About 2021 Ford Bronco

3.9

Overall Rating

Rest assured, the Ford Bronco in its sixth generation is a complete packaged steal. Even if the 2021 Bronco does not house a V8 engine, it still gets a similar if not moire potent 2.7L twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which is efficient enough to give the other SUVs in the market a run for their money.

The much-anticipated Bronco nameplate is back in a Ford SUV in the form of the 2021 Ford Bronco. The 2021 Bronco is available in 3 body styles and 2 powertrain options, one being the mild 2.3L EcoBoost unit and the other a more potent 2.7L V6. To put your mind at ease, the 2021 Bronco starts at a base price of $28,500. Ford is offering a variety of customization options with the Bronco including a slide-out tailgate option, that will arrive later next year.

Bronco's little brother -  The 2021 Bronco Sport starts at just $26,660. The Bronco gets the latest SYNC-equipped infotainment setup and a slew of driver assistance and safety features as well. With booking slots made available for the 2021 Bronco, all that is left to see is how it fares against the obvious choices of the Jeep Wrangler and the Toyota 4Runner in this off-road-focused SUV segment

Now no matter which trims you choose, we assure you for the price it is being offered, it will be a fully-fledged steal. Nevertheless, we’d recommend the OUTER BANKS trim with an optional 2.7L engine because this is where the luxury quotient kicks in heated front seats. It costs $38,995, and for that price range, it provides the best value for the features proposition.

2021 Ford Bronco Review

Pros

  • Supreme off-roading capabilities
  • A large number of personalization options available
  • Potent 2.7L V6 engine
  • 2-door and 4-door versions

Cons

  • No V8 engine option
  • Slightly more expensive than the Wrangler

Rest assured, the Ford Bronco in its sixth generation is a complete packaged steal. Even if the 2021 Bronco does not house a V8 engine, it still gets a similar if not moire potent 2.7L twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which is efficient enough to give the other SUVs in the market a run for their money.

Pricing and Features
7.0/10

"There's something here for everyone." - Cnet.com

The 2021 Ford Bronco is available in over 7 trims, and moving up the ladder, not only do the prices increase from $28,500 for the BASE trim to over $63,500 for the top-of-the-line FIRST EDITION trim but we also see the feature list taking a turn for the better.

Ford has strategically placed these trims, with the first five trims, from BASE to BADLANDS having a 2.3L engine from Ford Escape as standard, whereas the WILDTRAK and FIRST EDITION trims both having a 2.7L V6 unit as standard.

Engine and Performance
7.5/10

"G.O.A.T.-Worthy Performance" - Motortrend.com

The 2021 Ford Bronco with its 2.7L twin-turbocharged V6 engine punches a maximum of usable 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The engine delivers the power in a smooth and linear manner, even when it is backed with multiple turbos.

On open roads too, Bronco's competent 7-Speed Getrag manual transmission takes care of the acceleration quotient. As such it is reported that the 2021 Ford Bronco takes just 6.0 secs to complete the 0-60 MPH sprint.

The 2021 Ford Bronco also has an impressive 7 driver selectable drive modes that help it achieve this feat. These drive modes include Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Sand, Mud/Ruts, and Rock Crawl setups. A hotly anticipated Sasquatch off-road-focused package also makes its way into the 2021 Ford Bronco trim lineup. It features the HOSS (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension).

The Jeep Wrangler, with its equally potent 3.6L NA V6, surely packs in some impressive figures, for the price point of $31,795 for which it is offered. Moreover, the Rubicon, Wrangler's greatest off-roading kit package is priced just above the $50,000 mark, whereas the Bronco's top-of-the-line FIRST EDITION trim goes well above the $60,000 mark.

"The Bronco looks like a Tonka soaked in growth hormone" - Automobilemag

Ford is yet to reveal the entire spec sheet for the 2021 Ford Bronco, which includes the MPG figures. But as the Bronco borrows the 2.3L EcoBoost engine from the Ford Ranger, it is reported that the 2021 Ford Bronco is set to deliver similar gas mileage ratings of 21 miles to the gallon in the city and about 26 miles to the gallon out on the highway, if not more.

Moreover, with the G.O.A.T driving modes and the efficient AWD setup backing the Bronco up, we expect more flexibility in terms of its fuel efficiency. The huge 18.0-gallon fuel tank shows us that despite whatever the figures might say, the 2021 Bronco can cover far longer distances between fuel stops, which is saying a lot.

From the table above, it is clear that the 2021 Ford Bronco, with its shared powertrain, clearly scores the home-run this time around. Jeep Wrangler follows thereafter. Furthermore, the 2021 Toyota 4Runner scores pretty well in the fuel-tank aspect but has a hard time keeping up with the rest in terms of MPG figures.

Interior

"It emulates the old-school vibe and off-road pedigree of its iconic mid-1960's predecessors" -Caranddriver

Ford surprises us with an interior setup that is as sumptuous as it is functional. The Bronco gets an extended wiggle area when compared to its fiercest competitor, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler, which translates to better passenger space, in terms of legroom.

Furthermore, as the roofline further rises in the back, the headroom for the rear passengers won’t be a problem. Infotainment-wise, a 12-inch LCD touchscreen system takes care of your entertainment needs.

It is molded in a way that takes convenience and vitality to the next level. It gets integrated with FordPass Performance App, which also includes immensely detailed map data to help you on those tough off-road journeys.

The 2021 Toyota 4Runner clearly takes the cake here in terms of outright trunk capacity. 2021 Bronco loses out big time in terms of seating 3 average-sized adults adequately in the rear, because of the insignificant shoulder space in the back. Some of the creature comforts included in the 2021 Ford Bronco are-

  • Waterproof marine-grade interior upholstery
  • Integrated grab handles in the dashboard
  • First-Gen inspired instrument cluster
  • Rubberized flooring with drainplugs

The 2021 Ford Bronco is offered in two styles, a 2-door, and a 4-door model, and with a wide variety of customization options to personalize the SUV according to your own needs. Those sharp and clean lines are a sight for sore eyes. The signature round headlights with the dark-appointed grille with Bronco inscribed along, highlight the front end of the car.

Both the roof and the doors can be removed apart according to your preference. Further kit customizations to the exterior front are possible as you go up the trim level of the Bronco. For instance, there is a Black Diamond, which brings in skid plates and rock rails to the mix. Furthermore, you can opt for 35-inch off-roading tires with the Sasquatch package, among other things.

2021 Ford Bronco vs Jeep Wrangler

The Wrangler is cheaper than the Bronco, and also hosts a less powerful engine. Both of these SUVs have a lot of features to offer in their arsenal, but the Bronco inches a bit forward with its customization options. That’s not all if Jeep brings in the V8 for 2021, the tide might turn toward the Wrangler, but until then, it’s Bronco all the way.

2021 Ford Bronco vs Toyota 4Runner

The 2021 Bronco is a pure offroad SUV, the 4Runner, on the other hand, seems like a more practical daily-driving SUV. The 2021 4Runner has the best interior dimensions, and the looks to match it as well. All in all the Toyota 4Runner feels responsible on the road, whereas the 2021 Bronco is aggressive in its approach.

How fast is the 2021 Ford Bronco from 0-60 MPH?
