With a Twin-Scroll Turbocharger underneath the hood of the 2020 Audi SQ5, Audi has definitely raised the heat in the performance compact SUV segment. The Motor feels rev-happy and easily revs past the 2500rpm. Audi's famed TFSI tech allows for lower turbo lags and better power delivery down the rev range. On the other hand, the tried and tested Quattro AWD system ensures that the power generated from the Motor is properly orchestrated to all the 4 wheels depending on the situation and the demand.
The 8-speed automatic transmission is smooth and swift in terms of shifting which delivers a great driving experience. The DSG unit is one of the Fastest shifters in the segment and has been tuned for even quicker responses in the SQ5. In terms of numbers, the Merc is the clear winner here and offers the most power and torque in this comparison. The Macan loses out to the Audi by just 1hp but isn't the slowest in responsiveness.

*2019 Model Year figures used for comparison purposes only
There is not much difference when you compare the Audi to its rivals in terms of their power and torque figures. Just for the sake of stats, it's the GLC 43, that takes top honors in the power and torque department. The Bimmer follows the Merc in this respect and is marginally shy of the Merc's figures. Following this suite is the Audi and the Porsche respectively.
The acceleration figures of the SQ5 may depict the SUV to be a slow one when compared to its rivals. That isn't completely false either, as the Audi is slower than most of its rivals. However, out in the real world, things are a bit different.
The Audi feels quick to respond to throttle inputs and overtaking most cars in the cities and on the motorways, is a piece of cake. The 8 Speed Tiptronic unit, adds to the joy of driving this Audi on any terrain that you take it to.

The BMW X3 M40i has the best acceleration of the lot and takes just 4.6 seconds to reach the 60mph mark. The quarter-mile drag is completed in 13.4 seconds at 102mph. The second in line is the AMG and falls short of the Bimmer by the smallest of margins. The Porsche ties the Audi on the 0-60 front but loses out in the quarter-mile run.
The ride experience of the SQ5 feels power-packed and agile and it manages to achieve this while maintaining high comfort levels, thanks to the air suspension system. The SUV has good body control and comes with a superb grip over the road. However, the steering might feel slightly less responsive in the corners but as the speeds go up, it manages to weigh up very well. Riding over uneven and bumpy surfaces won't be much of an issue either due to the marvelous ground clearance (8.2inches) of the SQ5 which is the largest in its class.
You can opt for the optional adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning to ease up the driving. The car offers 6 driving modes: Auto, Dynamic, Comfort, Individual, All road and Lift/Off-road. These numerous variations give the rider a lot of options to choose their most suitable adjustments as per their needs. Body roll is well contained for the most part and it's when you take the corners too hard when you feel the roll to be quite evident. Straight-line high-speed stability is top-notch and the SUV will want you to keep it pushing through its paces. without hampering your confidence.
The 2020 Audi SQ5 brakes as quickly as it gathers pace. Courtesy of big brake rotors and a well-tuned ABS and ESC program, the SQ5 comes to a dead halt in no time. The SQ5 shows very little loss of braking performance under heavy application and offers superb feedback at all times.
What is furthermore impressive is the fact there is little nose dive or loss of grip while braking and the ESC, makes the SUV's tail and body maintain a linear path rather than leaving a wobbly trail of burnt rubber.

Speaking of the competition, the rivals aren't any slouch either. All the SUVs in this comparison are separated by each other by just 1ft of distance and that showcases the amount of importance, given to braking performance.
Despite being a performance SUV, the 2020 Audi SQ5, manages to tow 4400lbs. This is commendable as this weight is more than its own curb weight. However, all of Audi's rivals other than the Merc can tow the same weight while the Merc can just tow 3500lbs.

The 2020 Audi SQ5, scores high on the performance front and also manages to put up a decent performance as far as efficiency goes. With an overall MPG figure of 21 MPG, Audi has ensured that you don't have to worry a lot about the Gas expenses of the Audi SQ5. Combine the MPG figures with a massive 18.5-gallon fuel tank and you can easily manage to traverse a distance of at least 350 miles.

When compared to its rivals, the SQ5 manages to miss out on the top spot to the impressively efficient BMW X3 M40i. The AMG GLC 43, matches the Audi's MPG figures and it's the Porsche that misses out in this respect. The Porsche, courtesy of its 19.8-gallon fuel tank, manages to rake in a similar range as the Bimmer and the Audi.
Despite its sporty credentials, Audi has managed to offer a comfortable experience to the occupants of the Audi SQ5. The SQ5 allows seating for 5 people with the seats being contoured in high-grade Leather. The leather seats are well contoured and provide good support for comfortable long drives. The driver and the front-seat passenger can get the precise seating position as per their requirements using the 12-way power-adjustable front sport seats. The interior also has 4-way power-adjustable lumbar support for the front row. There is ample room for legs, knew and head. The front row is very spacious, so, getting in and out of the car is really easy. The rear row might get a bit congested but overall, Audi has plush and comfortable looking interiors.
The upholstery of the cabin is also finished in Leather and that gives a sense of luxury and premium feel when contacting the same surface. The seats offer good levels of cushioning and support and offer enough bolstering to keep you in place, for when you put the Audi through its paces.

