Sadly, the 2020 Audi TT Coupe, is available in just a single trim. However, Audi is offering 3 packages with it. The 3 packages- S Sport Seat, S Line Competition, Technology, come with their own separate features set that can be added to the TT, as per the requirements of the customer.

Trim to choose?

The 2020 Audi TT Coupe, is available in just 1 trim. However, if you just pay $2,200 more, you can spec your TT with the S Line Competition package that adds some superb features like Virtual Cockpit, 20” Alloys and make your daily ride, a bit more informative and connected.

The 2020 Audi TT coupe stays mechanically unchanged from 2019. This means that you still get a turbocharged 2.0L inline-4 Motor, good for 220 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque. Transmission duties are performed by a 7-speed dual-clutch S Tronic with paddle shifters. The Transmission is slick-shifting, changes gears when you want it to and allows full manual control as well.

The Engine itself, may not be the most powerful unit here but the lightweight of the Audi and the Quattro AWD system, makes the TT a surprisingly cheerful car to drive. There is enough grunt on offer at all instances and the lightweight body of this coupe, adds to the fun of driving this coupe.

Comparing the TT to its rivals, you will find that the TT is the least powerful among all. The C-300 takes top honors as far as numbers go. The Bimmer and the Lexus are locked at a dead heat, in terms of torque figures but the BMW takes lead in the power figure over the Lexus by the smallest of margins. 

How good is the acceleration of the TT Coupe?

Despite the power deficiency, the Audi TT takes just 5.2 seconds to reach the 60MPH and 13.6 Seconds to do the quarter-mile. Audi credits this to the TT’s low curb weight and the superb Quattro AWD setup that allows super-fast takeoff’s from a dead stop in no time at all.

The signature performance is also reflected in the impressive wheel-turning power i.e. the Torque figures that are rated at 258 lb-ft. @ 1750rpm. The Audi TT. can reach a top speed of 130MPH as well.

Surprisingly enough, when you compare Audi’s acceleration figures with its other rivals, you will see that the Audi, triumphs ahead of the others by quite some margin, despite the lesser power figures. The competitors, lag behind the Audi, owing to their heft and their RWD systems that reduce the amount of traction, available at the beginning as compared to an AWD setup.

How well does the Audi TT ride and handle?

One of the main reasons, why a person buys a Coupe like the Audi TT, is because of it’s handling dynamics. The 2020 TT, doesn’t lose any of its famed handling characters or any of that persona. Audi has used all their expertise of racing throughout these years, in developing and fine-tuning their Quattro system and that is evident in the TT as well. The Grip and Traction levels on offer in the Audi are super impressive and the precise steering and lightweight body, adds to the fun of cornering this little coupe. The Body roll is very well contained and you won’t have any problems, swerving through traffic out on the motorway.

Talking of the Ride Quality, it’s mostly on the softer side and despite its sporty credentials, the TT will easily glide over most potholes and undulations with the utmost ease. For customers, who would want a bit more sporty ride from their Audi, can spec the same with the S Line Competition package that stiffens the suspension and adds sportier wheels and some other tweaks to make the ride, even more, fun.

What about the Braking performance of the TT Coupe?

With the largest ever brakes ever used on a TT, the braking performance of this coupe is just exemplary in a lot of ways. Weighing just 3200 lbs, the Audi works like a charm not only on the tracks but also on the city streets. The brake pedal is extremely precise and direct, much like the steering as well.

There is good heat dissipation from the brakes and the brakes cool down quite quickly, irrespective of how long you have been using them. Brakes don't fade that easily and you have a lot of feedback on offer at all times.

The braking performance of all the coupes listed here can be termed decent in overall respect. While the Merc and the Bimmer, showcase brilliant stopping figures when stopping from 70MPH, the Lexus isn’t far behind either. The Audi TT, may not be the most powerful coupe on the block. However, if you ponder on the table below, you will understand the benefits of the same. With an impressive 26MPG of mileage overall and a 14.5-gallon tank, the 2020 Audi TT Coupe, can do at least 334 miles on a full tank and 450 miles at best. This is impressive, considering that the Audi has a standard AWD setup while the others have an RWD setup.

The Seats offer decent levels of cushioning and contouring and the cabin quality feels upmarket. However, sit on the rear seats and you will feel claustrophobic, in no time at all. Hence, despite being a 4 seater, we expect you to make your foes occupy the rear seats or your kids. 

With premium materials on most of the console, you can ignore the plastic bits that litter the cabin. Build Quality is something that needs a mention here as it’s top-notch, with very little inconsistencies or panel gaps throughout the cabin.

Comparing the Audi with its rivals and you will find that the German counterparts of the Audi, offer a lot more space on both the front row and on the rear as well. That is because of the larger dimensions of those cars and the relatively smaller ones of the Audi. The Lexus is bigger on space than the Audi but eventually, loses out to the other German duo.

How good is the infotainment system?

The infotainment system on use in the 2020 TT is not just good but ranks as one of the best in the segment. Audi has been constantly updating it’s MMI Infotainment system every year and for 2020, Audi has made improvements to the same as well. You get a slightly more responsive and intuitive system and with all the bells and whistles, that you would want from a Car of this category. You can also get the MMI Plus system and Android Auto, Apple Car Play by upgrading to the Technology package.

What about the Cargo space on offer?

With its relatively compact proportions, it’s no surprise that the 2020 Audi TT, packs in a low cargo area. In the interiors as well, we miss the cubby holes and storage spaces that can be found in other coupes of this segment.

However, with features like 50/50 split-folding rear seats and under-seat storage, you do get a decent amount of space that will be enough for your daily errands or shopping.

While all the rivals of the TT coupe are on the same page, when it comes to the storage capacity, it’s the BMW that shines the brightest here. The Bimmer stands atop all of its adversaries in the cargo area department, followed by the Audi and the Merc and Lexus respectively.
