As we had mentioned earlier that the 2021 Mazda6 Sedan will be available in six different trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, Carbon Edition, and Signature. All trims have different features and optional upgrades, with the exclusive Carbon Edition trim being the newest addition to the Mazda6 family. The 2021 Mazda6 Sport has a starting MSRP of $24,325 plus a destination charge of $945, making the total - $25,270. The 2021 Mazda6 Signature is the top-range trim priced at $36,695.
All of these trims come with the same front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup, although the engine for the top-end trims is a more potent turbocharged. Under the hood, the 2.5-liter turbocharged Skyactiv-G four-cylinder gains 10 pound-feet of torque when filled with 93 octanes, producing the same 250 horsepower but an improved 320 lb-ft. On 87 octane, the same engine makes 227 hp and 310 lb-ft. This comes with a turbo badge on the Grand Touring and above models with the automatic gearbox.

The NHTSA has not rated the 2021 Mazda6 for its safety and reliability quotient yet, but the 2020 version of the Mazda6 had a perfect rating of five out of five stars with zero recalls zero investigations and zero complaints. Henceforth, the 2021 version is also expected to fare in the same way. The experts say that the 2021 version will come up with the same perfection level of safety and security features and which will also hold true to the similar affordable ownership costs as that of the previous iterations.
As we've mentioned above, the 2021 Mazda6 will be available in a price range between $24,000 and $36,000. The J.D Power has not rated the 2021 Mazda6 yet on the reliability front. However, previous year ratings for the Mazda6 are commendable. The 2020 Mazda6 has been rated a respectable overall 79 out of 100 as per J.D Power, which includes the highest rating of 80 that it gets on the Quality and Reliability front. The predictions about the car have been quite impressive thus far.
The 2021 version, based on the previous ratings, is expected to do exceptionally well too. Well, in short, the car is expected to be a worry-free and go-anywhere sedan. On average, the car costs $24,100. The pricing varies in different states due to destination fees and state taxes. Similarly, a lot of leasing deals tend to be different across the different states. Coming to the ownership costs of the sedan, the 2021 Mazda6 is set to roll about with a wide roster of updates, which in major cases will definitely add to ownership costs of the car. The following are the ownership costs one would incur for the Mazda 6:

The average ownership costs of the Mazda6 comes out to a total of $48,624 across an average period of 5 years, which in hindsight in along the coast of what the rest of the cars in the segment asks for. Now considering the Mazda6 to be a fairly reliable car, the additional costs associated with it are in fact justifiable.
Mazda's warranty package for the 2021 Mazda6 Sedan is as extensive as its trim lineup. Coming into 2021, the Mazda6 offers an Anti Perforation Warranty package for a period of 5 Years, yet we don't see the brand offering Complimentary scheduled maintenance this time too. Along with being a go-anywhere sedan, these warranty deals make the car a stress-free vehicle too.

To better maintain the Mazda6 - the Skyactiv engine in the 2021 Mazda6 comes from the factory with synthetic oil. Due to its complex design and high compression ratio, the manufacturer recommends 0W-20 synthetic oil. The advantages are longer intervals between oil changes, better protection for the engine, and better performance in extreme hot and cold weather. However, switching to conventional oil will not harm the engine or void the warranty.
The 2021 Mazda6 will have an MPD (miles per dollar) ratio of 2.72. This means the Mazda6 runs for 2.72 miles for every dollar you spend on it. This ratio is achieved by factoring all the running costs including taxes, insurance, fuel costs, and so on to the average distance covered in a year which comes to $5,500 and 15,000 miles respectively.
We would recommend you to go for the Signature trim as it offers the best feature palette among the rest of the cars in the segment and that too at a convenient price point. One can get a luxury premium car with lots of amazing features like advanced technical features on the interior, a luxurious cabin, hi-tech safety, and driver-assistance tech, and a fascinating drive all for $35,750. A car that offers both style and substance. So, we think going for the Signature trim level is a good idea.
Everything has its pros and cons. Before buying anything, we must compare all of them carefully and then get what’s best. If you are thinking of getting a used Mazda6 then here are some pros. Mazda is known for its decent fuel economy. The Mazda6 provides on an average basis, a fuel economy of 26 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highways. The car is loaded with features that are exceptionally advanced and convenient. The infotainment, the moonroof, BlueTooth connectivity, the whole lot. These features make the car a great idea.
Mazda last redesigned the Mazda6 for the 2014 model year but sticking with a 2018-or-newer model is prescribed. For 2018, Mazda refreshed the Mazda6 with a mid-cycle update, introducing a turbocharged engine option, revised exterior and interior styling, and more features including an 8-inch touch screen and a surround-view parking camera system. Though that was the last year you could get a Mazda6 equipped with a manual transmission. The 2019 Mazda6 gained available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while the 2020 model has no major changes.
The only disadvantage of getting a used Mazda6 is the sensitive ride. Sometimes the ride can get a little rough on uneven surfaces. Well, we would recommend that the car has more advantages than disadvantages. Thus, getting a used 2017-18 Mazda6 is not a bad idea and the best part is that one can get such a great car at such an affordable price.
Powering the 2021 Mazda6 forward is a choice of two engine options. Starting off with the effective and responsive 2.5L Skyavtiv 4-cylinder standard engine, which gives out 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, all your power-front shortcomings are taken care of by this engine. Now if that is not enough for you as well, there is a 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine to give you that extra oomph you're looking for. A heightened power output of +63 hp gets you up to 250 hp, and a total torque output of 320 lb-ft. These capable engines in turn allow you to have a smooth power delivery all day long.
The transmission duties for the 2021 Mazda6 will be taken care of by a quick-shifting 6-Speed automatic transmission. The 2021 Mazda6 delivers a linear performance graph due to which it gulps down insane amounts of premium fuel to send all of that 25 horses just to the front wheels. Apart from the usual choices, reports suggest that the 2021 Mazda6 will get a SKYACTIV-D turbocharged diesel engine as well for the 2021 MY. The car is said to offer the very best in terms of performance just to elevate your drive into a fun one. Let us check out some numbers as well.

