Which is the best value model of the 2020 Mazda6 sedan?
We would recommend you go for the 2.5L turbocharged engine equipped, the 2020 Mazda6 Grand Touring trim which treats you with a much more powerful engine and more standard creature comfort features for a nominal bump in price.
The base engine used for all of the Mazda 6 trims is a robust 2.5L inline four-pot that has two states of tune. The first two trims are powered by the naturally aspirated engine that pumps out 187 horses and 186 pound-feet of torque. The remaining three trims are powered by a turbocharged version of the same engine.
A 6-Speed Automatic transmission takes care of power delivery to the front wheels which efficiently transfers the power without any loss. The turbocharged setup chunks out 250 HP and 310 lb-ft of torque which is apt for the performance-oriented drivers. Even with the turbocharger, low-end torque is impressive which helps you slide out of at any given situation.

Mazda is the priciest of the lot and also has the largest engine of the lot. Honda Accord is the most powerful sedan from the lot and the lower curb weight helps it have an edge over the Mazda. Ford Fusion and Chevy Malibu come in the lower slab of the segment with mediocre power figures.
With a time of just 7.1 seconds to do the 0- 60MPH dash, the Mazda is no slouch in terms of performance. In daily driving as well, the Mazda doesn't disappoint as the engine and transmission work in perfect harmony together to deliver a smooth and engaging driving experience.
The turbocharged unit gives slightly better numbers for a more spirited run. Minimal lag helps you munch the tarmac faster, which is rare in this segment. The acceleration is not jagged as much and power delivery is linear which gives you a comfortable thrust.

Mazda’s precise 6-Speed transmission helps it accelerate from 0-60 in a class-leading 7.1 seconds which puts it on top of the powerful players as well. The Accord is just behind it in terms of both 0-60 and quarter-mile timing. Ford Fusion is the slowest due to its maximum curb weight and Chevy ends up before Ford.
Ride and handling is the strong point of this Mazda. The Mazda 6's steering wheel is well-weighed which is supported by a precise and adaptive suspension that sums up for an impressive and involving driving experience. The suspension takes in all of the imperfections on the road with ease and gives the occupants a calm and relaxed experience.
The highlighting feature which makes the Mazda 6s driving such intuitive is the smart G-Vector control Plus technology. This system helps the Mazda 6 tackle corners with more confidence as it adjusts power delivery and dampens the inner brakes to help maintain stability. The output is minimal to nil body roll and you stay put even when tackling corners aggressively.
The Mazda 6's brakes have never been its strong point per se and it is evident for the 2020 model as well. The 127ft. Distance to stop from 60-0 isn't bad for a mid-size sedan but falls pale when compared to other cars in the category.
The sedan gradually works on the brakes and throttle to adjust the center of gravity in the 6 to corner and brake better. It’s a neat trick that happens in the background and you will not be able to notice the wizardry. The smaller 11.7 front and 10.9 rear brake rotors are thus not a handicap for the 6 because of its clever trickery.

Ford Fusion has the beefiest brakes of the lot as the extra bite is required to stop the added weight. Chevy Malibu also follows the same pattern. Honda Accord has smaller brakes as it is lighter than the rest.

Which Mazda 6 Should I buy, 2019 or 2020?
The mid-size sedan segment attracts people because of the fuel efficiency figures they put on offer. The smart cylinder deactivation technology which Mazda has adopted in its entire line up helps it return impressive MPG figures.
The bigger 16.4-gallon tank also gives it the caliber to have an uninterrupted long journey. It stays well above the average in this class and given the fact that it achieves it with the larger 2.5L turbocharged engine is impressive.

Honda has time and again impressed us with the best fuel economy in its class. This is because of the usage of its famed VTEC technology that helps save fuel when not in demand. Ford Fusion is the least efficient as the engine is least efficient and also carries the most weight. Chevrolet Malibu extracts good figures due to the turbocharged setup.
Is Mazda 6 a good family car?
How well does the Chevy Malibu perform?
Mazda 6 has unarguably has one of the best cabins in this segment. In fact, the 6 takes the cabin's ambiance further up a notch with its clean looks and impressive build quality and use of premium material. The dashboard is clean with minimum yet usable buttons which help the dash look decluttered and thus gives the cabin an airy feel.
The seats provide ample under-thigh and bolster support which provides for a comfortable experience. The front seats are heated and powered which allows the occupants to have the perfect sitting position. The rear seats though comfortable are a bit cramped which takes away the roomy vibe, which the front row emits.

