Overall Rating
Packed with a 3.6L V6 engine that touches the 287 hp mark on paper, the Chrysler Voyager is an entry level minivan that is based on the much celebrated Chrysler Pacifica.
Affordable pricing, standard performance from the V6 engine, and enough space for the 7 passengers inside the cabin make the 2021 Chrysler Voyager the perfect Minivan to go in for. For the 2021 Model year, the Voyager is made available in two trim offerings. The base trim L is priced at an MSRP of $27,860 and the high-end trim, LX trim at $30,570.
The 2021 Chrysler Voyager minivan will retain features from last year, but there will be some extra focus on the vehicle’s safety features. The 2021 Chrysler Voyager will be competing against the likes of the Kia Sedona, the Toyota Sienna, and the Honda Odyssey.
The Chrysler Voyager consists basically of the two base trims of the Chrysler Pacifica, and as such, there is not much room for the dilemma in selecting your model. The entry-level Voyager L model is really light on your pocket and gets you a number of the basic requirements. But if you can spare a few thousands more, we would recommend the LX model.
The Voyager LX adds a number of comfort and convenience features to those of the base model, like power seat adjustments and lumbar adjustments for the driver, second-row captain’s chair, and even a SiriusXM Satellite Radio. So getting a bit of extra comfort at only a few thousand bucks more does not seem to be a bad option.

"This renamed and de-contented Chrysler minivan covers the basics but it sure doesn't pamper." - Car and Driver
The 2021 Chrysler Voyager will have two trim models in its lineup - the base L, followed by the premium LX. All the models get similar mechanical features and specs including the same engine configuration. While the 2021 Voyager L is likely to have an entry price of about $27,860, the LX trim may bear a sticker price of around $30,570. Over and above the MSRP is a destination charge of $1495.
The base L trim starts at quite a low price point of around $27,860 and offers decent entertainment and convenience features. The LX model of the Voyager makes your ride a bit more convenient and comfortable with the additions like 8-way power seat adjustments for the driver, lumbar adjustments, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, etc. It has a starting price tag of around $30,570.

"Mechanically, the Voyager is identical to the Pacifica, using the same 287-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels." - Car And Driver
The 2021 Chrysler Voyager gets an engine spec of a 3.6-Litre Pentastar V-6 in both of its trims. The engine is configured to a TorqueFlite 9-speed automatic transmission and makes a maximum of 287 HP and 262 lb-ft. of torque. Both the trims of the 2021 Chrysler Voyager come with an FWD as standard. Hence, there is no powertrain or drivetrain difference in spite of the $3000 difference between the L and LX trim.
The 2021 Chrysler Voyager with its 3.6L V6 engine is quick enough to get the van from 0 to 60 MPH in about 7.2 seconds, while it makes a quarter-mile run in about 15.1 seconds. Though we cannot expect the Voyager to be among the fastest, these numbers are quite decent for a minivan. The front strut suspension and rear trailing arm suspension further make the ride quite smooth even when accelerating quickly.

Voyager’s 3.6L V6 is an extremely potent and powerful engine for a minivan in its segment. Only the 2021 Honda Odyssey gets a better one. However, both these vehicles have a higher Price-to-Power ratio, $106 per HP for the Sienna and $109 per HP for the Odyssey than the Voyager’s $94 per HP. Overall, in terms of top-speed it is the 2021 Voyager that ranks one, with an offering of a max speed of 142 MPH. Kia Sedona follows closely.
The vehicle uses Disc brakes for all four wheels. It gets to a stop from 70 MPH in about 165 feet, which is very competitive, and matches most of its rivals in the segment. The Honda Odyssey, however, returns some of the best numbers in this regard, with a 6.6-sec 0-60MPH run and a 125ft of 60-0MPH stopping distance. The Toyota Sienna is marginally ahead of the Voyager, whereas the Kia Sedona fails to catch up
"The Chrysler vans both earn EPA estimates of 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway." - Car and Driver
The Voyager’s engine configuration and specs make way for some decent fuel economy. The minivan makes around 19 MPG on city roads and 28 MPG on the highways. On a combined level, the mileage is pegged at 23 MPG. The 2021 Chrysler Voyager uses regular unleaded fuel, and its tank has a holding capacity of up to 19 gallons, allowing it to travel for quite a long distance on a full tank.

