Overall Rating
The 2019 Porsche Panamera is Porsche’s take on the four-door luxury sedan segment. The Panamera shows Porsche’s prowess in making a superior driver’s car even with four-door and longer wheelbase, but all that comes at a premium with a hefty MSRP this Porsche car ain’t cheap by all means
The Porsche Panamera is pretty quick but comfortable enough to be your daily driver. Compared to the first-generation Panamera, the 2019 car is superior in every area that matters. The steering is remarkably precise, made even better when one takes on options such as the Sport package that brings launch control and rear-wheel steering.
Despite its length, the Panamera takes corners like a champ, aided again by a host of electronic upgrades including Porsche’s Torque Vectoring technology and an adaptive air suspension. Power can be routed to either the rear wheels or all four, the former being the choice of most purists, the latter is a better option for casual drivers and those regularly dealing with snow. Gear changes are left to Porsche’s excellent PDK twin-clutch 8-speed automatic, while horsepower ranges from 330 hp on the base Panamera to a mind-numbing 550 hp generated by the Panamera Turbo’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.Â
The all-wheel-drive Panamera 4S variant is the go-to Porsche if you are hoping to get the best out of your Porsche. However, if money is not your primary concern then you should look at the Panamera GTS and get the optional package to include the equipment you like which is available in the top-end Panamera turbo variant.

The 2019 Porsche Panamera is available in three different body styles with five different powertrains. Equipment levels change as you climb up the ladder, but no matter which one you choose, each Panamera is highly customizable. At the bottom of the ladder, there's the only rear-wheel-drive Panamera, the base trim. From there, trim is all-wheel-drive: the Panamera 4, Panamera 4S, Panamera GTS, and the Panamera Turbo.
Everything above the base trim is also offered in the Executive body style (except the GTS), which is a longer version of the Panamera that adds more than 4 inches of rear legroom. The 4, 4S, GTS, and Turbo models are also available in a Sport Turismo body style, which has a bigger hatchback cargo area. All Panameras come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four seats. (A middle rear seat is optional.)

For 2019, there are 18 Panamera trims and six engine choices. The 2019 Panamera (4, 4 Sport Turismo) is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo V6 good for 330 horsepower. The 4S models are powered by a 440-horsepower twin-turbocharged direct-injection 2.9-liter V6, while the Panamera Turbo receives a 550-horsepower twin-turbocharged direct-injection 4.0-liter V8 with cylinder deactivation.
The new Panamera GTS gets a detuned version of the Turbo’s engine thus putting out 453 horses. All the powertrains send power to either the rear wheels (RWD) or all four (AWD) via a PDK 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The entry-level products from manufacturers in this segment see different versions of the 3.0 L turbocharged V6 engine. So, the power outputs from these engines aren't too different on paper. The Beemer pulls off 320 hp from its Twin Power turbo V6 engine, Porsche does 330 hp, Audi betters it by 5 more hp at 335 hp and the Mercedes S Class beats them all with its 363 hp output.
The Panamera and Panamera 4 get a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 which puts out a decent 330 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. This is good enough to propel it from 0-60 mph in just under 5.4-second in the base rear-drive version and 5.2-seconds in the all-wheel-drive models. 8-speed dual-clutch transmission is standard throughout the lineup.
If you want to go bonkers then get your hands on the 4S with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 unit putting out 440 hp and 405 lb-ft that will bolt from 0-60 mph in 4.2-seconds or 4.3-seconds in the slightly heavier 4S Executive. The dual-clutch transmission and practically lag-free turbo motors combine to offer serious acceleration in Panamera models and few competitors will match the Panamera's all-around performance abilities.
The available Sport Chrono launch control option cuts the 0-60 mph acceleration time down by a further 0.2-seconds in either variant and consumption figures are very similar, you can expect city/highway consumption figures of 21/28 mpg on most models.

