Overall Rating
When it comes to performance, design, and innovation the 2020 CT6 offers you a single most important thing: value. The powertrain and technology are beautifully mated with unique interior and exterior. The option of V6 and V8 are insanely powerful and catches attention from far. The loaded features in the three trim levels are worth the price you pay.
The Cadillac has introduced the CT6 of 2020 maybe for the last time with just two engine options and three trim levels. This makes buying a Cadillac CT6 much easier with an option of the 3.6-liter V6 or turbocharged 4.2-liter V8. The All-wheel-drive is standard with both. Also, CT6 doesn’t offer any major option packages either. The availability of features directly correlates to the trim level you pick with the base-priced at $59,990.
For all the features packaged in the top trim, the phenomenal comfort, and convenience on offer, Cadillac CT6 Platinum is hard to resist. The mighty V8 engine pumping 500 hp is beyond comparison for the large-luxury sedan. It might seem heavier on the pocket, CT6 Platinum is the justified pick.

For 2020, The Cadillac CT6 comes in three trims and two engine options. The nomenclature Cadillac uses for its base trim as Luxury is quite admirable. The CT6 Luxury and Premium Luxury is placed with the 3.6L V6 engine whereas the top-trim Platinum hides a more powerful 4.2L V8 engine under the hood. The 10-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive is standard on all. The CT6 Luxury is equipped with a few standard features when compared with the other two trims.
In the large-luxury sedan family, the CT6 for 2020 might be its last generation as the market is shifting towards the crossovers and so is Cadillac’s strategy. The Cadillac has enhanced the standard features on its three trims, so is the pricing. The pricing for the base and the top trim seem to be two different stories altogether. Unfortunately, the CT6 lacks the optional customization and you will have to pick a model for the features it is built with.

The Cadillac’s Super Cruise driver assistance feature is a class apart, standard on CT6 Premium Luxury. It enables a hands-free driver assistance feature for compatible highways, taking over the steering and braking. It can even execute lane changes. Also, the Premium Luxury trim is equipped with an exclusive Bose Panaray 34-speaker audio system. The 34 speakers are strategically positioned throughout the cabin to ensure each passenger is provided with concert hall sound.
What do we recommend?
For all the features packaged in the top trim, the phenomenal comfort, and convenience on offer, Cadillac CT6 Platinum is hard to resist. The mighty V8 engine pumping 500 hp is beyond comparison for the large-luxury sedan. It might seem heavier on the pocket, CT6 Platinum is the justified pick.
For 2020, the Cadillac has done away with the 2.0L and 3.0L turbo-charged engine for good. Now, the CT6 has reduced the engine options to two. The base and the middle trim is available with a naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 pumping 335 hp and 285 pound-feet torque. The top trim is placed with a more powerful 4.2L Blackwing V8 Twin Turbo engine putting out 500 hp and 574 pound-feet of torque which is more potent.
Carrying forward from the previous generation, the 10-speed automatic transmission is standard on all trims. The automatic transmission has paddle shifters on the steering wheel and a Manual mode that allows you to shift gears similar to a manual transmission. Automatic shifting returns after no manual shifts have been done for 7-10 seconds.

In comparison to the likes of BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, and Mercedes Benz E class, 2020 CT6 is born with more power. The V6 won’t drive you into your seat while stomping on the accelerator but it suffices the purpose considering the low curb weight and excellent chassis tuning. This may be fulfilled by the V8 variant but that needs some serious financial means.
The CT6 of 2020 has made sure that it comes closer to its inspirer i.e. CTS. The naturally-aspirated V6 CT6 is adequately powered and throttles smoothly. The mightier V8 is a more potent option. The 10-speed automatic transmission which is standard is quite smooth and shifts rather quickly in any condition. At times the transmission loses the way. It does not utilize the midrange torque completely and shifts quickly to the highest gear.
The acceleration for the CT6 with its V8 variant drops below the four-second mark which is good for a large luxury sedan.

The CT6 has made an all-wheel-drive standard which is a welcome move. The all-wheel-drive enables better acceleration than a rear-wheel drive. The CT6 with the newer engine options and moderately calibrated transmission is surely the king of the road in comparison to its rival, beating them with better 0-60 miles time.
The CT6 flagship character i.e.“king-of-road” is surely fulfilled with a powerful engine, quick transmission, and reliable brakes. The overall ride quality is composed and comfortable. Also, the CT6 absorbs most of the potholes and shocks with ease. For this class, the noise penetration inside the cabin isn’t pleasing. The body roll is held back within reasonable bounds.
The steering may be the weak spot as it feels disconnected. The standard AWD with four-wheel steering is a welcome initiative and adds to better handling. The CT6 is a highway cruiser and is meant for long road-trips. In the city limits, the length and weight irk the driving experience and feel heavy.
The CT6 uses the Magnetic ride control which automatically adjusts the suspension to road quality, and it reads the road up to 1000 times a second to react accordingly. Also, the excellent chassis tuning supplements the composure and stability in the ride. The Cadillac CT6 moves closer to having a fighting chance in the segment and accomplishes a spirited driving when compared with its rivals.
The bright spot for Cadillac CT6 is its braking performance. Considering the hefty weight and length, It almost starts and stops immediately. The CT6 is equipped with four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.
For the Platinum model, the braking duties are handled by the large Brembo stoppers with four-pot calipers up front and two-piston grabbers at the rear. Also, the 20-inch wheel with a stickier all-season tire adds to the grip whether accelerating, cornering or braking.

