Audi makes it easy for there’s only one RS7 to choose from, and it starts with an MSRP of $114,000. It gets RS-tuned suspension, large optional Carbon ceramic brakes, and an RS-specific rear bumper. There are no optional packages as such, but the Black optics package gets you darkened exterior underline, 22-inch wheels, and a black grille. Audi's iconic Matrix-LED laser headlights with the dramatic light dance during ignition come standard. The interior is quite spacious too, and the RS7 gets the larger trunk space at 24.9 cu-ft in its class. 

Premium Valcona leather on all five seats, and leatherette covers on the instrument panel, door handles, and center console make up for the soft-touch cabin. The flared wheel arches on the side, with large, oval pipes at the adds to the RS7's sporty look. Standard on the second-generation Audi RS7 is the two-screen infotainment system at the center console, with haptic touch feedback. It comes with Audi’s PRIME subscription and supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The standalone trim of the 2021 Audi RS7 Sportback already loads in premium material that makes it worth the price tag. So if you're buying one, get it in the new Nardo Gray, with the Black Optics package for it to stand out in the parking lot. Rivals like the 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo and 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 have a higher cost price, and with optional packages can reach close to $200,000. Compared to that, the 2021 RS7 manages to tick all the boxes, for the price it comes for.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo aluminum-intensive V8 in the 2021 RS7 produces 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Power figures have increased by 40hp and 74 lb-ft of torque, from the last iteration and it also beats the modern Porsche Panamera with its power output figures.

The 8-speed automatic transmission is quick and spot-on, couple that to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drivetrain system, the RS7 feels extremely agile to drive. The 2021 Audi RS7 Sportback lands the second spot with its power output, while the mighty BMW M8 Gran Coupe leads the pack with its 600-peak horsepower. While, both the 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo and 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 fail to overpower the RS7.

However, 0-60 MPH timings are well within sub-four seconds ballpark with the new 2021 Audi RS 7, which at 3.5 seconds is quite quick. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 has a top speed of 193 mph and can reach 0-60MPH in just 3.1 seconds. The Gran Coupe is the least powerful in the lot but has quicker acceleration in this competition. ​

"Fuel economy in the 2021 Audi A7 is OK, but not great." - thecarconnection

The 2021 Audi RS7 with the 4.0-liter V8 and 8-speed automatic transmission has a fuel consumption rate of 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The 19.3-gallon fuel tank ensures a range of 425 miles on the highway.

The 48-volt mild-hybrid system on-board the 2021 RS7 is there to keep the electronics running and for smooth start/stop functions. The RS7 cannot drive on electric power only. Hence it uses both its power units to thrust it anywhere it treds.

The 2021 Audi RS7 Sportback is one of the least fuel-efficient vehicles in this section, while the Porsche Panamera Turbo is the most fuel-efficient.

Because the 2021 Audi RS7 is a single trim-only model, the cabin has been specced to the brim where hardly any stones have been left unturned. With a predominantly darker theme, the cabin feels sporty and executive, at the same time. With very few buttons on the dashboard and the steering wheel, the interior of the 2021 RS7 feels futuristic. Most of the controls are accessed via the two-MMI touch response screens that have been neatly placed at an angle keeping it driver-focused.

But the main focal point has to be a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit with its multiple viewing modes, that goes by the name of RS Performance 1, RS Performance 2, and RS Sport. These modes give very tailored information to the driver that keeps you focused and informed on the go. Information like lap timings, and engine, torque performances, etc, cater more for track days.

But if seen in comparison to the interior of the BMW M8, then the Audi feels a bit short-spaced. Part of the blame goes to the swooping roofline on the hatchback-styled RS7. Despite being, 83.4-inch wide with mirrors, the Audi RS7 feels a bit of push when trying to adjust five people in the second row. Also, the Audi RS7 has the most cargo space at 24.9 cu. ft. This is followed by the Porsche Panamera's cargo capacity. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 offers the least cargo space in this competition. 

Standard seats on the 2021 RS7 are upholstered by Valcona leather. For an additional cost of $1300, the seats can be upgraded for 18-way adjustable including lumbar support, memory functions, and heated and ventilated for both driver and front passenger. The 10.1-inch infotainment screen on the top is used to control the music and navigation functions. The 8.6-inch lower display gives access to climate controls, comfort, and convenience features. To top it off, the standard Bang and Olufsen Sound System with 3D sound make sure that the experience remains sublime at its sweetest spot. The 2021 Audi RS7 is 1.7-inch wider and 1.6-inch longer than the 2021 Audi A7. Below the Matrix-LED headlights, large side vents are unique to the RS7 and cannot be found in any other RS models.

The 2021 RS7 gets 21-inch cast-aluminum wheels as standard that can be upgraded to 22-inches. The RS7 also gets a standard all-wheel drive, which is further assisted by four-wheel steering on-board. The swiping lip spoiler neatly tucks in when idle, and extends at speeds above 60 mph. The 2021 Audi RS7 Sportback is the heaviest yet the shortest sedan in its competition. The 2021 BWM8 Gran Coupe’s with a wheelbase of 119.2, is the longest sedan in this lot. The Porsche Panamera Turbo’s lightweight helps in mileage scenarios, while at 56.8-inches the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 is the tallest sedan in this competition. Aside from that, some of the standout exterior features of the 2021 Audi RS7 are:

What makes the Audi RS7 stand above the Porsche Panamera Turbo in this case, is the sheer price difference. Both are no doubt, well-performing vehicles in their own regards. But the 2021 Panamera Turbo has a less stiff ride, compared to the Audi RS7’s, whereas both have adaptive air suspension. However, the Porsche Panamera Turbo outshines the Audi RS7 with its roomier interior, and unmistakeably Porsche treatment, with all its logos in the right place.

2021 Audi RS7 Sportback vs. 2021 Mercedes AMG GT 63

It’s on the inside, where the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 outshines the RS7, with its roomier cabin and extra legroom and headroom. Performance-wise, the AMG GT 63 is quicker than the RS7 and has a higher top speed, thanks to its 9-Speed Automatic transmission. The Mercedes-AMG is also lighter at 4447 lbs, whereas the 2021 Audi RS7 weighs 4938 lbs.

2021 Audi RS7 Sportback vs. 2021 BMW M8 Gran Coupe

The BMW M850i Gran Coupe with xDrive might be the least powered vehicle in this competition, provided its starting MSRP is lower than the 2021 Audi RS7. Having said that, the BMW M850i Gran Coupe is the fastest in this lot and can reach 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.

The 2021 Audi RS7 Sportback is a drop-dead gorgeous car. Its lust-worthy exterior and upscale interior evoke the price tag that it comes for. Starting from the standard premium Valcona leather treatment, to performance-enhancing Carbon Ceramic brakes and a V8 engine, the 2021 Audi RS7 is a serious vehicle. It has an engaging engine and an addictive engine note too. The new Nardo Gray makes the RS7 drool-worthy too. Aside from being the refined ride, it already was in its S7 state, the RS7 is a step up and is definitely worth all the money.