We can see that all the cars have almost similar 0-60 speeds. However, things start to get interesting in the quarter-mile segment where the BMW 7 Series outshines the other two i.e. the Merc and the Audi. TThe 7 Series manages to accelerate faster courtesy of its lower weight and ample power output but then also it falls one-tenth of a second short of the Porsche Panamera’s blistering quarter-mile time of 13.3 seconds.
On every model, even the long-wheelbase Sport Turismo turbo hybrids–the heftiest Porsche cars ever–ride and handling sparkle. The Panamera rides with wonderful compliance and perfect composure around town or at Bahn-breaking speed.
The Panamera also seats four people very comfortably, while the long-wheelbase Executive model adds 6 inches of rear legroom. Sport Turismo models offer a 4+1 package that replaces the rear console with a high and very narrow middle seat.
The new Panamera models are equipped with a brake system having 6-piston aluminum monobloc fixed brake calipers at the front and 4-piston equivalents at the rear. The brake discs are internally vented and slotted. This improves braking behavior even under extreme conditions, and heat is dissipated more effectively.
The one-piece brake calipers have an enclosed construction. This makes them lighter, yet highly resistant to deformation. Pedal travel is tight, the pressure point precise, the braking distance impressively short. Stopping from 60 mph requires only 101 feet, which is shorter than any rival's result. Under heavy braking, the car remains composed and controllable. The pedal is on the soft side but very trustworthy.

The Porsche Panamera has comparatively smaller size brakes but takes the least distance of 101 feet to stop. This is quite respectful because others manage to stop at longer distances even with the help of bigger brakes. For instance, the BMW 7-Series which gets the biggest brakes stops from 60 mph in 112 feet.
The EPA rated the base V-6 rear-wheel-drive Panamera at 21 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, 24 mpg combined. The Panamera 4 and long-wheelbase Executive is rated at 21/27/23 mpg, while the Panamera 4S and 4S Executive get 21/28/23 mpg. The Sport Turismo 4S scores 20/26/23 mpg. Turbo models rate 18/25/21 mpg, while the Turbo Sport Turismo gets 18/23/20 mpg.

Coming to the competition, all the rivals deliver almost similar mileage figures but the combined mileage figures do vary. This proves that modern luxury sedans have come a long way leaving behind their gas-guzzling days where one would require to visit the gas station frequently while out on a long trip.
The four-door Porsche boasts a driver-focused cabin that looks similar to the rest of the lineup and comes standard with plenty of goodies, including leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and eight-way power-adjustable front seats with heat and memory settings for the driver.Â
This being a Porsche, there are all manner of upgrades available (for a price), including sports seats with 18-way adjustability, ventilated seats, soft-close doors, four-zone automatic climate control, massaging seats, power rear sun blinds, and a fire extinguisher, among others.Â
The center console is busy with touch-sensitive controls for functions such as climate control. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation in the center of the dash controls the infotainment system. But getting used to these touch-sensitive controls can be a bit of a task. A host of driver-assistance features are available, including lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and even a night-vision system.

The 4-seater Panamera loses out to the others as they offer seating for 5 as standard while in the Porsche you get it as an option. As no data of interior space is available for Porsche we can’t compare it with the others. But if we go by our experience this Porsche won’t disappoint you in either the front or the rear but still, if you prefer being chauffeur-driven then the likes of Merc and BMW should be your choice here.
The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system features a dual-screen setup, but instead of two vertically mounted screens in the center stack, there's one touch screen for front-seat occupants and one for rear-seat passengers.
The touchscreens are slick to use with sharp graphics, but you have to use them for just about everything because there are few physical controls. That can be distracting if you need to adjust settings while on the move.

The 2019 Panamera seats four people in two rows. One thing you will notice as soon as you step inside that the cabin looks a little different from other Porsche vehicles; it's more modern and minimalistic, but it's nonetheless elegant, and materials quality is top-notch.
Overall all four seats are comfortable and supportive, and they provide an abundance of head- and legroom. You can further increase the space by opting for the Sport Turismo model (which has more headroom) or an Executive model (which expands legroom).

