About 2021 Dodge Charger

3.6

Overall Rating

The Charger also gets a capable RWD, which further enhances the driving dynamics and performance; this said, the Charger will come with a well-built, and the prices will be reasonable as well. The interior is also well-made with good quality materials in the cabin and comfortable seating both in the front and back. A naturally aspirated V6 engine is the powerhouse that runs the show in this sedan. The Charger is such an optimum vehicle that various police departments use the sedan as patrol cars.

Starting at just $29,995, the 2021 Dodge Charger sedan offers rear-wheel drive, an efficient base V6, and powerful choices of V-8 engines. Dodge's muscle car also offers more popular options such as all-wheel drive and modern technology including FCA's infotainment and diverse safety aids. The 2021 Dodge Charger lineup includes eight distinct models and five different engines, including - the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 with up to 300 horsepower on the Charger SXT, SXT AWD, GT, and GT AWD models.

The Charger competes in the ever-shrinking segment of full-size sedans along with the platform-mate Chrysler 300, Toyota Avalon, and the Kia Stinger. The 2021 Charger's high ranks in the muscle cars list also stem from its styling packages, wide-body kits, attractive mechanical equipment, and affordable pricing. Dodge offers a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with 370 horsepower on R/T models, and the naturally aspirated 392 HEMI V-8 with 485 horsepower, offering the most horsepower per dollar of any sedan on Scat Pack models. The 717-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI SRT Hellcat V-8 and new-for-2021, 797-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-output V-8 on the $78,595 SRT Hellcat Redeye.

Considering the package that the Dodge Charger comes with, this muscle car turns out to be a great choice in the segment. The car gets a great design language, comfortable and decent interiors, and a powerful engine gearbox combo. The driving experience of the Charger is worth mentioning here, and with the 2021 update, it will get even better. Overall features available with the car are high, and the package is more value for money than any of its rivals.

Pros

Horsepower, I like how loud it is

Cons

People trying to race me, The gas mileage

I love my scatpack, everybody always compliments my car it’s loud fast and teal 🔥🔥🔥 I need to do more work on it to increase the horsepower but it’s definitely a car everybody wishes they could own! The only thing I don’t like is it takes premium only gas & it burns gas like crazy I only average 9 miles per gallon!

2021 Dodge Charger Review

Pros

  • Outstanding Performance
  • Value for money proposition
  • Large and user-friendly Uconnect Infotainment system
  • Trim levels and graphics packages allow for plenty of personalization

Cons

  • Cheap plastic used inside for cost reduction
  • Sloping roofline impedes visibility and backseat access
  • Not very fuel-efficient, especially large V8s

The Charger also gets a capable RWD, which further enhances the driving dynamics and performance; this said, the Charger will come with a well-built, and the prices will be reasonable as well. The interior is also well-made with good quality materials in the cabin and comfortable seating both in the front and back. A naturally aspirated V6 engine is the powerhouse that runs the show in this sedan. The Charger is such an optimum vehicle that various police departments use the sedan as patrol cars.

Overview

Pricing and Features
6.5/10

The rear-drive 2021 Dodge Charger SXT's price starts at $29,995, with the GT going for a selling price of $31,995 (MSRP). The other 2021 Charger grades including the R/T, the lowest-priced Charger with a V8, begins at $36,995. For the Dodge Charger Scat Pack, you will have to shell out $41,095, or $46,595 for the Widebody. The 717-horsepower SRT Hellcat is the performance bargain, starting at $69,995. Now, the new SRT Hellcat Redeye comes in at $78,595. A destination charge of $1,495 is excluded.

Considering the low price tag, the 2021 Dodge Charger comes out as a rather well-rounded package that provides true value for your money, without compromising on the driver's delight facet. Both the trims of the 2021 Dodge Charger, SXT and GT are mechanically identical to each other and only differ on the basis of features available onboard. Both the trims are offered with a standard RWD drivetrain, with an optional AWD on offer.

Buying Advice

Among the two available trim options for the 2021 Dodge Charger, the GT is clearly a wiser choice to go for. It doesn't increase a lot in MSRP from the base SXT, adding in a lot more features such as the Performance hood, side sills, and fascias, which lend the car an all the way more muscle-car vibe.

