Overall Rating
Starting at a base price of $26,985, the Voyager comes in 2 trim levels, both punching out 287hp and 262 lb-ft of torque from its 3.6-liter V6, which is more than enough for a minivan of its class.
Long gone are the days, wherein Minivans were called as the workhorses in the Automotive Sector. That tag has now been upgraded to the likes of SUVs and Crossovers. It is like a swiss knife on wheels, that does everything. Chrysler has rebadged the Pacifica minivan as the Voyager, which is definitely worth its price tag and is one heck of a bargain.
The minivan segment was brought into the Automotive industry for being a low-cost alternative to family transportation. The current trend would fool us into believing that Minivans are no more in Demand, but its a completely different story with Chrysler which has managed to keep its minivan segment alive for so many years, which is commendable.
Regardless of which trim or powertrain you choose, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager is a fuel-efficient choice that is definitely lighter on your wallet, while going on long family trips. We would recommend the value-packed LX, wherein you get plenty of good features for only a bit more money. The LX begins at an affordable price of $29,795.

The Voyager is offered in two trims L and LX. The L and LX are the standard offerings that would be available in the market. LX is a slightly higher version with standard upgraded quality. Joining them will be a new fleet-only LXi trim.

Which Trim do we recommend?

If you like the way Pacifica used to perform with its standard V6, we are certain that you’ll like the Voyager as well.
Underneath the hood, Chrysler has not fiddled with the engine in the Voyager but has bought changes where needed. The Odyssey is powered by a sweet-sounding and efficient 3.6L V6 which pumps out 287 horses and 262 pound-feet of torque. This engine and the new 9-Speed Automatic gearbox together creates wonders. The V6 is polished and fools you into forgetting that it’s actually a van!

Despite having almost the same engine displacement as the rest of the crossovers in the segment, Toyota has done a commendable job in punching out so much power from such a moderate engine. The Voyager is a tiny bit less powerful than the Sienna in terms of ponies but is at par with Sienna in terms of torque. Sedona’s smaller 3.3L engine lets it down a bit.
The engine is punchy enough, but then the acceleration feels sluggish. If you want to get the most out of that 3.6L V6, you’ll have to seriously lock your foot onto the pedal with all your might. With the official times not out yet, Pacifica took 7.4 seconds to complete the 60 mph run, which is pretty decent for a minivan. Although we have no doubt, that the 2020 version will do even better as it’s lighter and nimbler.

The Honda Odyssey which is often referred to as the flag bearer of minivans does the best in terms of accelerating times. Toyota Sienna also achieves a pretty respectable time of 7.8 seconds, considering that it is the heaviest of the lot.
The Voyager is the Spitting image pf the Pacifica performance-wise. It is an ideal passenger transportation machine. The Voyager is certainly at the top of the list with some of the best in the segment when it comes to handling. And this is taken care of by its well-sorted powertrain which provides a smooth enough ride.
Braking is decent on the Voyager. Although Minivans are known for their utilitarian nature and better reliability, then one important factor that makes a vital contribution to the Voyager’s reliability is its braking. Electronic brake distribution and anti-lock braking systems always keep the vehicle under control.

Unfortunately, the dimensions of the rotor discs and the stopping distance for the Voyager are not out yet. Meanwhile, the heaviest minivan of the bunch, Toyota Sienna L has the largest rotor discs of the bunch, followed by the Honda Odyssey and the Sedona L thereafter.
The Voyager’s efficiency is what makes any family guy be in love with Chrysler and come rushing to the showroom to buy one. With its 3.6-liter V6 working alongside with the 9-speed automatic transmission, the Voyager with the same powertrain as the Pacifica gives a segment-best combined mileage of 23.5, with it doing 20mpg in the city and 28 on the Highway.

