Overall Rating
Mitsubishi Outlander falls in the segment of compact SUV which has heavy competition in the market. In terms of overall dimension the vehicle looks good and you will never feel the bulk in its exterior being a 7 seater.
Brands often play the game of releasing new versions of the car, just by adding some features that can also be added as an upgraded trim. Much like many other brands, the Mitsubishi has an upgrade to its Outlander SUV in 2020. The story is not different here. Although there are cosmetic appearances that look great now. Much more was expected from the brand but due to the lazy demand of the car the company has not gone through many updates, maybe any added trim can do that job.
There is no visible difference between any of the trims. However, you will get more fun to drive features upgraded with every trim. Surprisingly Mitsubishi has kept the engine power the same in all the 5 trims. There’s no difference in engine tuning in any of the 5 trims with the same engine. The GT 3.0 S AWC does get the best features and a bigger more efficient and reliable V6 engine developed by Mitsubishi. The Price difference between the top trim and the standard trim is considerably lesser than many rivals. It just costs 7 grand more to switch from the base to the top model. We believe the top trim the GT 3.0 S AWC as a worthy option to buy among all if you consider power and performance over money. The base variant is the most value for money decision to buy with features that are suitable and practical. It also packs the same engine technology, as space and seats in the interior do remain the same as its higher trim line.

Mitsubishi is a car brand that reinvents new features every time it goes through an update. In the case of this 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander, you can find a whole lot of new features that come intelligently bundled in different trims. Mitsubishi offers 6 different trims and all load various features. The engine and transmission remain the same in 5 trims whereas the costliest trim in the line the GT 3.0 S AWC comes with a 3 L MIVEC V6 which is powerful yet efficient.

In our opinion, the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander could have been a better performer but it is not meant to impress with a 2.4 L displacement. It has a practical amount of power which goes with three transmission options. Cleverly Mitsubishi gets you an engine option with this car that generates better power figures and will impress your boss on the road. For regular use, you will not miss on power even with the standard engine unless you are racing with a V engine. The continued use of the same engine in the car makes it a boring affair to drive for one who already drove the older version.

However, the lack of a powerful engine in the standard version is just because of the reason that many crossover or light and compact SUVs like this have a similarly powered engine. One thing that surely needs attention is the humming of the engine when revved hard. The engine growls in a buzzing note which feels a lack of breathing inside the engine hood.
Acceleration lacks agility and swiftness. You will surely go low on enthusiasm when you drive this car. The Inline 4 is an efficient motor but lags on servicing the push towards its wheels. On free-running highways, you might end getting angry by continuously pushing the pedals to gain some extra spin on the rear wheels which won’t come easily. There is no difference in acceleration figures in the new version and the older one.

The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander 0-60 figures need an update but it will fall in the same place like its competitors only fractional misses might be noted.
Ride and Handling dynamics of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander will never make you complain. The driving ergonomics in this car are the best in class and need not need a second thought on that. The vehicle drives quite well on the road and has a great road hold even at high speeds. Body rolls do occur on sharp turns but is not that much which will affect its overall ride quality. You can run past city roads and tight traffic actively with this vehicle.
The turning radius of this SUV is more lika na Hatchback and makes crawling over tight spaces fun. Even on sudden braking and acceleration you won't get the jerk inside the cabin, the suspension setup does a great job here. But the Mitsubishi Outlander will give you jerks on rough lanes because of the light chassis and soft suspension assembled to its body.
The braking performance of the Mitsubishi Outlander put it in a class of SUVs with the best braking performance. The brakes perform very energetically. At normal speeds the brakes hold the vehicle in position very quickly on pushing the brake pedals. Even at high speeds the vehicle brakes pro actively clutches the vehicle and brings the SUV to halt in a few seconds. There are brake assist systems in the vehicle that assist you while driving and make it a safer driving experience.

You can be confident with the braking of this vehicle although the ergonomics and engine of this isnt capable that much that it can cruise the vehicle suddenly to higher speeds. Hence you can be worry free with your careless wife driving any day
The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander gets an economical mileage out of it. It offers a pocket friendly ride. The engine is not a thirsty one and even at lower speeds and city traffic you can draw out an efficient mileage. On highways the vehicle gets out really good mileage. Even the drive modes turn out to be functional and gives good mileage from the normal one.

