There is also an RS Tribute edition which is limited to 25 units for the 25th Anniversary of the first RS wagon RS 2 Avant.

The 4.0-liter V8 is smooth and powerful and pairs well with the smooth-shifting transmission that always picks the right gear - Edmunds

The 2021 Audi RS 6 Avant has a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that makes 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission which directs all the power to the famous Quattro AWD system. The Quattro system does give it unique driving dynamics. 

The 2021 Audi RS 6 does the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.5 seconds which is slower than the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S and the Porsche Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo. The Audi RS 6 will set a quarter-mile time of 11.5 seconds and with the throttle floored it will reach an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph, which can be increased to 190 mph when you equip the optional carbon-ceramic brakes.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo makes the most power with 620 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque, which shows its performance. The Mercedes-AMG E63 S makes the next most amount of power with 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, then comes the Audi RS 6 Avant.

The 2021 Audi RS 6 Avant gives EPA estimated fuel economy figures of 15 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and a combined mpg of 17. This is 1 mpg less in all criteria when compared to the Mercedes-AMG E-63 S, but the same as the Porsche Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo except on the highway where the 2021 RS 6 offers 1 mpg more.

The Audi RS 6 Avant comes with a fuel capacity of 19.3 gallons. The fuel tanks of the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S and the Porsche Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo are larger in capacity and in turn offer more range driving range than the 2021 RS 6 Avant.

The 2021 Audi RS 6 Avant comes with a seating capacity of 5 occupants. The interior features heated and ventilated 10-way power-adjustable RS sport front seats which also come with power-lumbar function. The interior upholstery in Valcona leather available in black with contrast stitch colors and Cognac Brown with seats getting perforated inserts.

Additional features include four-zone automatic climate control, aluminum twill structure interior trim with the option of carbon fiber and also ambient LED lighting The optional Multi-contour seat package will add heating and ventilated 18-way power-adjustable seats upholstered in Valcona leather in black. The 2021 RS 6 has a cargo capacity of 30 cu.ft. which is more than the Panamera but lesser than the AMG E 63 S

The 2021 Audi RS 6 has a dual-screen infotainment setup with a 10.1-inch touchscreen part of the dashboard and an 8.6-inch touchscreen below the above one. The 10.1-inch touchscreen runs on the MMI interface and runs all infotainment systems, the lower touchscreen helps manage the vehicle setting like climate control. The same setup is in the Audi RS Q8.

Infotainment features include navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Audi Phone box (wireless charger and signal booster), SiriusXM satellite radio, voice commands and a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D surround sound system with the optional 19-speaker version available. There is also a 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster called the virtual cockpit is standard.

Being a performance wagon, the 2021 Audi RS 6 Avant features an aggressive design and that is seen with the flared fenders, 21-inch wheels (22-inch available), honeycomb mesh grille with HD LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, RS-roof spoiler, RS-specific front and rear numbers, LED taillights with an animation sequence dual oval RS dual exhaust tips.

Audi offers it standard set of colors which include Nardo Grey. If you can spend the money, a custom color can be selected as well. Exterior packages and options include the Black Optics package which gets you black accents and 22-inch black wheels, Carbon Fiber optics packages does the same with 22-inch carbon-fiber wheels and Sport Exhaust with black finishings. 

In terms of dimensions, the Audi RS 6 Avant measures 196.7 inches in length which is 0.4-inches shorter in length than the Mercedes-AMG E63 S wagon and 2.1-inches longer than the Porsche Panamera S Sport Turismo. The 2021 RS 6 is taller by 2.2 inches than the Porsche and 0.6-inches than the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S.

The 2021 Audi RS 6 Avant has not yet been tested by the NHTSA or the IIHS. However, both organizations have tested the A6 Allroad which shares the platform and structure with the RS 6. The NHTSA has given the A6 Allroad a 5-star safety rating and the IIHS has given the A6 Allroad "good" overall score and the Top Safety Pick+, both of which are the best scores a car can get.

The 2021 Audi RS 6 Avant comes with many safety features like automated emergency braking, Audi Pre-sense front, top-view camera system, blind-spot monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and a few more. There is also the driver assistance package, the side assist package, and the night-vision assist with large animal and pedestrian detection.

2021 Audi RS 6 Avant vs 2021 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S comes with more power and is faster in the performance tests along with offering better mpg figures. Along with this, it does offer marginally more interior space and more cargo space than the Audi RS 6. That said, the Audi RS 6 does come with the Quattro system which offers one of the best driving dynamics in the industry and is $3,450 cheaper.

2021 Audi RS 6 Avant vs 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo makes more power and is faster than the Audi RS 6. It also matches the Audi in fuel economy giving 1 less on the highway, but a lot more in driving range. The cargo space of the Audi RS 6 is more than the Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo and is over $70,000 cheaper than the Porsche.

The Audi RS 6 Avant has good performance at any given time, even though when compared to its competition it is a bit less. However, it does have adequate space on the interior and cargo and does not lack technology in any way or form, making it worth every dollar of the $109,000 you spend on the 2021 RS 6 Avant.
