but decreases the time duration to 6.1 seconds.

With this acceleration, the 2019 Porsche Macan performs on par and in some cases even better than most of its competitors. However, it still lags when compared to the BMW X3 and the Volvo XC60.
It might look like an SUV but the Macan shares the core of a true sports car. Porsche even kept the powertrain simple and infused all their mechanical creativity into the suspension settings. Speaking of suspension settings, the brand offers you three choices, steel springs with damper, steel springs with adjustable dampers, or air springs with adjustable dampers. Apart from that Porsche made a bunch of changes starting with the weight reduction, revised anti-rollover bars, new engine mounts, and new tire choices.
Moreover, it comes equipped with the standard Porsche Stability Management system and Porsche Traction Management System that keeps it quite stable when at high speed. Although the Macan is not such an off-roader as the others. However, it can handle itself well on a little patchy road.
The 2019 Porsche Macan comes with 13.6 inches internally vented brake rotors with 4-piston aluminum monobloc fixed calipers in the front and 13 inches internally vented brake rotors with floating calipers in the back. However, nothing can be said about their performance so far.

The Porsche Macan might not have the capacity to tow as much as the Velar or the X3. However, it is quite a better hauler than the GLC 300 and XC60

The Porsche Macan is the least fuel-efficient of all while the rest of the competitors are quite similar in terms of city, highway, and combined mileage figures. Despite Porsche's best efforts to make the Macan quite fuel-efficient, its enhanced sportiness hinders the overall mileage rating of the vehicle.

The new Macan has quite a congested cargo cabin when compared to the others in the class. However, the Velar still leads the class with its spacious cargo volume.
Porsche's first compact SUV attempt was a master design failure, people and critics were equally resistant to the change. However, with time, the design has evolved into something more aggressive and attractive.
The 2019 iteration comes with a revamped design and looks more powerful and aggressive than before. Its front gets a little wider and is installed with LED headlights, whereas the tailgate lights illuminate the Porsche logo to make it more daunting.

The BMW X3 belongs to one of the oldest models of the class. However, after so many years, it has started looking a bit aged. While on the other hand, the new and redesigned Macan is quite aggressive and beastly in style. Although the BMW X3 is better in all the other aspects when compared to the new Macan. So if you can compromise with the look the BMW X3 could be a better option even for providing you a sporty drive.
The 2019 Porsche Macan has entered the market with quite some extravagant features along with a new look. Nimble handling and sportiness are what this crossover has to offer, however, it still lags when compared to others in the class.
