The 2021 Lexus RC F is a compact performance coupe that is offered in a single trim configuration for a base MSRP of $65,975. Along with that, the 2021 RC F also comes in two other variants, namely Track Edition (reviewed separately) and the Fuji Speedway Edition, both of which are the track-ready versions of the grand tourer base RC F. However, all of them get the same 5L naturally aspirated V8 motor mated to the 8-speed automatic transmission, putting out 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. When it comes to the exterior, it sees no changes to the design and features, retaining the 2 colors, automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs, 19" alloy wheels, etc.

The interior also sees no design changes and comes with the standard full-black with silver fiber combination. However, Android Auto and memory front seats are standard with this 2021 iteration. Other interior and infotainment features like leather upholstery, heated and powered seats, 7" infotainment system, 10-speaker audio system, etc are standard, similar to the outgoing 2020 model. When it comes to the safety front, the 2021 RC Fs all variants come with the Lexus Safety System +, which provides all the much-needed safety and driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automated emergency braking, etc.

The 2021 Lexus RC F comes in a single trim configuration for a base MSRP of $65,975. However, there is also a Track Edition and Fuji Speedway Edition, both of which rises the price to close to $100,000. These editions offer more impressive performance and acceleration, making it a capable track car. However, we would recommend you to get the base RC F, as it comes loaded with features like 19" alloy wheels, Lexus Safety System +, leather upholstery, automatic LED headlights, 7" infotainment, and the 10-speaker audio system. It is also a more comfortable daily driver.

The 2021 Lexus RC F sports coupe dials up the fun while still being affordable. - Thecarconnection

The 2021 Lexus RC F comes with the same 5L naturally aspirated V8 motor that did the duty in the outgoing 2020 model, giving out the same 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. This motor comes mated to the 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, which has multiple transmission modes and manual shift mode with paddle shifters. The RWD drivetrain is standard too, with no option for the AWD drivetrain.

With double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension with coil springs on all four corners, the ride quality of the 2021 RC F turned out to be quite pliant. As a result, the car rides flat, during both slow city driving and highway driving. However, it is not the most fun to drive of the lot, as the suspension is a bit soft and the body roll and understeer is higher than average. The steering is a bit light and lacks feel and feedback too.

When it comes to the acceleration, the 2021 Lexus RC F managed to give out a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 12.7 seconds. The car can also do a top speed of 172 MPH. With 15.0" front rotors and 13.6" rear rotors, the 2021 RC F managed to give out a 60-0 mph braking distance of 108 feet. In comparison, the 2021 RC F Track Edition managed to give out a 0-60 mph time of 4 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 12.4 seconds.

The 2021 BMW M4 Coupe topped the chart in terms of performance, with a 473 hp motor. This is followed closely by the 2021 Lexus RC F with 472 hp. The 2021 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Coupe also gave out a decent 469 hp from its 4L bi-turbo V8 motor. This is followed by the 2021 Audi RS 5 which has a 444 hp 2.9L twin-turbo V6 motor. When it comes to the 0-60 mph acceleration test, the 2021 BMW M4 Coupe gave out the best in class time of 3.8 seconds, which is followed by the 2021 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG and the 2021 RS 5, both of which gave out a time of 3.9 seconds.

Retaining the same powertrain of the outgoing 2020 model, which is a naturally aspirated V8 motor, the same mediocre city gas mileage of 16 MPG and the highway gas mileage of 24 MPG is offered by the 2021 Lexus RC F. The combined gas mileage of 19 MPG makes it one of the worst of the segment too.

With a 17.4-gallon fuel tank capacity, the 2021 Lexus RC F, which is offered for a base MSRP of $65,975, managed to give out a city range of 278.4 miles and the highway range of 417.6 miles, which equates to a combined range of 330.6 miles. In comparison, the track focussed 2021 RC F Track Edition also managed to give out a similar combined gas mileage of 19 MPG.

Both the 2021 Lexus RC F and the 2021 BMW M4 gave out an identical combined gas mileage of 19 MPG. The 2021 Audi RS 5 managed to be slightly more fuel-efficient, giving out a combined gas mileage of 20 MPG, which is followed by the 2021 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Coupe, which gave out 21 MPG of combined gas mileage.

The 2021 Lexus RC F is a performance coupe that comes with all the luxury and opulence that you expect from a Lexus. Available for a base MSRP of $65,975, the 2021 RC F comes with the black nuluxe color with silver fiber accents as standard. You could also get 7 other interior colors if you opt for the Track Edition or the Fuji Speedway Edition. This cabin is quite ergonomic with everything falling into place quite well. We were also impressed with the leather and silver accents that are present inside. The features like heated and powered seats, leather upholstery, automatic climate control system, heated steering wheel, etc are on board too.