Comparing the Audi with its rivals and you will notice that the Audi holds a clear lead in terms of the space it offers. The Bimmer manages to come close to the Audi but falls short by the smallest of margins. The GLC is the least impressive of them all when it comes to space on offer on the inside. However, the Merc manages to rake in some points owing to its superb comfort on offer from those seats.
As with all Audi Cars, the Infotainment system of the SQ5 comes loaded with features and doesn't skip on the same, despite its performance focus build. The MMI infotainment system ranks as one of the best in the industry owing to its ease of use and features bundled in it.
Some of the highlights of the SQ5's infotainment system include the following
Like the Infotainment System, the Interiors of the 2020 SQ5 comes loaded with a plethora of features in it to keep you engaged for the time you spend inside the SQ5. All the switches, buttons and handles for operating the various controls in the SUV have been thoughtfully placed and will fall into the hands of the occupants, quite easily.
While the Cargo Capacity of the 2020 Audi SQ5 may not be the best in the class, it certainly isn't the worst. The SQ5 offers a generous 25.1 cubic feet of space and can further liberate more space, courtesy of the flat-folding rear seats.
There are plenty of small cargo hooks on offer for hanging those small packages while the Cargo area lamp illuminates the same when the lighting isn't adequate or dark. Cubby holes have been placed generously in the cabin and you won't find a lack of storage space in the SQ5.

The BMW X3 M40i manages to offer the most cargo space in this comparison, followed by the Audi SQ5. The Merc and the Porsche offer the same space in terms of the cargo capacity and both fall behind the Audi and the Bimmer respectively.
Indeed, it does. Despite being dominantly sporty on the outside, the SQ5 manages to carry forward some of the elements from the standard Q5. The platinum gray single-frame grille with the Audi logo placed in between gives the front an elegant look. The beautiful wavy shoulder-line flows from hood to tail. The 20-inch double-spoke star alloys add to the classy appearance of this luxurious SUV.
The Sleek looking LED Headlights, add to the appeal of the SUV while the sharp lines running across the Body of the SQ5 gives it a sporty look.

Neither the longest nor the widest but the SQ5 has the largest ground clearance of 8.2 inches. That gives it, an unprecedented advantage over its rivals and allows for the maximum peace of mind while going off-road or water wading. The wheelbase of the car lies in the middle with a length of 111.2 inches. In contrast, Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 43 4Matic has the smallest ground clearance and the longest wheelbase.
Like all other Audi's present in the market today, the 2020 SQ5, comes with a never-ending list of features on the outside. The SQ5, adds to the features found on the top of the line Q5 and builds on the same by adding some performance extras.
Audi doesn't skip on the safety of its car and the 2020 SQ5 is no exception. The 2020 Audi Q5 packs in a lot of safety features as standard and Audi takes it a step forward with the advanced driver aids on offer.
It's very difficult to choose a clear victor between the Audi and the BMW. Both have similar pricing, offer nearly the same levels of tech on-board and have impeccable build as well. However, on closer inspection, you will realise that the BMW is a slightly more fun SUV to drive than the Audi but isn't as comfortable as the same.
The Bimmer demands a premium for it's fantastic dynamics but isn't as comfortable to drive as the Audi as well. Looking at things, if driving is your passion, the Bimmer is what you should get but if you want practicality with your Sports SUV, the Audi will suit your bill the best.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 ranks as one of the most dynamically potent and fun to drive Compact SUV's in its segment. You get a lot of punch while driving this Merc and the sharp handling abilites, adds to the drama of driving this SUV.
The Suspension is well tuned as well and adjusts itself according to the road surface. The Audi, on the other hand, can't exactly match the handling dynakics of the Merc but is as practical as the same. The Audi is 6 grand cheaper than the Merc as well and hence, manages to tilt things in its favor in the end.
While Porsche is known for making some of the sportiest cars in the market, the Macan S, doesn't match those standards . The Macan however, gathers pace much quickly than the Audi but falters in the braking department. Also, the Macan costs a fortune more than the SQ5.
In terms of equipment, the Audi offers a lot of standard tech and doesn't cahrge a hefty premium for the same. So, taking all things into account, unless you want the Porsche badge in front of your hood, it's better you stay content with the Audi and enjoy it, to the fullest.
After garnering a positive response from Customers, after it's launch in 2019, the 2020 Audi SQ5 manages to reciprocate the same, albeit with some more kit. With a plethora of driver assistance features, creature comforts, superbly built interiors, luxury laden cabin, powerful motor and superb handling, the SQ5 ticks a lot of boxes in the minds of the prospective buyers. Sure, there are other SUVs that can manage to beat the Audi on some of the parameters but if you want an All-Rounder that can "Do it All", you surely won't go wrong with the 2020 Audi SQ5.