The standard front pedestrian braking works at speeds below 50 MPH. It can alert you when a collision is detected to be imminent with a pedestrian directly ahead. It can also help reduce the collision's severity or avoid the collision by automatically applying hard, emergency braking if you have not already, or by enhancing driver hard braking.
The naturally-aspirated V6 is EPA rated at 18/27/21 (Cty/Hwy/Comb.) which isn’t the best in the class. The Platinum flaunting V8 further trails much lower in terms of fuel efficiency.

The Cadillac though features one of the biggest fuel tanks and highest range whether in the city or on the highway. Surely, Cadillac manages to suffice the utility with the ability to cruise long distances without worries of finding the gas station every now and then thereby saving time spent on gas refilling.
The Cadillac CT6’s interior space and roominess is its USP. It can seat five on the standard leather upholstery. This large luxury sedan offers outstanding cabin space which can accommodate all adults with ease. The rear row is the cherry on the cake. It offers ample legroom for an adult to stretch. The CT6 also offers to recline and massaging rear seats adding to the comfort. Though the seats in front lack lateral support on a long overhaul still it is quite decisive and comfortable.
The Platinum CT6 features exceptional 20-way power driver and front passenger seats which have lumbar support, massaging feature along with leather-wrapped automatic heated steering wheel.

The 12-inch color gauge cluster which combines with the standard 10.2-inch CUE touch-screen infotainment system gives the CT6 a modern look. All usual luxury elements can be found inside the cabin but interior design is quite vague when compared with its luxurious rivals.
The American flagship Cadillac CT6 has a strong appetite for technology. The overall luxurious ride is complemented by easy-to-use technology and features equipped in the CT6. The standard infotainment features in the 2020 CT6 includes a 10.2-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system, satellite radio, wireless device charging, a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
The Cadillac User Experience infotainment system is graciously straightforward and intuitive. It has large on-screen buttons and quick response times. Though the menu structure’s complexity to use is an issue. It requires you to look away from the road.
The German and Japanese rivals are a bit ahead when it comes to the ease-of-use and phenomenal infotainment systems. Also, the trend for vertically-oriented display is picking up the pace, the Cadillac is still far from it.
The shorter trunk of the 2020 CT6 clearly signifies it is a stretched version of CTS which was a mid-size sedan. The wide trunk opening makes way for storing larger items with ease but the volume is below average.

The Cadilac has its own design language. The CT6 is one of the best the automaker has produced. The CT6 has its own presence defined by the unique lines and shapes which also disguise its 205.8-inch length. The Bright accent grille with Galvano surrounds Blends seamlessly into the front-end design. It is handsome to be featured in the Ray Donovan tough-guy TV series and a Bruno Mars video (Magic), plus a couple of other appearances.
The design of CT6 with a longer wheelbase accompanies a stable and comfortable ride, especially at higher speeds. Further. It adds to the storage space and roominess in the cabin.

The different trim levels are identified by the details such as illuminated door handles, cornering lights along with the varying sizes and design of alloy wheels. The Cadillac has floated an Exterior Accent Package which offers 20" Midnight Silver alloy wheels and a rear spoiler adding a sporty and athletic look.
The U.S. safety agencies haven’t tested the Cadillac CT6 for 2020 yet, so we will have to wait for the official ratings. Ample of safety features along with driver-assist technologies are standard on the Cadillac CT6 including Distance Indicator, Forward/Reverse Automatic Braking which mitigates low-speed impacts by warning the driver and even applying the brakes during low-speed maneuvers.
Also, the Automatic Safety Belt Tightening keeps you secure in the vehicle by tightening the belts automatically during emergency braking or sudden maneuvers.
The BMW 5 Series is a mid-size sedan but it compares well with the CT6. The 2020 CT6 clearly is an edge over the BMW in terms of power but the latter showcases better ride and comfort. Also in terms of overall luxury, the BMW is superior as the CT6 focus just on the interior room rather than on better placement. Also, the BMW offers a bigger trunk adding to the utility. Clearly, the BMW 5 Series will be the first pick.
Audi A6 again is a mid-size segment but falls in a similar price range of the luxury segment. The Audi runs on a less powerful powertrain and clearly is not the swiftest. The heavier Audi isn’t the best choice for people looking for the room and space but outclasses the CT6 with the comfort and ride quality. CT6 also surpasses the A6 in terms of better cargo capacity. Here the Cadillac will be the right choice.
Thanks to the much higher torque, the power-house of the Cadillac CT6 does a much better job of transmitting power to the wheels than the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The Cadillac CT6 has a smaller turning radius than the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, allowing you to more easily maneuver in and out of tight spots. The Cadillac is far more spacious than the E class as well.
The Cadillac has been unpredictable with its launch of the CT6 for the 2020 model placed with just two engine options under three trims. It has done away with the traditional 2.0L and 3.0L turbo for which people are still mourning. The automaker has equipped the 2020 CT6 substantially. It seems that Cadillac may bid adieu to the CT6 which has been an American marque. The CT6 is powerful, comfortable and luxurious with technology at its disposal. Surely, it is the best CT6 ever.