Engine and Performance
8.0/10

"Horsepower ranges from 292 ponies all the way up to 797 with a few options in between. Styling, power and price are really the main big reasons to buy a Charger." - AutoBlog.

The 2021 Dodge Charger gets the same mighty 3.6-L V6 engine under the hood as the 2020 Challenger. The SXT and GT models get a strong 3.6-L V6 engine that churns out 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of peak torque (300 hp in the SXT AWD and both GT variants). This engine comes mated to an 8-Speed AT and has an option between an RWD or AWD drivetrain. The engine is very refined, and the power kicks in from the lower RPMs. Performance, too, is excellent, and enthusiasts will love pushing this engine to its maximum limits.

The mighty 3.6-L-V6 engine accelerates the 2021 Dodge Charger from 0-60 mph in just 6.4 secs. The 2021 Charger is capable of running the quarter-mile in only 14.8 seconds, which proves its American Muscle stature. Dodge has electronically limited the Charger SXT and GT with a maximum top speed of 155MPH, which isn’t bad in everyday life. Even the Chrysler 300 offers a slightly better 0-60 acceleration time compared to the Charger, owing to its lighter curb weight. The 2021 Toyota Avalon is the second fastest with a 0-60 mph time of dot 6 seconds.

The feedback from the EPS (steering) is tremendous, and the driver does feel an instant connection with the vehicle. Push the car into the corners, or drive it in a sedate manner, the engine will always have optimum performance output for every situation.  All four wheels on the 2021 Dodge Charger come with ventilated disc brakes along with many features such as ABS and EBD to enhance the overall braking capabilities of the vehicle. The vehicle comes equipped with 12.6-inch front and 12.6-inch rear brake rotors. Overall, the 2021 Dodge Charger performs decently well in the braking department.

5.5/10

Buyers of this non-luxury muscle car segment rarely consider the fuel economy figures. However, the EPA fuel economy figures delivered by the 2021 Dodge Charger are at par with its rivals. The Charger SXT does 19 miles to a gallon in city usage while out on the highway, can do about 30 miles to a gallon. Sum up these figures and you get a combined mpg of 23, which is not at all bad for a ride that's considered a purist's delight and comes fitted with a potent V6 mill.

The 2021 Dodge Charger's fuel tank can store up to 18.5 gallons of gasoline at a time. Only the homebred brands (Dodge and Chrysler) offer such an immense fuel tank capacity.

The Avalon lives up to its fuel-efficient image despite being one of the most powerful vehicles in the segment.

"Retro hardly ever looks this good." - The Car Connection.

The Dodge Charger comes with a handsome design with a bold and aggressive-looking front, which gives it the best road presence in the segment. The side profile is smooth and sharp, while the rear looks elegant and classy. The signature tail lamp design gives it a unique character.

The currently outgoing model of the Dodge Charger looks menacing and has a massive road presence. The 2021 model will feature a similar design language as no significant updates are expected to take place for the 2021 Dodge Charger. However, the 2021 model will now get 20-by-8-inch Satin Carbon wheels as standard.

2021 Dodge Charger Vs 2021 Chrysler 300

The Chrysler 300 is known as a very comfortable and luxurious vehicle. The 300 gets a spacious cabin as the 2021 Charger but comes with a very appealing design language. The Chrysler 300 is one of the fastest cars in the segment and gets a highly practical cabin. However, the Chrysler 300 is more of a take on the luxurious aspect rather than the sporty character. So if you need a quick, comfortable, and fun to drive vehicle, the Charger is slightly better than the Dodge.

2021 Dodge Charger Vs 2021 Kia Stinger

The 2021 Stinger comes with a comfortable, practical, and highly equipped cabin but that comes at an extra cost of almost $3000 over the price of the 2021 Charger SXT. The Kia Stinger gets turbocharged engines and better MPG ratings. However, the Stinger is not as good as the 2021 Dodge Charger when it comes to driving dynamics and traditional V6 rumble.

2021 Dodge Charger Vs. 2021 Toyota Avalon

Toyota Avalon has always been one of the most reliable and practical vehicles of this segment. In terms of pricing, the Charger is the least-expensive sedan in the segement, where the Avalon's base price is $5000 ahead of the Charger. The Toyota gets a comfortable cabin, fun to drive nature, powerful powertrain options, and in addition to all this, also gets one of the best design cues, which simply give it a distinctive character.