Voyager is well ahead of most of its rivals for the sheer number of miles it can go without visiting a gas station. While the Kia Sedona with the same gas tank capacity makes up for its inferior mileage. The 2021 Toyota Sienna offers a hybrid drivetrain for the 2021 model year and hence has some insane offering for the gas mileage front. On the other hand, the Odyssey has the biggest gas tank in class with a fine range to offer its buyer.
"Voyager Interior: Good but Not Great" - Cars.USnews
The Voyager’s interior cannot be classified as among the most high-quality ones, but it certainly serves the purpose, one can't expect much in a minivan that costs $27,860. The 2021 Voyager seats 7 persons in three rows. The front seats are quite comfortable with the seat and headrest adjustments. The second-row bench or available quad seats leaves a wide aisle room for getting to the rear. The manual tilt and telescopic steering wheel make driving quite convenient.
The power door locks, keyless entry, and power windows with express up-down control are also quite useful. For small-item storage, you get front and rear cupholders, a locking glove box, as well as a few other cubbies scattered throughout the cabin. There are also two 12V DC power outlets for your devices. The LX model also gets a number of other available options like an overhead DVD player, Stow ‘n’ Place roof rack, as well as Chrysler’s Cold Weather package.

The 2021 Chrysler Voyager uses the UConnect 4 infotainment system, which is one of the most user-friendly among its competitors. The system is easy to use, and quite responsive starts up fast and is efficient. A standard 7-inch touchscreen display allows a smooth control of the infotainment and has impressive high-resolution graphics. The infotainment system includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, integrated voice command with Bluetooth, and more.
Further, you also get AUX and USB input, SiriusXM AM/FM, voice text reply, as well as an available roof-mounted DVD player For keeping you entertained, there is the standard 6-speaker system with quite a decent sound quality. However, while you can get steering wheel-mounted audio controls in the LX model, there are no rear-seat audio controls available. Thus at a base price of just $27,860 for the L trim and a price of $30,570 for the LX trim, the Chrysler Voyager minivan offers a ton of features.
"Bad news, if you’re a fan of the refreshed Pacifica's looks" - Motortrend
From the outside, the 2021 Chrysler Voyager may resemble any other minivan in its class. It is decently styled and has a simple design, but nothing to call it gorgeous. The vehicle looks like a typical minivan from all sides. Having said that, the galvanized steel-aluminum body looks quite good in the velvet red pearl or granite crystal metallic coat colors. We guess the new oceanic blue metallic would also suit well to it. It is just too stunning for a price of $27,860.
The black grille in the front and the Voyager liftgate badge at the back look fine. The real appeal, however, lies with the 17-inch alloy wheels. Besides, the daytime running lights, halogen headlights, rear lip spoiler, the inbuilt roof antenna, or the available roof rack enhance the van’s appearance pretty much. Borrowing its looks from a passenger van, the Chrysler Voyager is identical to the Chrysler Pacifica. In fact, the Voyager is based on the Pacifica.

Voyager has a bit less ground clearance than its rivals, which can either be a plus point or a negative, depending on how you use the van. Dimension-wise, the Voyager is quite similar to the other minivans in the segment. However, it gets the longest wheelbase and maximum roof height compared to the competition. At 4411 lbs the Kia Sedona is the heaviest of them all, with some decent height and width. However, The Kia Sedona is the shortest in class.
"The 2021 Voyager earned a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but it wasn't named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)" - Car and Driver
Chrysler has focused intensely on the Voyager’s safety. And the result is witnessed by the Vehicle’s excellent performance in the very first year of its launch - it received 5 stars safety ratings from NHTSA. The IIHS has also allotted good safety ratings to Voyager in most aspects. It has an outstanding record of no recalls and no complaints as per NHTSA.
Chrysler claims that the Voyager’s body comprises 72% of high-strength steel. This is greatly complimented by the list of active and passive safety features that the minivan gets. The 2021 Chrysler Voyager will further see additions being made to the available SafetyTec Group, which will not include Passenger Automatic Emergency Braking and Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus. The safety features offered are:
The Odyssey is one of the best options in its segment, and the minivan is hailed for its superior interior quality and decent performance. The Voyager on the other hand boasts of its low price tag as well as matching engine power and performance. The Voyager also gets a number of features and equipment, which the Odyssey lacks. But still, the Odyssey is generally considered a better minivan for its extremely well-laid-out interior and comfortable seats.
The Toyota Sienna has some premium traits as compared to the Voyager. It has a more powerful engine configuration, a better-quality interior, as well as good ride quality. But it is not that practical as the Voyager for its interiors. The Voyager is much lightweight and a lot cost-effective. Moreover, the Voyager is equipped with a number of features and technologies, which is quite impressive considering the price range. The Sienna, however, excels in terms of its reliability, gas efficiency, and dependability.
The Chrysler Voyager is certainly turning out to be one of the best in its class, mainly because of its budget-friendliness, being priced at a base MSRP of $27,860. It is spacious, practical, has a decent interior, and is also good to drive. Although it does not possess a long list of standard features like the Chrysler Pacifica, the low MSRP makes up for that. So, if you are looking for a minivan in the category, you can choose the 2021 Chrysler Voyager for getting some great value for your money.
