Overall Rating
The regular Q8’s performance never really matched its low-slung, almost estate-like looks but that’s all changed with the new hot SQ8 with a big 4.0L V8 that promises 500 horsepower to all four wheels as standard. New with the SQ8 is a rear-sports differential which makes the SUV a lot more rear-biased for a sportier driving experience.
The 2021 Audi SQ8 is a carry-over model and features no major changes from last year. The SQ8 comes with a powerful 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 500hp and torque of 568lb-ft. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with the Quattro AWD system as standard. The 2021 Audi SQ8 is offered in two trims; the Premium Plus and Prestige. The 2021 Audi SQ8 is on sale at a base price of $89,100.
The 2021 Audi SQ8 can get from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. The 2021 SQ8 also features plenty of gadgets and technologies inside the cabin. it offers a modern cabin with a vast array of convenient features. The vehicle goes up against the BMW X6 M50i, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and the Jaguar F-Pace SVR. Here’s our take on the 2021 Audi SQ8 that is soon going to be on sale in the market.
Well, we recommend you opt for the Premium Plus trim and save on some cash as there isn’t any of a difference in terms of performance it’s only in terms of what both cars offer in features. SQ8 stands out in Dragon orange metallic color and even the Galaxy blue metallic for us..

SQ8 stands out in Dragon orange metallic color and even the Galaxy blue metallic for us. Investing in a used Audi SQ8 would be an amazing idea as the super SUV will lose a lot of value over the years and it will be quite a bargain at the end of the day. With that said, the Audi SQ8 is a fairly new car so don’t expect to find a ton of deals for used SQ8s. As per the data, no SQ8 has been recalled until now and a well-maintained Audi should last between 150,000 to 200,000 miles, so make sure the used car is under 70,000 miles.
"The 2021 Audi SQ8 has come along to change that with the perfect balance of performance and luxury." - Forbes
Audi SQ8 gets its grunt from a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 which churns about 500hp at 5000rpm and a massive torque of 568 lb-ft at 3000rpm. Audi offers Quattro AWD with a sports differential which can send up to 80% of torque to the rear wheels for sportier and livelier handling along with 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV also gets a 48-volt electromechanical anti-roll bar which pushes the wheels of the car in the opposite direction for better cornering and to control the body roll.

2021 Audi SQ8 has not been tested yet by the NHTSA or the IIHS. The IIHS has awarded the base model Audi Q8 with the 2021 Top Safety Pick award. We can assume that the SQ8 with more advanced features will be as safe as the regular Q8.
The 2021 Audi SQ8 vehicle is loaded with driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot assist, virtual real-time 360-degree camera, automatic emergency brakes, tire pressure monitoring system, traction control with collision brake assist, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, advanced air-bags protection with 6 airbags, anti-theft system with motion sensor, immobilizer and parking sensors- front and rear. With all these safety features one fairly assumes the car is quite safe and should be able to pass the crash test with good ratings undoubtedly.
BMW X6 M50i does pretty well against the Audi SQ8 especially in terms of performance. Being almost $10,000 cheaper than the SQ8, X6 M50i offers a bigger engine- 4.4 liters V8. BMW also does well in terms of acceleration and gas mileage, space offered, where the Audi lacks significantly. The standout feature Audi is its infotainment system which is loaded with features, easy to navigate with minimalistic buttons, and truly something Audi will boost about for some time.
Jaguar F-Pace SVR gives a tough competition to Audi's SQ8. F-Pace SVR is not only the cheapest amongst its rivals, but it also provides a much bigger engine than any in the segment which is a 5-liter Supercharged V8 and is also the fastest one here. The car does well against the Audi in gas mileage and also is the lightest vehicle amongst the 3. It provides more space than Audi. Apart from Audi's beautifully designed infotainment, F-Pace SVR is a clear and obvious choice here.
Audi SQ8’s purpose was to deliver a sporty performance with luxury and comfort, which it surely does with its 4-liter Twin-Turbo V8. It may not perform to levels of the Porsche Cayenne and Jaguar F-Pace SVR but it surely compensates you with its many features and tech. With a premium quality interior and a modern look overall, it is the best-looking car amongst its rivals. Altogether, the 2021 Audi SQ8 is a perfect package for anyone looking for a Sporty coupe-like SUV.