Mazda has one of the most comfortable seats in the class as it has ample space along with well-supported seats. But Honda Accord takes the crown here with the most spacious cabin which is high on comfort as well. The cabin on offer in the Ford Fusion looks high on tech, yet draws behind on the practicality factor. Speaking of the Chevy Malibu, the cabin looks clean and is also much more spacious, but is not well optimized like the Mazda or Honda.
2020 Mazda 6 comes with an 8-inch infotainment system which is coupled to an 11- speaker setup which is primarily controlled by a control knob on the center console similar to that used by premium brands such as BMW and Audi. It is equipped with Internet Radio integration from all of the prominent providers. A USB audio input is also available for on the go music.
Mazda's infotainment system has the tactility and visual punch to impress. Other features include :
The top trims come with 3 years worth of SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link subscription which includes information for traffic, weather, sports scores, fuel prices, and nearby parking spots.
The 2020 Mazda 6 combines an involving drive with practicality. This is a very fragile combination that not many cars can achieve in this day and age. The Mazda does it without any hiccups. The 14.7 cubic feet of cargo space though might feel sufficient, yet it's the least amount of space you can get underneath the trunk of any car in this segment.
Mazda gives you the flexibility to fold the rear seats for added cargo space but makes it a lot more cumbersome, as you cannot do it from the cabin. The latches are located in the trunk and require the user to get out and do the needful.

What are the different Mazda 6 models?
Mazda has given their best in designing the 6 and it has fared well. The 2020 Mazda 6 is one of the best yet all the while distinct looking sedans in this segment. It complies with sleek lines with modern cues that beautifully wrap the body on the compact chassis to give it a complete look. Mazda has managed to mix simplicity and drama to form the smooth flowing lines of the 6. It surely demands a second look every time. That’s how good it looks.
The front grille might be big for some but that’s subjective and we totally love it. The sleek chrome borderline treatment makes the front look from a class above. In fact, this is the only sedan from this class that looks so subtle but at the same time be melodramatic. All of the others in this segment just look bland.

Is Mazda 6 a luxury car?
Mazda provides the maximum driver and safety assist features in this class. Mazda doesn’t compromise on the safety front and thus the 6 will always have your back in the journey. The IIHS and the NHTSA are yet to rate the 2020 Mazda 6 for safety ratings.
Some interesting and highlighting features include adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and a very useful speed limit detection sensor that detects speed limit boards and informs you if exceeded.

How safe is the 2020 Honda Accord
Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu a truly reliable car?
The 2020 Mazda 6 takes on the undefeated champ of this class, the Honda Accord. Honda has managed to get the portion just right to deliver a wholesome sedan which is utterly reliable (Why not?, Its a Honda!), a robust 1.5L Inline-4 engine that pumps out more power than its competition and a very clean and spacious cabin. This mixture is a winning formula that has not been toppled for a long time now. Mazda 6 reaches close to dethroning the Accord but still hasn’t struck the right cord and so we will go for the 2020 Honda Accord.
Ford Fusion has the most spacious front row in this class which translates to a completely different driving experience. It has an edge over the others in this class with the most comfortable seats and a clean dashboard. But then again it is weighted at creature comfort alone whereas the Mazda 6 gives you a much better proposition with a much more modern interior setup and a host of safety and creature comforts along with a more powerful engine. All of this makes the Mazda 6 a much better proposition here.
Chevy’s Malibu is the only sedan off the lot that locks horns with the Mazda in terms of dramatic and modern looks. Both have been designed much later than the other contenders which give them the edge in looks and modern features. But the Malibu underperforms and is the least powerful of the lot which translates to an uninteresting driving experience. Practicality is also not at par with the Mazda and thus Mazda 6 is the best bet here.
Mazda has come a long way and has improved a lot which is evidently visible in the 2020 6 Sedan. It combines exploitable power, modern features and a very modern outlook which makes it one of the most handsome looking sedans in this class. But it still has to polish a few unfinished ends to provide the perfectly balanced car which to date only the Honda has achieved with the Accord.
