The Cadillac’s first V-series model of its top range sedan, the CT6-V incorporates high-end performance under a rejuvenated and modern design. The four-door luxury sedan adds performance to its nomenclature. With the Blackwing, the CT6-V is ready to fly with luxurious comfort. Starting at a price of $94,895, the CT6-V is cheaper than most of its German counterparts.
The luxury flagship sedan is an exhibition of automakers’ capabilities. The 2020 Cadillac CT6-V is a performance focussed example. The standard CT6 is available with either 237-hp four-cylinder or a 335 hp V6, the CT6-V is privileged to get a twin-turbo V8 Blackwing engine that produces scintillating 550 hp.
Apart from the engine upgrade, the CT6-V ups the ante with the superlative performance equipment such as adaptive dampers, bigger Brembo brakes, and sticky summer tires. For extra stability, it features rear-wheel steering as well. However, the CT6-V misses out on Cadillac’s most enticing features i.e. Super Cruise automated driving system. Also, CT6-v features pretty much everything standard on the other CT6 models.

What do we recommend?
The 2020 Cadillac CT6-V is a single trim option that comes fully loaded. The only thing you can choose is the color and type of wheels.
The Cadillac CT6-V comes with a mighty 550 hp twin-turbo V8 engine mated with 10-speed automatic transmission and a dynamically adjustable all-wheel-drive system. The handcrafted Blackwing is the powerful, smooth and responsive engine that makes this friendly luxury sedan massively capable when called upon.
The auto transmission doesn’t let CT6-V spend much time on a single gear and all that quick shifting interrupts the drama of the engine gaining speed. The CT6-V tops speed is capped at 149 mph. Keep the right foot planted to see the face-pulling charge of CT6-V.

However, a bit of turbo lag is encountered which delays the power delivery. Despite twin-turbos muffling the exhaust, the Blackwing delivers on the V8 shout which is pleasing. In the list, the CT6-V is the most powerful and cheapest as well.
The 2020 CT6-V charges to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds, which is quick. Despite such results, the CT6-V does not feel aggressively quick in comparison to the German counterparts. The torque peaks quite late, limiting the instant flush of energy. Also, The tight gear ratios enable quick-shifting but at times the 10-speed automatic seems to be just shifting, killing the fun and also restricting the engine while gaining speed.

The all-wheel-drive offers high face-pulling capabilities as you push for more throttle response. The friendly luxury sedan switches to a street ripper in no time but it is not a natural drifter.
The Cadillac CT6-V offers sharp steering, peerless body control, and firm suspension to attract the performance enthusiasts. The presence of the exclusive sports equipment lets it achieve the milestone. The adaptive dampers and rear torque differential allow the luxury sedan to exit the corners without any understeer. Further, the active rear steering adds extra control.
The CT6 is generally considered a limo counterpart, that more because of the riding comfort and room it offers. The adaptive suspension is more than capable to absorb every bump and remains stable and composed throughout. Also, Cadillac’s noise-cancellation wizardry keeps the ride insulated from winding noise.
The 2020 CT6-V all-wheel-drive features Brembo front brakes with eBoost electronic assist and a limited-slip rear differential. Replacing the CTS-V, this lighter Caddy betters the record with a stopping distance of 155 mph from 70 mph. The braking duties are handled by the large Brembo stoppers with four-pot calipers up front and two-piston grabbers holding the rear discs. Also, the 20-inch wheel with a stickier all-season tire adds to the grip whether accelerating, cornering or braking.

The standard performance brake sare capable and strong. Modulation is easy at high and low speeds. ABS and EBD come standard to maintain your line under heavy braking and keep the steering alive for drivers to maneuver.
The 550 hp Blackwing V8 is a gas-guzzler with EPA rating suffering a blow in comparison to toned down CT6 models. The V-6 powered 2020 CT6 earns 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The twin-turbocharged burners also feature an Active fuel management system that controls the cylinders depending on the load to keep things efficient.

To be frank the luxury performance sedan segment may never offer you a reasonable fuel economy to keep your money in the pockets intact. However, the German counterparts exhibit slightly better efficiency. BMW 7 series and Mercedes S class tops the list with 17 mpg in the city while the S Class offers 27 mpg on the highway.
The V-series delivers the luxury with the exhilarating performance. The exclusive carbon-fiber trim lets you experience the pinnacle of style and performance. In terms of space and comfort, Cadillac scores extremely well. From the performance gauge cluster to cutting-edge technology, CT6-V is ready to entice you with a luxuriously comfortable ride.
The four-door CT6 can seat five comfortably on the standard leather upholstery. The standard interior features in CT6-V includes heated and ventilated front seats and heated outboard rear seats. The front seats are performance-oriented bucket seats and feature 16-way adjustability.

The CT6-V user experience is as responsive as the vehicle. The infotainment system features a 10.2-inch multi-touch screen with multiple controlling options such as natural voice recognition, steering mounted controls and the touchscreen itself. Other standard features include Bluetooth connectivity, two USB ports, satellite radio, wireless device charging, a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The Cadillac CT6-V features a Bose Panaray 34-speaker audio system, we are sure the audiophile will go crazy.
The intuitive user experience has large on-screen buttons and quick response times. Though the menu structure’s complexity is an issue as it requires you to look away from the road.
The CT6-V offers a reasonable trunk space to suffice a family weekend getaway. The large size does not translate into an exceptional space in the trunk. The wide trunk opening makes way for storing larger items with ease but the volume is below average.

The performance sports sedan’s chiseled exterior with a dark and distinguished look rides atop of unique 20-inch V-Series wheels with summer-only tires. The rear fascia is highlighted by the spoiler which further expresses the sedan’s performance capabilities.

The safety features include Eight Airbags, automatic parking assist with braking, automatic seat belt tightening, Following Distance Indicator, Enhanced Automatic Braking, Forward collision alert, Front pedestrian braking, HD surround view, LATCH system, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning System, Night vision, Passenger sensing system, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Reverse Automatic Braking, and Surround vision recorder.
None of the U.S. safety rating agencies have tested the 2020 Cadillac CT6 yet, following the ongoing trend similar to all other luxury sedans skipping the test.
The 2020 Cadillac CT6-V has a clear power advantage over the BMW 750i. The BMW received a midcycle refresh in 2020 which allows the 750i to churn out 523 hp, making it more competitive. However, the BMW 7 series is more practical with more trunk space and better fuel economy. Considering the price and standard features, CT6-V is an appealing option.
The Audi A8 is the newest in the class with impeccable interiors, strong performance and a high level of comfort. The latest redesign makes the A8 the strongest feature suit with high-end technology. However, the less [powerfull A8 isn’t efficient as well. Further making the choice more complex, CT6-V capacious interiors are beyond comparison.
The Mercedes-Benz S Class is a testament to classic and traditional style and performance. The recent updates have kept the S class sedan at the top. Even when CT6-V is more powerful, the Mercedes S class performance is updated. However, the S class sedan is expensive and compact as compared to the Caddy.
The fate of the Cadillac CT6-V is yet to witness a high but the automaker has left no stone unturned to mark the beginning of the new era. The performance focussed luxury sedan with numerous and appealing features is ready to undercut its German counterparts. Undoubtedly the spirited driving experience is not the European style but American. Comfort and athleticism are best exemplified by the CT6-V.