When it comes to the comfort and space on offer, the front seats turned out to be quite impressive, with great side bolstering, under-thigh support, and lower back support. The front seat space is quite good too, with decent headroom and legroom. However, the shoulder room was below average. When it comes to the rear seat, the passengers would be quite unhappy with the mediocre space on offer. The shoulder room and legroom were mediocre. The headroom wasn't good either. All of this makes the 2021 RC F the worst offering of the segment in terms of space on offer. The cargo capacity of 10.1 cu ft was the worst of the lot too.

The 2021 BMW M4 Coupe offered the best in class front row space, which is followed by the 2021 Audi RS 5 and the 2021 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG, as all of them had a better headroom and shoulder room on offer. The rear seat space on offer with all the rivals was much superior to the 2021 RC F too. The 15.5 cu ft of cargo space provided by the 2021 M4 Coupe topped the chart and is followed by the C63 AMG Coupe and the Audi RS 5. When it comes to entertainment, the 2021 Lexus RC F comes with the same 7" infotainment system and the 10-speaker audio system, both of which are decent for the segment. 

If you want a better infotainment and audio system, the 2021 Lexus RC F also offers an optional 10.3" touchscreen infotainment system and the 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, both of which turned out to be quite impressive. This infotainment offers a sleek interface, with little to no lags and stutters. The audio experience through the Mark Levinson audio system was excellent too, even though the standard 10-speaker Lexus Premium Audio System was acceptable as well. The connectivity features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, AUX, etc are standard. Some of the interior and infotainment features on offer are:

The 2021 Lexus RC F is a striking compact luxury coupe that is available for a base MSRP of $65,975. With no major design changes from the outgoing 2020 model, the 2021 RC F retains the same front view, which is highlighted by the spindle-shaped Lexus grille, blacked-out grille and air dams, automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs, and the masculine hood design, all of which makes this coupe hard to ignore, in comparison to the bland and boring looking German performance coupes. The ground clearance of 5.1" also makes it a versatile offering of the segment, if you intend to take the car through the broken roads, as it rarely scrapes the underbody.

The side view and the rearview of the 2021 RC F also see no changes to the design. Coming in with 2 standard exterior colors for the RC F and 7 colors for the Track Edition and the Fuji Speedway Edition, this moniker stands out in the side view due to the multiple character lines, fender flares accommodating the 19" 7-split spoke alloy wheels, and the fender vents and sloping roofline. The rear view of the 2021 RC F is highlighted by the LED taillights, quad exhaust system, blacked-out air diffuser, and the integrated rear spoiler. The Track Edition and the Fuji Speedway Edition also get a large wing, for better aerodynamics, to set lap records.

When it comes to the exterior dimension, the 2021 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG topped the chart with the best in class length, width, height, and wheelbase. This is followed by the 2021 Audi RS 5 which also offered a superior length and width in comparison to Lexus. The wheelbase of the 2021 BMW M4 was about 3" more than the 2021 RC F, which does help it to provide better interior space. However, the ground clearance of 5.1" was the best for the 2021 RC F. 2021 Lexus RC F Vs 2021 BMW M4

Available for a base MSRP of $71,800, the 2021 BMW M4 does come out as a better proposition in terms of interior space and comfort, driving dynamics, acceleration, and gas mileage on offer. The infotainment system was also more modern and more intuitive than the one offered with the 2021 RC F. However, the 2021 RC F had a more comfortable ride quality, more standard features & equipment, and is much more reliable too.

2021 Lexus RC F Vs 2021 Audi RS5

The 2021 Audi RS 5 is a better driver's car, due to the sophisticated suspension and the turbocharged motor under the hood, both of which help the car to come out with more performance, better driving experience, and superior acceleration numbers. The interior was found to be more luxurious and it also had better interior and cargo space on offer as well. However, it is about $10,000 more expensive than the RC F, making it not very value-for-money. The reliability and resale value are also lower than the RC F.

2021 Lexus RC F Vs 2021 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG

Available for a base MSRP of $70,650, the 2021 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG is a few notches above the RC F, mainly in terms of luxury, performance, and the overall driving experience. It also looks and feels more modern too. The interior space and cargo space were slightly better than the RC F as well. However, the RC F offers a tried and tested naturally-aspirated V8 motor, making it an excellent grand tourer. It is also cheaper, has better resale, and offers a plethora of standard safety and driver-assistance features as standard.

The 2021 Lexus RC F is an impressive grand tourer of the segment. The big 5L naturally aspirated V8 motor helps in providing an excellent cruising experience on the highways, with barely any noise creeping into the cabin. The smooth-shifting automatic transmission, decent acceleration, and a long list of standard features and equipment make it an excellent daily driver, that can also double as a hooligan. However, the cramped rear seats, mediocre cargo capacity, and the archaic standard infotainment system are all deal breakers for prospective buyers. Hence, if you are alright with these faults, the 2021 RC F should be a clear winner of the segment.