In terms of the most horses produced, the Toyota Camry triumphs over the rest of the cars here, although it lags behind in terms of outright torque figures. Nevertheless, in terms of transmission duties, there is none who can even come close to the quick-shifting 6-Speed automatic from Mazda, and especially not the Honda and the Nissan. Moreover, the Mazda is the only car of the lot that solely comes with an FWD setup, unlike the others which come with both FWD and AWD setups.
The 2.5-liter engine of the 2021 Mazda6 gives the car a high power output that allows it to reach speeds of 60 miles per hour in just 7.1 seconds all the while achieving a top speed of 131 MPH. Now evidently, when the Mazda6 is equipped with the turbocharged setup, it bridges the 0-60 MPH gap in an astonishing 6.4 seconds gap. The 2021 Mazda6 might look subtle on the outside, although taming this humble sedan altogether is no mere task, even if it brings a wide grin on your face.
The predominantly fastest car of the lot needs some good potent brakes for it to come to a complete standstill. 11.7-inch ones in the front for the Sport and Touring trims, and 12.6-inch ones for the top-most trims, along with a common 10.9-inch back rotor bring the 2021 Mazda6 to complete stop from 60 MPH in an impressive 124 ft. The 11.7-inch ones might not pack the adequate biting force needed, unlike the 12.6-inch ones which inspires confidence while controlling this apparently heavy sedan. Nevertheless, it gets the job done.

The 2021 Mazda 6 tends to beat every other Sedan in the category in terms of outright acceleration figures, although when it comes to braking, it lags behind every other opponent in the list. Weight holds back much of a car's driving potential, and that is the reason the Nissan Altima turns out to be the slowest of the lot.
You might forget it to be a family saloon car, when in sight of an open stretched road, as with the turbo-4 it just goes for it. Although it may feel about to sway out on corners, nevertheless because of its weight, it sticks to its line without any hindrance. The rack and pinion steering setup provide loads of control even though if it makes the car feel light and nimble. The engaging driving dynamics are further given the support of the new 19-inch alloys and the suspension setup.
The suspension setup might not be able to chalk out major road imperfections in the city at slow speeds, but once on the highway, it curbs over them with little to no feel being witnessed inside the cabin. The road noise is also at large insulated within the cabin. Lastly, we'd like to end by saying that there is no other car in this segment that can live up to the 2021 Mazda6's driving dynamics quotient.
Well, coming to the fuel economy aspect, the 2021 Mazda6 delivers up to 26 miles to the gallon in the city and over 35 miles to the gallon out on the highway. The combined figure comes out to be 29 MPG. Now having said that, these numbers might not account for anything respectable in the family mid-size saloon segment, but nevertheless is more than enough for going about you daily travelling needs. This is solely because it has a class-leading 16.4 gallon fuel tank that should translate to fewer stops at the gas station while going on long weekend rides.
Now it's no secret that the 2.5L turbocharged Skyactive engine will be less frugal than its Naturally Aspirated counterpart, and so the combined MPG figure of 26 does not come as a huge surprise. The car is said to be quite decent for the range it provides but is it any good when compared to its rivals. Let's crunch some numbers and find out.

Considering the economy provided by that of the rivals, the fuel economy delivered by Mazda is a little low but it is not that bad in the long run, solely because it has the biggest fuel tank of the lot. Nissan Altima, on the other hand, is the most frugal car off the lot, as on average it can cover about a combined 518 miles on a full tank of gas, which is seriously impressive.
The mid-size sedan is one of those cars which provide the most sumptuously sculpted interiors in the segment. The interior of the 2021 Mazda6 is full of luxe, comfort, convenience, and upgraded creature comforts. Well apart from space, the car provides loads of interesting technical features for the convenience of the passengers. The lower trim levels come up with cloth upholstery and the higher trim ones come up with standard opulent Nappa leather upholstery.
Moreover, the lower trim levels provide an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and the higher trim levels additionally provide 6-way power-adjustable passenger seats. Heated and ventilated seats with memory functions are standard in the top-most trims. Furthermore, there is a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch LCD meter display, paddle shifters, and a dual-zone climate control system at play too. Well, we can see that there is not much of a difference between all the cars in terms of the cabin space. Moreover, the numerical values mentioned above tell us that there is enough space in the 2021 Mazda6 for five adults to fit in easily and comfortably. Furthermore, the Mazda6 provides a cargo space of 14.7 cubic feet. which is enough for carrying in luggage for short weekend road trips.
The 2021 Mazda 6 combines an involving drive with practicality as it has a trunk capacity of 14.7 cubes. The 2021 Mazda6's cargo capacity is subpar as compared to the other mid-size sedans in the segment. Mazda gives you the flexibility to fold the rear seats for added cargo space but makes it a lot more cumbersome, as you cannot do it from the cabin. The latches are located in the trunk and require the user to get out and do the needful.