However, the SUVs competitors do offer further better mileage than the Outlander and these are superior in power and efficiency than the Mitsubishi offers.
Interior of the Mitsubishi Outlander gets no visible changes from the last version. However you can witness tweaks in the interior with fit and finish work done seriously. It won't impress you but is manageable for the price it comes. The interior isn't plush and you are surely not expecting one from a compact SUV
Mitsubishi will disappoint you somewhat in the plastic area if you were thinking of soft touch material in its inside. There is use of hard plastic on the interior. The color scheme of the interior feels dull and there is a lack of fit and finish inside it cabin. However it is elegant and the design of the dashboard is kept simple and nice. But you could expect some better features and an upgraded material on its inside for the price.
After a disappointment in the Interior material and fit and finish of this car, you will be further disappointed with its comfort. There is nothing extraordinary in terms of comfort and as Mitsubishi Outlander is a 7 seater it's overtly disappointing in the third row. If you are a family of 5 you can ride happily but if you are planning to fit 7 members inside then you will be proved wrong.

Mitsubishi has somehow adjusted the third row which is not practical in terms of leg, head and knee room for an adult. Childrens can fit easily but even climbing inside and out the third row is an adventurous job. Seats at the front and second row are comfortable and cushioned and the third row seats are folded down. You can sway the second row seats to make room in the third row although there is not much room to do so and fits everything tightly.
The Mitsubishi Outlander performs decently in the infotainment area and is packed well with features than entertain you throughout the ride. Even the fit and finish of the infotainment cluster is maintained and good. You get a better deal though on the infotainment area of this vehicle in this segment even the standard model loads good features. Some highlights of the Infotainment features are as follows.
The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander is backed with a great amount of cargo space only if you fold down the third row seats.Even with the third row seats upright on place it won't disappoint. You can still load your belongings and the extra bit of cargo you are willing to stuff can be done by folding the rear seats.

Exceptionally the 60/40 second row seats can also be folded and then you can plan to fit a baby elephant. One thing that will dishearten you is the large ground clearance that makes it a muscly job to put things inside the car from the rear cargo door.
Mitsubishi Outlander has tried well to cover up the flaws inside its interior with providing comfort features and that will melt your heart for the brand, no that won't happen. All these features come with rivals and even some of them pack better comfort and convenience features for a similar price.
The Cowl in the front is long and looks extended. There is a sound exterior that comes with great steel. The Headlights and the detailing will win your heart and this time we mean it. The sharp and sleek design of the grille gets a character to it.The Long Wheel base which makes room for 3 rows inside the car gives it a huge look. It's not less than any Lexus car in terms of design. It has a captivating exterior overall.

The changes that come handy in the 2020 Mitsubishi outlander is the lower grille that now comes with piano black finish and extends to the fog lamps. Mitsubishi has maintained the design really well with the 18` inch aluminum gloss black painted wheel. The black alloy wheels look superb with any body color. The Mitsubishi Outlander feels like a nice buddy on the road. There’s good chrome highlights in its grille and body gets a glossier paint body. The SUV looks modern and compact. You can say that this SUV wins on the exterior looks.
The Exterior has great features that adds to the convenience and style of the vehicle.
Mitsubishi has installed some great modern safety features in the outlander. It gets sound work on the safety of the vehicle. There are even high tech driver-assist features such as automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. The vehicle even scores well on the NHTSA and IIHS benchmark.
The Honda CR-V is a great option over Mitsubishi’s Outlander and gets great features in its interior. The lesser sized engine in the Honda CR-V is similarly powerful and pushes ahead with more low end torque. However, it lacks acceleration but has an excellent fuel efficiency in its class. The Honda CR-V is a 5 seater but is more roomier and spacious than the Mitsubishi Outlander. The 2020 Mitsubishi outlander can pack 7 when needed and surely is a better car in terms of design and has a reliable engine.
There is no other car that can beat the likes of a Toyota car. Similarly priced this Japanese contender gets much better features compared to the Mitsubishi Outlander. The RAV 4looks fancy but it gets a better engine with better power and torque that goes to a high range. The RAV 4 also gets better fuel efficiency. The RAV 4, however, lacks space usage and roominess compared to a five-seater. It is almost similar in ride and handling and performance and gets some more features on the interiors. It surely needs consideration.
The Chevrolet Equinox is the sweetest muscle SUV on the American roads. The Compact SUV is the most loved family SUV. The Equinox is a great built car and has better safety upgrades. It gets a load of interior features and a lot of hot upgrades in 2020. The engine gets upgraded and now has an optional turbocharged 2.0L option that packs more power. The base model Equinox has a pleasing exterior and a good interior however the Outlander has got more performance that makes it a comparatively better option.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is a decent car and has good driving dynamics. It also performs well in its segment and is neither underpowered nor has an excellent power figure. The exterior is designed well and gets great paintwork. Interior quality will disappoint you but Mitsubishi is not about fancy it has added practical design. What impresses is the front grille which adds an upmarket look to its design. You can be assured of buying this car. At the price point, this car comes it is surely a value for money purchase.
