Overall Rating
In the past 18 years, the car has undergone major facelifts that have turned it from just another luxury SUV to becoming one of the benchmarks of the segment. The newest SUV coupe from Porsche is going to go up against its sibling Audi Q8, close competitor BMW X6, and the segment-leading Mercedes AMG GLE 43 Coupe.
Porsche. The name reminds us of the 911, one of the most iconic cars of all time. The brand has literally made the coupe segment a standalone segment with the sloping roofline with sleek yet aggressive lines. The work they have done has been a gamechanger and to this day, they remain trendsetters.
Acquired by the Volkswagen Group in 2008, the car company is regarded as one of the most prestigious carmakers in the business. To take things forward in the 21st century, and to stay relevant, the brand had to adapt to the growing demand for luxury with utility, and so, the Cayenne was born in 2002.
As per our consideration, the base variant works just fine as a daily driver and a standalone vehicle. We would recommend adding a few driver assistance features and the Bose Sound system to make it a complete value for money offering.

As per our consideration, the base variant works just fine as a daily driver and a standalone vehicle. We would recommend adding a few driver assistance features and the Bose Sound system to make it a complete value for money offering.
The 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe engine is a 3.0L turbocharged V6 in the base variant which can churn out an adequate 335hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. The S Coupe gets a higher performing engine with a twin-turbocharged 2.9L V6 that can churn out a massive 434 ponies and staggering pulling power of 401 lb-ft.

The car is on par with its competition in its segment with the same engine and same horsepower as its competitors. The Mercedes AMG trumps out its competition with its trademark overperforming characteristics.
So, how much power is needed to get the 2-tonne mammoth to get to 60mph? Equipped with a 3.0L turbocharged V6, the car is mind-numbingly fast and agile. The car can hop to 60 under 6 secs and doesn’t feel out of control at any point. The brand has equipped the car with the character of a sports car in the body of an SUV Coupe.

Porsche claims a top track speed of 150 mph for the 2020 Cayenne Coupe which is more than most people need and far more than some people can handle on the road. Nevertheless, the car offers immediate thrust when you put the pedal to the metal. The car also comes with the biggest spoiler ever in a road usable SUV that gets activated at speeds above 56mph to increase the downforce produced.
Porsche has equipped the entire Cayenne Coupe range with the best-in-the-business Brembo Ceramic Coated brake calipers. The base model comes with 4-piston brake calipers while the S and hybrid models come with 6-piston calipers. These get bumped up to massive 10-piston calipers when you opt for the Cayenne Coupe Turbo.

To put it into perspective, the 631hp Lamborghini Huracan EVO which can go from 0-60 in 2.9s, comes with 6-piston calipers. These are standard on your Cayenne Coupe, which makes it one of the safest cars in its class.
Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution is also standard. Warn and Brake Assist system is also available across all trims of the Cayenne Coupe but the system is not yet optimized to perform accurately. So, you need to rely on your instincts if any person or thing crops up in your way.
Porsche has mastered the art of providing an enthralling driving experience. Building on the superb driving dynamics of the Porsche Cayenne, the 2020 Cayenne Coupe has just glorified the experience that much more. With rear-wheel steering as standard, the car provides no-nonsense in-control drivability.
Driving the car is pretty easy if you have the relevant experience of handling such a heavy and powerful vehicle. The attention towards controlling understeer in the car is extraordinary and the adaptive suspension system does a remarkable job in keeping the car stuck to the road at all times. The Turbo models get an upgraded adaptive Air Suspension system.
Tucking into a tight corner and making it stick is a different story altogether because there is no turn where the Cayenne Coupe feels out of its depth. If you are someone who prefers bursts of performance even in your daily driving spree, then make sure to get an upgrade to Ceramic Performance Brakes which will set you back around $7,000. Oversteering the car is not at all a problem and the Coupe does an amazing job at exhibiting that every time you need it to. Steering responses offered by the car are also very evident and makes you understand the car all the way better. The love that goes into making this car can be seen all across during the driving.
When you are paying such a premium price, you do expect some practicality along with luxury. Considering that the Porsche Cayenne Coupe fuel economy is the same as the Cayenne, comparing it with other cars of its segment, is when you get the real picture.

Though the expectation of an improvement does exist, the figures are quite satisfactory.
The 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe has one of the best fuel economies in the city and on the highway in contrast to its competitors. The BMW X6 takes the cake with the most fuel-efficient engine but that does not deter the Porsche.
With a usable fuel tank capacity of 23.7 gallons, the car is tied with the Mercedes AMG GLE 43 43 Coupe. This allows the Porsche to offer a combined range of 474 miles.
Enter into the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe and you won’t see any change from the standard Cayenne. The entire upholstery is made with premium quality hand-stitched leather. The use of plastic is kept to a bare minimum and only metal, glass and leather adorn the entire interior. The front dash houses the A/C vents and the 12.4-inch Touchscreen infotainment setup.

