The 2021 Chrysler 300 remains quite unchanged from the outgoing 2020 model and only receives minor interior, safety, and exterior tweaks to make it inline with the growing competition from the likes of Nissan Altima, Dodge Charger, and Chevrolet Impala. Coming in at a base price of $30,445, the 2021 Chrylse 300 only sees a marginal bump of $1,000 from the 2020 model. It still retains the standard 3.6L V6 motor pumping out 292 hp, however, there is also an optional 5.7L HEMI V8 producing 363 hp.
The 2021 Chrysler 300 has arrived in the market with prices ranging between $30,445 to $36,370. The 300 Sedan from Chrysler comes in two different trims, namely Touring and Touring L, with the 300C model being removed from the lineup from this year onwards. With this 2021 update, Chrylser 300 managed to receive a marginal increase of $1,000, making it one of the most value-for-money full-size sedans on sale currently. However, the 300 still retains the same powertrain under the hood, which is 3.6L naturally aspirated V6 punching out 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.
Along with the two trims on offer with the 2021 Chrysler 300, it also comes with the top-of-the-line 2021 300S trim, which comes for an MSRP of $38,890, gets more interior, exterior, and safety features in comparison to the regular trims. There is also the HEMI V8 motor on offer with the 300S, which increases the cost to $42,350. With the fierce competition from the likes of 2021 Chevrolet Impala, 2021 Nissan Maxima, and 2021 Dodge Charger, we will see how the 2021 Chrysler 300 stacks up against the rivals in this in-depth review.
Of all the trims on offer, the Touring L trim seems to be the most value for money proposition of the lot due to the availability of many standard safety features like front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Along with that, the 2021 Chrylser 300 Touring L also receives an impressive list of interior and infotainment features like a 9-speaker audio system, leather upholstery, multi-level heating driver seats, electronic seating adjustability, and many more.

In comparison to the likes of the 2021 Chevrolet Impala and the 2021 Nissan Maxima, the 2021 Chrysler 300 is more spacious and offers more features for a much lower price tag.

"The 300 is built for smooth and powerful cruising, and it hits the mark."-Edmunds.com
Chrysler will continue with its two engine options. The standard 3.6 Liter Pentastar V6 engine produces 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and the massive 5.7 Liter HEMI V8 engine which makes a whopping 363 hp at 294 lb-ft of torque. Both the powerhouses are clubbed to the highly efficient 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission system.
The 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission decently fast and exceptionally smooth gearshifts along with sequential shift control and multiple transmission modes. A full-time AWD system is also on offer with all the trims for an additional $3,000.
The best performance numbers are delivered by the Chevrolet Impala which produces 305 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. The 2021 Nissan Maxima also came out to be slightly more powerful than the Chrysler 300, and that makes it quicker of the line, reaching 60 MPH in a lower 5.8 seconds. The Nissan Maxima is followed by the Chevrolet Impala in terms of 0-60 PH with a time of 6.1 seconds. The 2021 Chrysler 300 came to the third position in the outright acceleration times, which is followed by the 2021 Dodge Charger with 6.4 seconds.

The braking performance turned out to be the best for the Dodge Charger, taking just 110 feet to come to a complete standstill from 60 MPH. This is followed by the Chrysler 300 with a distance of 120 feet, which is also quite respectable. Apart from that, the 2021 Chrysler 300 is more or less similar to the outgoing model when it comes to the overall driving dynamics. Though this is not the most fun to drive sedan for the segment due to the soft suspension setup on offer, it is one of the most comfortable places to be in since it soaks up all the road irregularities with ease.
In terms of fuel, the 2021 Chrysler 300 surprisingly offers a decent combined efficiency of around 23 MPG despite its heavy curb weight and massive engine under the hood. This full-size sedan also gave out a modest 19 MPG on the city along with an impressive 30 MPG on the highway. The ones equipped with the optional AWD system would get 1 MPG lower in the combined gas mileage section.

