The V90 carries a signature Scandinavian design. It doesn’t brag to be a “performance crossover”. The V90 wagon competes against the likes of Audi Allroad, Mercedes Benz E450 and Subaru Outback.
The Volvo V90 is sensible like a wagon and it rides like an SUV. The swedish manufacturer seems to have added swedish delicacy and style to the V90 Wagon that offers class leading practicality and best in class safety. The Sensible design of the Volvo V90 also has sporty elements to it. The 2019 Volvo V90 makes a few changes to its instrument lists that is detailed below. Buy a 2019 Volvo V90 for less than $40,000.
It is offered in two engine and drive options which consists of a standard 250 hp 2.0L turbo engine with a front wheel drive and an eight speed automatic transmission. If you are thirsty for more power you can have the 316 hp 2.0L Supercharged engine with an all-wheel drive facility. It rivals the Audi Allroad, the BMW X5, the Mercedes Benz E450, and the Volvo V60 as well.
2019 Volvo V90 is offered in 4 trim levels. Even the base R-Design model is equipped with the quintessential luxury materials. The higher spec Inscription brings in goodies that are meant to spoil you with comfort and convenience. AWD is available in both these trims, when equipped with the AWD system, the V90 wagon is tuned to produce 316 hp (66 hp more).

We Recommend
If you are going to use the V90 wagon in town, stick to the FWD models. The T5 Inscription trim comes loaded with all the features that you would appreciate in a luxury wagon of this class. For folks who need to drive in snow a lot, we would suggest the AWD models for better traction.
The Volvo V90 comes with two engine options T5 and T6. The T5 trims are offered in FWD configuration. The V90, when in T5 guise, produces 250-hp from its turbocharged 2.0-liter and comes mated to a standard 8-speed automatic transmission. In the T6 guise, AWD is standard and the engine is twin charged (turbocharged and supercharged) to produce 316 hp.
Under the long hood, the V90's 2.0-liter maintains very hushed manners. This inline-four engine isn't designed to offer a rewarding driving experience but offer something more refinement throughout the engine's power band. The engine boasts off compact packaging and a lower center of gravity.
For those of you, not satisfied with the T5 engine's output. A big wagon like V90 feels more at home with the supercharged engine that produces 316 hp. The additional power makes merging and passing easier than before.

In comparison to the V90 R-Design competitors, the V90 has a decent power output. The Mercedes-Benz steals the show with a vigorous 3.0 L V6 engine that produces a whopping 362hp. But, comparing the Inscription model with 315 hp, the V90 seems to be in the competition, leaving out the Audi A4 All road Premium and the Subaru Outback behind.
Let's face it, the Volvo V90 was never meant to burn rear tires and smash the quarter mile time that your neighbor with muscle car posted at the dragstrip. The V90's engine has enough steam to take care of your daily driving requirements. Should you require more pony power, then the T6 version is your key to a slightly faster Volvo.
Be prepared for some sloppy work from the 8-speed automatic. It doesn't like to be stressed. As long you want to cruise comfortably, the V90 will comply with all your wishes. And if you are in the habit of mashing the pedal to the metal then your money would be better spent with the Mercedes E Class wagon.

The new V90 is the longest car in this segment. Considering that it just moves right around the corners. The all-wheel drive trim keeps the car planted on the road. The steering is nimble and you can feel a decent amount of feedback from the road. Its numbers are impressive! With 0.92 g of grip, the V90 can take on a sports sedan round the corners.
The V90 performs well on all terrains and feels quite at home. With the optional air suspensions for the rear wheels, you make the ride more comfortable for venerable roads outside the city.
The V90 is not beating the Mercedes-Benz E400 4Matic anytime soon, with a bigger engine and bigger in every aspect, the Mercedes-Benz E400 4Matic has an upper hand on the spec list. But, the Volvo V90 beats the Audi and Subaru easily.
The braking data for 2019 Volvo V90 is currently unavailable. The V90 wagon offers moderate braking performance for this segment. The T6 trims are equipped with standard AWD for better traction at any driving scenario. The skid pad shows good promise with the V90, the figures actually make it rival many sports sedan

The Volvo V90 R-design is one of the better looking wagons out there. It also offers most smiles per gallon. Mileage rating at 24 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway, there is no beating the 2018 Volvo V90. A car of such size and power, it is incredible to see such figures.
The closest competitor is Audi A4 All road Premium with 22 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the Highway. The Subaru and Mercedes-Benz fall behind because of the big engine and higher capacity of 3.0 L.

And when we compare it to the other wagons, it easy to find that turbocharged engines are more frugal. Volkswagen Golf SportWagen scores a combined mpg of 30 while bettering Audi Allroad's score by a margin of 2 mpg. The Subaru Outback and Volvo V60 offer an identical combined mpg of 28.
The Volvo V90 comes with the best in class interior quality. The Elegant looking interior with modern tech and Scandinavian design makes it the best place to be in. The natural wood in combination with metal pieces will make you feel rich and your eyes sparkle.
The seats are the most comfortable ones you'll find on any car. The long wheelbase gives the rear passengers ample amount of room to spread their legs. The optional features like heated and ventilated seats with massaging front seats will add up to your comfort level.

All the buttons, including the climate controls and the volume button, have been integrated in the Sensus Connect Infotainment display. This can lead one to distracted driving and with layers of menus to browse through and too many clicks to do simple operations, it may get annoying sometimes.

Volvo has been on the forefront of safety campaigns globally. The V90 is no stranger when it comes to world class safety features.
There is little that is wrong with the Outback. For decades, the Outback has been a hot seller in the Subaru line-up. Our only gripe is the lackluster acceleration from the base 2.5-liter engine.
With a full load of cargo and passengers, this engine runs out of steam. So, you have to carefully plan for merging and passing. But talk about utility, fit and finish and drivability. The Outback comes off as a strong contender in the segment. It offers a spacious and comfortable cabin with a solid finish.
It has become a known fact that Audi produces some of the best driver-oriented cars and the same goes for the 2019 Audi A4 Allroad. The car commands a premium price when compared to its competition.
For that premium price tag ($37,400) it offers better performance than the other wagons in the segment. The A4 Allroad combines a powerful engine, a world-class driving dynamics, and a solid fit and finish. If you like to be behind the wheel then the price premium might be worth your time.
The E Class wagon features an improved engine which makes 33 horsepower more than the earlier model. The engine isn't eager to pick up pace but it is remarkably quiet. Mercedes intends the E Class to be comfortable before being anything else.
The cabin is well insulated, once inside it really feels like you have been separated from the outside world. The premium convertible starts at a price tag of $64,200. The E Class wagon offers best in class engine specifications, sculpted looks, interior fitment, space and a high tech arsenal of safety features. When it comes to pricing, though it is costly.
The Volvo V90 is the best-looking wagon out there, with the best looking interior design and many premium features as standard. It's hard to match the quality stated by Volvo. Starting at a bit higher price, which is justified with the strong exterior design and rich cabin space, the Volvo V90 is a unique car and is desired by everyone.
However, if you are looking for more utility than looks and at a cheaper price, there are options such as Subaru Outback to consider.