The steering wheel is suede lined and is very comfortable to hold. Behind the steering wheel, the brand has retained the usual analog-digital combo look to grant a sporty character. The center has the RPM meter which is analog and the left and right side of the driver display are digital screens that display the various info about the car.
Seating is pretty comfortable and there is no complaint about the roominess of the entire cabin. Getting in the back seat is no different from the SUV Cayenne despite the sloping roofline. Now, the key thing here is that the rear seats have been lowered to make more headroom in the back seat to adjust to the sloping roof. The roof is perfectly spaced from average height passengers but tall people over 6 feet might find a bit of an issue. There is ample legroom in the back even with the front seat adjusted to the rearmost position. The features that adorn the interiors are:
The rear visibility is a big disappointment as the windshield doesn’t offer a lot of visibility while driving. The overall comfort of the car is great for long drives and for a spin around town as a daily driver. You can add various features to the Cayenne Coupe interiors to maximize the utility of the car. The following are the add-ons:
Investing in the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe, you can rest assured that the car will turn heads and make a statement when you arrive.
The infotainment system on the 2020 Cayenne Coupe is the same as the Cayenne SUV. A 12.4-inch touchscreen display. The other controls of the car also fitted in gloss black panel and have a touchscreen-like functionality to them. The display is very pleasing to the eyes and easy to operate. The following are the system features that it comes equipped with:
The touchscreen system does not give a haptic response which is a bummer but thankfully, the glass panel controls do offer a haptic and visual feedback. The default audio system offers a decent musical experience but people who take it as a priority can upgrade to either the Bose Surround Sound System or the flagship and immensely pricey Burmester 3D High-End Surround Sound System. The other upgrades that you can add to the system are:
You can add these features if you absolutely need them, otherwise, you will still be satisfied with the stock infotainment system of the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe.
Cargo compartment takes a hit when it comes to the Cayenne Coupe. The car offers a sizably smaller compartment as compared to the standard Cayenne SUV due to the sloping roofline. That being said, the car has enough space to fit two large suitcases, a baby buddy and two small suitcases which is adequate for a weekend getaway with your wife and two kids and each one having their own luggage.

The car also features under-the-floor storage in the cargo compartment which is for the spare tire. If you do not get the spare tire, you can use it as additional storage which is also quite big. The seats in the rear are 40/20/40 foldable and can drop down to provide additional space to the cargo compartment. While the seats don’t match the floor level, they are still comfortably low. So, with the seats down, you can have space for up to 3 large boxes and 10 small boxes.
The rear seating is for 2 people by default which means that the center area in the rear features cup holders, and mobile phone storage space. Door pocket compartments are also quite big with actual usable space and you can carry a big water bottle and daily travel supplies in each door. There is also an option of lowering the ride height of the car in the cargo compartment so that you can load stuff in the car easily.
The 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe design is the classic SUV in the front and the Coupe added to the back. Now, for everyone, it is either a hit or a miss. There is no in-between for this type of body structure. If you have apprehensions, then this car is not for you probably.
Having said that, the car has a very macho stance yet maintains the suave look of its SUV older brother. The front end is exactly the same as the Cayenne SUV with a blacked-out grille and the front parking assist camera in the center of it.

Move around to the side and you will see the Cayenne Coupe in its full glory. The roofline is appealing and adds a different dimension to the car. The rear door is different because of the shape of the back and the car rides high at 8.1 inches like the Cayenne.
Wheels are different than the Cayenne at 20-inch alloy rims as standard. These are coupled to 275/45 ZR20 all-weather tires in the front and 305/40 ZR20 all-weather tires in the back. The rear side of the car is where the magic has happened. The raking roofline features the biggest spoiler ever fitted on a production SUV Coupe. As compared to the Dual-Exhaust system on the Cayenne SUV, the 2020 Cayenne Coupe comes with a quad-exhaust system which adds a much more sportier look to it. The rear diffuser and other details stay pretty much the same as the standard Cayenne.
There are also various other features that the car comes equipped with:
Porsche offers a full customization program to upgrade and update your Cayenne Coupe to match your needs and requirements that you might ever need from the car.
A word of caution here, pick up the accessories only if you need it, otherwise, you might end up driving the price insanely high pretty quickly as the packages and upgrades are pricey.
Given the premium price you are paying for the car, there are some features that are absent but can be added during the customization stage. Nevertheless, Porsche has made sure that the 2020 Cayenne Coupe provides a safe and reliable experience that the brand is synonymous with from its years of car building.
The standard safety features that Cayenne Coupe’s safety is:
If that is not all, then features can also be added to the system during personalization:
While there are a few features that should be picked up, there are some features you can probably live without comfortably as the car comes with many features as standard.
Audi is the sibling brand to Porsche being under the umbrella of the Volkswagen Group. To compete with the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe, Audi has the 2020 Q8 which sits at the top of their table currently. With a bigger boot and similar engine, the car is much heavier than the Porsche. The Audi Q8 fuel economy also is lesser than the Cayenne Coupe. Hence, the Porsche Cayenne Coupe is a much more practical choice being offered at a lower price than its sibling.
Another fighter for supremacy in this segment is the BMW X6. The AWD xDrive variant costs about $11k lesser than the Cayenne Coupe and offers a better fuel economy, better engine performance, and a bigger cargo. Though the car does fall short on the looks as the huge kidney grille looks ugly as opposed to elegant. It all boils down to personal preference here as the BMW is a more practical choice between the two cars.
Coming from the house of the father of the automobile, the Mercedes AMG GLE 43 Coupe is the standard GLE Coupe on steroids. A mind-bogglingly powerful engine, marginally bigger cargo and hardly smaller stopping distance, the Mercedes barely makes it over the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. The Mercedes AMG GLE 43 Coupe is a good choice if you prefer the reliable and tried and tested the performance of Mercedes and do not want to tread into uncharted waters. The prices for the 2020 model are not released yet but are expected to be similar to the Cayenne Coupe. So, pick up the Porsche Cayenne Coupe if you want to take the road less taken.
Svelte design, German performance, and dominating presence, the traits that perfectly define the Porsche Cayenne Coupe which is making its debut in 2020. The car holds its own in an all-out competition from its siblings and segment contenders alike and gives them a run for their money. If you want the trusted experience of the Cayenne SUV in a drool worthy Coupe design, then the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is the match made in heaven for you.