Every Panamera has a good amount of cargo space compared to other super-luxury cars, though the totals vary by body style. The base Panamera has 17.6 cubic feet of cargo space and up to 47.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
The wagon-like Sport Turismo model gets 18.3 cubic feet of cargo space and 49 cubic feet overall. The Executive body style extends the cargo space up to 52.6 cubic feet with the seats folded down. E-Hybrid models have 14.3 cubic feet of cargo space that extends up to 47.3 cubic feet with the rear seat folded down.

Porsche’s Panamera sports sedan for 2019 is immediately recognizable on the streets thanks to its unique body style. To give the Porsche a menacing look the hood and front fascia are squared up a bit. And the curved hatchback rear end is left untouched, but the rear fenders are wider, as is the car itself.
The 2019 Panamera is only about an inch longer than the first-gen car, but it looks bigger and more substantial. Familiar features like the LED headlights, the 4-position adaptive rear spoiler, etc are there. The Sport Turismo models have an elongated roof and wagon-like rear end that we think improves the overall look.
The 2019 Porsche Panamera measures 198.8 inches in length and stands 56.0 inches off the ground. The maximum width comes in at 85.2 inches including the mirrors, and the whole show rolls on a 116.1-inch wheelbase. While the Panamera has a curb weight of 4,001 lbs.

The Panamera is pretty much smaller than its rivals in terms of dimensions. Although the small dimension means less space on the inside but more agile and crisp handling. This sacrifice is happily accepted by the customer as no one buys a Porsche for space and practicality.
Exterior Features
Some of the exterior features of the 2019 Panamera include:
The 2019 Porsche Panamera has not undergone crash testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This is common for high-end exotic vehicles such as the Panamera but it doesn't make these beauties unsafe from any angle though. Porsche has equipped the Panamera generously starting from its base trim.
Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warnings and automatic emergency braking. Optional equipment includes active lane control, adaptive cruise control, and automatic parking assistance. Other hardware means the 2019 Panamera can stop and go with traffic and can change lanes when it's safe—all when it’s in cruise control.
There are two more high-tech safety features. Night Vision Assistant sees pedestrians and animals using a thermal imaging camera and alerts the driver. Porsche's InnoDrive combines adaptive cruise control, navigation data, and signals from radar and video sensors; it then takes over acceleration, deceleration, and gear changing for the next 1.8 miles, but requires an attentive driver at and on the wheel.
Standard advanced safety features:
Available advanced safety features:
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is an outstanding super luxury car, and the better choice between it and the Panamera comes down to how much you value performance.
The S-Class's engine lineup includes several powerful choices, but the Porsche is a bit more fun to drive. Both cars have opulent cabins, though the Mercedes has a vast array of lavish options, including heated and cooled rear cup holders, a 26-speaker Burmester 3D audio system, and a split-view front entertainment system.
The 2019 BMW 7 Series is a good car, but the Panamera is better. The BMW has more standard features, including full leather upholstery and quad-zone automatic climate control. Both have well-built interiors, though the Porsche has more cargo space. The Panamera also outstrips the 7 Series when it comes to performance
2019 Porsche Panamera Vs 2019 Audi A8 L
The 2019 Audi A8 L poses as a strong competitor to the Porsche Panamera however the latter looks more sporty while the former looks more classy yet stylish with subtle designing details. The A8 L also comes with more legroom and comfort features for the rear passengers but lacks seriously in the overall cargo capacity. Performance-wise, the A8 L is also slightly superior than the Panamera but the latter has better driving dynamics and performance-focused settings as well.
With the Panamera, Porsche has proven that the full-size luxury sedans need not be chauffeur-driven only. Even in this segment, some buyers prefer to take matters into their own hands and Panamera is all that they need. Porsche has tried to deliver in the Panamera a supremely engineered car with breathtaking performance, composed handling, and enough comfort and space to enjoy the experience.
The choice is simple and easy since, with Porsche cars you can never go wrong, this has been proven time and again. So, if you are in the market looking for a luxury sedan that offers a sporty aspect in terms of performance as well, do take a look at the Panamera and it should steal your heart with its elegant yet powerful looks.
