The exterior also sees no major changes apart from a redesigned side mirrors, 2 new colors, and a few more minor updates.

The 2021 XT4 also sees no major changes to the interior, retaining the same design and 3 colors of the outgoing 2020 model. Many features like an 8" touchscreen infotainment system, 7-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, 7-speaker audio system, leatherette upholstery, and many more are standard for the higher trims. The safety and driver-assistance section also sees no changes apart from the availability of the driver-assistance packages to the base Luxury trim. This helps the trim to get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control, which were not available in the 2020 model.

Of the 3 trim configurations on offer, we would recommend you to get the Sport trim, which is available for a base MSRP of $41,190 for the FWD variant and $43,690 for the AWD variant. Coming in with a blacked-out exterior and a more sporty-looking interior, the 2021 Cadillac XT4 looks and feels better than the other trims. Adaptive front dampers and sporty seats are also added to this Sport trim. The 2021 Cadillac XT4, which is available for a base selling price of $36,990, retains the same 2L turbocharged inline-4 motor that is capable of putting out 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This motor comes mated to the standard 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission with multiple transmission modes and manual shift control with paddle shifter. Both FWD, as well as AWD drivetrains, are also offered. All of this helps the 2021 XT4 to get a maximum towing capacity of 2,500 lbs.

The 2021 XT4 also retains the same suspension and other mechanicals as the 2020 XT4, and hence the ride quality and driving dynamics remain unchanged. The car offered harsh ride quality due to the stiff suspension setup on offer, making it quite uncomfortable during slow city driving. Even though the front and rear braking rotor size hasn't been revealed by Cadillac yet, the 60-0 mph braking distance of 126 feet turned out to be impressive for the segment. This can be attributed to the many braking features that are offered like ABS with EBD, automated emergency braking system, ventilated rotors, brake assist, and many more. 

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 turned out to be the most powerful offering of the segment, which is followed by the 2021 BMW X1 and the 2021 Audi Q3 S Line, both of which gave out 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA offered a slightly lower 221 hp. However, when it comes to the 0-60 mph time, the 2021 BMW X1 and the 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA gave out the best in class 0-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds. The 2021 Audi Q3 S Line also turned out to be better than the 2021 XT4, as it offered a 0-60 mph time of 7 seconds.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 comes with no changes to the fuel efficiency front as it retains the same powertrain of the outgoing 2020 moniker. This subcompact luxury SUV offers a city gas mileage of 25 MPG and a highway gas mileage of 30 MPG. Combined gas mileage of 26 MPG is also offered.

However, if you opt for the AWD variants, which start at an MSRP of $38,490, it offers a slightly lower combined gas mileage of 24 MPG, which 2 MPG less than the FWD variants. With a fuel tank capacity of 15.9 gallons, the 2021 XT4's FWD variants also manage to give out a city range of 381.6 miles and a highway range of 477 miles.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 turned out to be quite decent in terms of gas mileage, coming in the second position, similar to the 2021 BMW X1. The 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA gave out the best in class combined gas mileage of 28 MPG. It also offered the highest tank range. However, the 2021 Audi Q3 S Line turned out to be the least fuel-efficient of the lot.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 comes with no changes to the interior design and features on offer, in comparison to the outgoing 2020 model. Apart from the addition of the optional leather upholstery for the base Luxury trim, which is available for an MSRP of $36,990, the 2021 XT4 turned out to be a decent place to be. Many features like dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and powered seats, keyless entry, ambient lighting, and many more are also offered with the higher trims. When it comes to the interior space, this 5-seater SUVs front row turned out to be quite spacious, with excellent shoulder room and legroom.

Even the rear seat of the 2021 Cadillac XT4 was quite excellent, especially in comparison to the rivals of the subcompact luxury crossover SUV segment. This SUV offered the best in class legroom of 39.5". The headroom and shoulder room are also enough for 3 passengers to sit comfortably. The cargo capacity of 22.5 cu ft was decent for the segment too, and hence this SUV can be an excellent tool for the freeways, as it can accommodate the luggage of all passengers. The infotainment duties of the 2021 XT4 are handled by an 8" touchscreen system and the audio is handled by a 7-speaker audio system.

This CUE infotainment system, which comes standard in all the trims, turned out to be quite intuitive to use, with minimal lags and a clean menu. It also gets many standard connectivity features like wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, AUX, USB, etc. When it comes to the audio system, it offered punchy bass and clear high and mid-frequency audio output. You can also opt for the 20" alloy wheels, however, this does affect the ride quality offered by this subcompact SUV. Subtle fender flares, blacked-out side cladding and pillars, and roof rails are also offered as standard. The rearview is highlighted with the LED taillights, dual exhaust, sharkfin antenna, and integrated rear spoiler. The best-in-class wheelbase also helps the car to give out excellent legroom.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 offered the best in class length, width, and wheelbase. However, when it comes to the ground clearance on offer, the 2021 BMW X1 and the 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA gave out a superior 7.2" and 7.1", respectively. 2021 Cadillac XT4 Vs 2021 BMW X1

Offered for sale at a base MSRP of $37,250, the 2021 BMW X1 turned out to be an impressive daily driver due to the excellent ride and handling, many standard interior & infotainment features on offer, and a superior acceleration on offer from the motor. The interior quality and refinement were also better than the 2021 XT4. However, the 2021 XT4 gets a more powerful motor and a longer list of optional features and packages.

2021 Cadillac XT4 Vs 2021 Audi Q3 S Line

The 2021 Audi Q3 S Line has a lot of things going for it. Even though the car offered lower performance and gas mileage than the 2021 XT4, it was more fun to drive. The ride quality was also much better. However, the interior space wasn't as good as the 2021 XT4. The 2021 Q3 S Line also misses out on quite a few interior and exterior features, most of which are offered as standard with the 2021 XT4. Nevertheless, the Audi Q3 S Line was slightly cheaper than the Cadillac, coming in for a base selling price of $36,000

2021 Cadillac XT4 Vs 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA

The 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA is much more premium inside out and came out to be the best in class performer too. Available for a base MSRP of $37,250, the 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA turned out to be a much superior daily driver, mainly due to the precise handling and excellent ride quality. Even the interior space was also as good as the 2021 XT4. The interior quality is in a separate league as well. Hence, the 2021 GLA should not be missed out on.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 has a lot of things going for it. Coming in from an American manufacturer, it could easily stack up against the more fierce competition from Germany in terms of performance, safety, and features on offer. However, the 2021 Cadillac XT4 offered mediocre ride quality. The cargo space and interior quality were also subpar in comparison to the rivals like the Q3 S Line and the X1. Hence, if you are alright with these issues, the 2021 XT4 should be a decent offering for the segment. However, we would recommend you to check out the used 2020 or 2019 XT4s as there aren't any major upgrades to the 2021 model.