The 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission does a wonderful job in keeping the engine at lower revs, especially in the ECO mode, which helps in churning out respectable fuel efficiency numbers. Even though we don't have the official gas mileage numbers provided by the HEMI V8 motor, we expect it to be quite underwhelming, due to it offering subpar efficiency in the other cars equipped with the same motor as the Charger.
Though the 2021 Chrysler 300 offers excellent combined gas mileage of 23 MPG and a combined range of 425 miles, the 2021 Nissan Maxima managed to dethrone the 300 with a slightly better-combined mileage of 24 MPG, which equated to a slightly higher tank range of 432 miles. However, the 2021 Chevrolet Impala came out as the least fuel-efficient offering of the segment, with gas mileage of 22 MPG.
"The interior design is aging, and not gracefully. The Kia Cadenza simply outclasses the 300 in this area."-Caranddriver.com
Coming in at a base price of $30,445, the 2021 Chrysler 300 comes filled to the brim with many cabin features and plush black and beige interior color combination. For added comfort and opulence, the front seats get heating as well as a ventilating feature along with 8-way power adjustments, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable steering wheel, leather-wrapped dashboard and door pads, 60/40 split rear seats, and many more as standard. Optional packages like Interior Appearance Group by Mopar, which comes for $475, makes it an even more comfortable place to be in as well.
The below table clearly depicts the spacious cabin of the Chrysler 300 with a comfortable seating capacity of five. when it comes to space on offer, the 2021 Chrysler 300 and 2021 Dodge Charger cannot be rivaled by the competitors like the 2021 Impala and 2021 Maxima due to the unmatched headroom and shoulder room on offer. However, the front seat legroom turned out to be lower than expected.

Being the widest and highest of the full-size sedan segment, the 2021 Chrysler 300 looks quite imposing when on the roads. Along with that, it also offers the highest wheelbase of 120.2-inch, making it quite spacious inside. The 2021 Dodge Charger, which is also based on the Chrylser 300, offers a similar proportion from the outside. However, both the 2021 Nissan Maxima and 2021 Chevrolet Impala turned out to be the lightest of the segment, coming in at 3,559 lbs and 3,867 lbs, respectively.
Some of the exterior features on offer with the 2021 Chrysler 300 are:
The 2021 Chrysler 300 secured a decent 4-star overall crash safety rating in the NHTSA crash test. In the IIHS crash test, the 2021 Chrysler 300 came out impressively well with a good rating in most of the subsections too. However, it was not chosen as the top safety pick by the organization.
The latest lineup of the Chrysler 300 comes with many advanced safety features and driver assistance systems, many of which are standard in comparison to the outgoing 2020 model. This full-size sedan comes with many safety features like a Tire-Pressure monitoring system, Driver inflatable knee-bolster airbag, ParkView rear backup camera, automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert system, and many more.
Unlike the 300 the 2021 Chevrolet Impala has seen some significant improvement from the past. Due to an eye-catching exterior design with chrome bars and a swooping roofline, Chevy comes off like a more modern design compared to the 300's boxy architecture. The Impala is also slightly more powerful in comparison to the base engine on offer with the 300. However, the Impala is not as spacious as the 300. Also, the Impala is more expensive too, coming in at $36,720, which is more than $6,000 in comparison to the base Touring trim of the 300.
2021 Nissan Maxima features better performance numbers and is also the lightest in the segment. On the other hand, the Chrysler 300 offers similar power numbers but is considerably heavier too. The exterior of the Chrysler 300 looks much more premium and imposing than the more modern looking Maxima. The cabin of both sedans are at par with comfortable seating and premium material selection, but Chrysler’s infotainment system puts it above the Nissan. The 2021 Maxima is also considerably more expensive, coming in at $34,450 for the base trim, in comparison to the $30,445 price tag of Chrysler 300.
The exterior aesthetics of both the sedans are similar with massive alloy wheels, imposing front end, and striking side profile. Though the 2021 Charger is more on the sportier side, Chrysler 300 oozes elegance. In terms of performance, both full-sized sedans get a similar sized engine and similar power output. And since both are FCA products, reliability figures will be on par too. Coming in at a base price of $29,995, the 2021 Dodge Charger is also slightly less expensive than the Chrysler 300.
If you want to get your hands on a premium-looking sedan with loads of standard amenities, promising performance, decent reliability, and spacious cabin, all at a budget price tag, the new 2021 Chrysler 300 are the one to ponder upon. The foundation of the car has been kept similar for over a decade with minor tweaks and refinements. The latest lineup gets updated infotainment features with a smoother interface and is also equipped with advanced safety features and driver assistance for a hassle-free driving experience. Overall, the 2021 Chrysler 300 sets a new style benchmark with a good balance of luxury and comfort.
