Overall Rating
When Nissan wanted to compete in the luxury sedan segment they came up with the Infiniti. The performance of the brand was not great at the start, the sales were low and the models were barely recognizable but since then it has made an improvement on all fronts.
When Nissan wanted to compete in the luxury sedan segment they came up with the Infiniti. It was introduced in the United States back in 1989. Following the lead of the rivals such as Toyota and Honda, they too launched a marque targeting the luxury sedan base. The 2020 Infiniti Q50 is one of those few vehicles in this segemnt that scores high on performance as well as luxury.
It comes in 4 trims - Pure, Luxe, Edition 30, and Sport. 2020 also marks Inifiniti's 30 years in the luxury journey and this adds unique aesthetic features. The 2020 Infiniti Q50 is powered by a fiesty 3.0L Turbocharged V6 that can do 0-60 mph in 7.0 seconds. The interior is plush with plush leather and various other comfort and convenience features.
We recommend the 3.0t Luxe trim as the Pure variant doesn’t offer much in terms of functionality. Edition 30 and above don’t justify the price tag. The Luxe is the middle ground between the base and top-end models. Plus you can use that money saved on packages offered by Infiniti to get what you want and nothing more. The packages are Essential and Pre-Assist which brings a lot of functionality to the Luxe like safety features.

Although it rides on an aging platform, the 2020 Q50’s styling remains a strong point, and it comes with an impressive standard-equipment list - Kbb.com

The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has been dropped, leaving a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 as the base engine - Cars.com
The Infiniti Q50 is a powerful car and there is no doubt about it as the powertrain produces 300hp, which is a lot of power for a compact luxury sedan. Under the hood is a 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 coupled with a 7-speed automatic. Both of these are enough to make it a fast car that is luxurious at the same time. It can reach 0-60 mph in just 7.0 sec and a quarter-mile comes up in a swifter of 15.4 seconds.
Braking duty is handled by 12.6-in rotors at the front and 12.1-in ones at the rear. The Infiniti Q50 has a lot of flaws when it comes to riding and handling. It is a heavy car and that plays a major role when cornering. There are driving assist functions like stability control and advanced steering systems to help you out in critical situations but ditch them and it's hard to judge what’s going on.

When compared with the competition the crown goes to the Infiniti Q50 without any questions. It has a bigger engine than the competition which produces more horsepower and torque than all others. The closest to it is Volvo S60 with 250 hp (50 less than the Q50) and 258 lb-ft torque. The Lexus is closely matched with the Volvo but Audi is far behind when it comes to the power in terms of bhp.
Less luxurious than some of its competitors, and not as high-performance as others, the Infiniti Q50 is something of a confusing in-betweener in the compact luxury sedan segment - Motortrend.com
The Q50 lacks in terms of mileage on both city and highway thanks to its bigger engine. Considering that it returns 20 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. Not bad for a turbocharged V6! But considering the segment in which it competes, you expect the car to perform well on the fuel-economy scale.
It makes up for its marginal loss of MPG figures with its 20-gallon fuel tank. It helps the 2020 Infiniti Q50 achieve a driving range of 360 miles which is well ahead of its 'efficient' competition. Pitch in the AWD configuration and the figures drop to 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway.

Coming to the competition Audi and Volvo have it tied up with combined mileage which means they take the crown in the competition and are the clear winners. The Lexus is no better than the Infiniti with a combined MPG of 24. That may not seem big but it adds up over time. The Infiniti comes back in the game as it has the largest fuel tank in the competition with 20 gallons that means it has a bigger range in miles.
Terrific seats and soft-touch points contribute to the general feeling of luxury in the 2020 Infiniti Q50 - Kbb.com
Being a luxury sedan the interior is where the 2020 Infiniti Q50 doesn't compromise. It has to be premium and loaded with tech to make it stand out in the competition. The Infiniti offers a handsome amount of space for the occupants both rear and front. The seating is also very comfortable and will feel the premium touch across all the interior. From the red stitching to the intelligent use of leather.
Being a luxury sedan the comfort is the forefront of the car where it needs to score the highest. There are a lot of features to make your ride in Q50 comfortable like the heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, and power-adjustable seats. The 2020 Infiniti Q50 has a cargo capacity of 13.2 cu. ft. which is fairly good and the highest of the bunch here.
The 2020 Q50 comes with dual-screen and supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are 6 speakers in total in the Pure, and Luxe trim but you can increase that number up to 16 by going for the Sport and above. In Sport, and Red Sport the speaker offered are from Bose and offer a surround sound system.

Looking at the competition Infiniti offers the largest boot and right after that is Audi A4. Lexus is the clear loser in the game of who got the biggest trunk. All this is thanks to the Q50 length which is longer than the competition and that directly means more space both inside and out.
While many consider Audi and BMW the last word in midsize luxury performance sedans, Infiniti has other idea - Autotrader.com
The 2020 Q50 is a good-looking car and it has been that way for a long time. By looking at the car you can’t tell that this has been in the market for more than 6 years. It was launched in 2014 and since then the sedan has not gone through any generation changes. There are not many complaints about how the car looks.
When you look at the car from the front the car looks bold and graceful at the same time because of that front chrome grill. The Infiniti emblem is sitting right in the center of the grill. Now, coming to the side of the vehicle the 18-inch wheel with aluminum alloy increases its command on the road and you can get the 19-inch in the Sport and the Red Sport version.

It misses out on the chrome door handle but makes it up with the chrome window moldings. The body lines are prominent and make it look appealing. The rear window is slant because the coupe looks at the rear which may affect the rear visibility.
The 2020 Infiniti Q50 lacks complete safety information but offers standard automatic braking and other optional active features - Thecarconnection.com
Being a marque of Nissan there are no compromises when it comes to safety. Coming from the land of Toyota and Honda there is no doubt about the reliability and longevity. Being an entry-level luxury sedan there will not be many features but there will be all the required ones.
Other safety features that are present in the 2020 Infiniti Q50 are Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Front Seat Pre-Crash Seat Belts, Collision Notification via INFINITI InTouch™ Services, Forward Emergency Braking, Backup Collision Intervention, Lane Departure Prevention, Blind Spot Intervention, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.
Hailing from the same land the Lexus IS 300 is true competition the Infiniti faces. Both are the marque of the two of the biggest manufacturers that come from Japan. Lexus from Toyota and Infiniti from Nissan. Both of these are very similar in a lot of ways and each has its ups and downs. Q50 has a bigger engine and more power whereas Lexus has better mileage.
The Swedish manufacturer is known for making vehicles that are the definition of luxury and S60 is no different in that aspect. The car offers a good blend of power and comfort never letting you down in any of the aspects. The S60 comes with a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine that produces a good 250 hp and that in an entry-level luxury sedan is enough.
The Germans have been ruling the luxury vehicle segment and Audi played a big part in that. It has always been hailed as one of the best options whenever it came to offering comfort. The Audi A4 is no different. It is one of the best cars out there in this price segment. The car may lack power when compared to the rivals but the driving experience it offers makes up for that shortage of power.\
The Infiniti Q50 is best-defined as- a car trying to remain relevant to the new age by wearing the cape of modernization but at the heart is not. It has been in the market for 7 years. It looks good but you will get fed up with every good thing once you see it enough times.
The car needs generation change and it needs it now if it wants to compete with the likes of Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C Class, and Volvo S60.