With the likes of Class-leading Honda Odyssey as the Voyager’s competition, there can never be a clear winner as far as efficiency is concerned. In fact, all cars in this segment are on par with each other, with the Sienna and Sedona being left dry with 21 mpg.
The Voyager’s interior is not that different from the Pacifica. The interior of the Voyager is a pleasant place to be in. Neglecting the fact, that it does not come equipped with leather seats or for that matter power-sliding doors, Chrysler has done a pretty good job inside. Once inside, the seats in the Voyager feel pretty comfortable and can seat up to 7 passengers without much difficulty. Although, it does include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a six-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation.
A minivan’s primary job designation is to haul people from one place to another with ease and that too comfortably, and the Voyager manages to do this with the utmost ease. The base trim includes a second-row bench seat, which then gets replaced with captain’s chairs in the LX trim. Chrysler also teases you with heated seats and steering wheel which is offered as an optional cold-weather package. It is a modern family hauler that is high on creature comfort as well.

Chrysler has done a good job of providing us with the most spacious and comfortable second-row seats in this category. The Voyager has foldable seats that completely vanish when folded, unlike the bulged out ones in the Honda. Toyota Sienna and Kia Sedona stay at the end of the list with the minimum flexible interior space and comfort of the lot.
The base L Trim is devoid of any interesting features per se, but with the LX trim, you get a host of features best suited for a minivan at this price.
Some of the Features on point are-
Cargo space is plentiful in the Voyager with 32.3 cubic feet volume, which is not even close to the best, but then is more than enough. It is pretty practical as the rear seats seamlessly fold-down of the Chrysler Voyager flat onto the floor. Nevertheless, the volume is still impressive which is almost double that of a regular-sized sedan.

Toyota comes off at the top of the list with 39.1 cu-ft. And ironically the Chrysler Voyager with the least.
The other thing that is equipped in the Chrysler that came as a surprise to us was that it does not come with power sliding rear doors, but rather with manually handed doors.
When you mention the word styling, Minivan’s are not the first thing that pops into your head. They don’t reciprocate well. It’s not a different story with the Voyager. The van as a whole looks plain and not as pleasing as some of its competitors, even though the 17-inch alloys truly add to the charisma of the whole vehicle. It shares the same design formula with the Pacifica, which is basically based on the same platform as the Voyager.

The Chrysler Voyager has the longest wheelbase of the bunch and also the shortest ground clearance at 5.1 inches. As is evident from the above data, the shorter wheelbase of the Honda Odyssey translates to lesse passenger volume. Whereas the Toyota Sienna L and the Kia Sedona L are at par in terms of both wheelbase length and ground clearance.
Exterior Features
Chrysler reliability and safety have never been in question, and with the Pacifica getting 5-stars all across the board by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA), this proves the point just right. Voyager’s armory is equipped with the usual safety systems such as the Electronic Stability Control and the LATCH Anchor System. This is nowhere close to the Driver Assist Safety Features which the Pacifica used to offer in their Standard Model as well.
The Chrysler Voyager is undoubtedly a much better-looking minivan than the Honda Odyssey, even though the resemblance is uncanny. It comes loaded with a lot of convenience and safety features. We can also argue that its the best-equipped car of the lot. That being said, Honda impresses us with its utter reliability and spacious interior. The driving dynamics are far better and even with the huge footprint, it's easy to maneuver in tight spots. If you look past the looks then the Odyssey truly deserves the crown and the base trim is about $3000 cheaper.
Toyota Sienna is the heaviest minivan of the lot. Even though being the heaviest, riding and maneuvering the vehicle around corners is much better than its competitors, but then it fails to excel in its primary usage, Hauling people and cargo. It has the most cramped up interior of the lot and with a higher price tag, it doesn’t impress. It has a good feature list. But it fails to provide the delicate balance of decent performance and feature-rich interiors which Chrysler has achieved with the Voyager.
KIA Sedona has the most character of the lot. It feels much more premium than the competition. It is also the cheapest of the lot but that comes with downsides. Performance is lackluster and is more cramped than the competition. The handling and stability are nowhere near the Chrysler Voyager. It has a smaller footprint which makes it much more driving friendly. But looks and the low price tag doesn’t actually impress us as much as the all-rounded Voyager.
Overall, the Honda Odyssey is still the better choice of the lot.
For families on a budget, there isn’t a more modern solution to transport people from one place to another than the Chrysler Voyager. It is a seriously good Package, if not the best. Keeping aside the fact, that it’s let go of some passenger space and Cargo Volume, The Voyager has its set of pros which is noteworthy. The Chrysler Voyager kicks up the minivan game and keeps the playing field alive and lively. It does pitch itself as a role model for the rest of the competition.
