 The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is a good deal in any configuration, but you should go for the 4MATIC version that offers more stability thanks to its AWD system. We recommend opting for the $1,700 Driver Assistance package that adds top driver-assist features such as evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control, speed limit recognition, etc. If you are a technology freak, buy the Premium package that includes dual 10.25-inch screens, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, hands-free trunk lid, and proximity keyless entry for $1,750.

The A 220’s 188-hp turbocharged engine is torquey and energetic, providing an enthusiastic exhaust bark during aggressive acceleration- Autotrader

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is equipped with a highly refined 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine clubbed with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine puts out 188 hp and 221 lb-ft. of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels as standard but the A-Class also comes in a 4-Matic AWD configuration, which adds some pounds but improves the overall traction. This small Benz scoots off the line with enthusiasm, and power delivery is smooth and steady as you continue to accelerate.

While driving the 2021 A-Class, you'll hardly notice any difference in dynamics though it is an FWD car.  Only when you start pushing the car really hard around the bends, that is when there will be a hint of understeer.  The ride quality on the 2021 A-Class is also quite impressive. While it is plush, there's also a bit of firmness. Furthermore, a quarter of a mile is covered in 14.7 seconds with a top speed of 132 MPH. The braking performance of the A-Class is equally commendable with 4-wheel discs with ABS and EBD. In the brake test, the 2021 A-Class was able to stop from 60-0 MPH in just 108 feet, which is really good.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is easily the most powerful sedan in this class but its acceleration timings are similar to the A-Class. The Audi A3 makes the least power and hence, its performance stats are the slowest here. The A-Class surprises with its quick pace despite making less power.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is a fairly fuel-efficient choice- The Car Connection

The 2021 Mercedes-Class A-Class returns an excellent fuel economy for a subcompact sedan. In its FWD configuration, the 2021 A-Class gets EPA-estimated fuel ratings of 25 MPG in the city, 36 MPG on the highway, and 29 MPG combined. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz A-Class has an interior with a premium look that lives up to Mercedes-Benz standards. A trio of circular air vents adds decorative flair to the center stack. The 2021 A-Class gets MB-Tex synthetic leather upholstery as standard. The seats are well contoured and agreeable to many body types, though taller drivers might wish more upper-back support. They can be adjusted electronically in 12 directions while the driver's seat also gets a 4-way power lumbar support for a comfortable driving position.   

Passengers will enjoy ample space in the front row but the rear seats might be on the tighter side. But so are all the cars in this category, and average-sized adults will have no problem squeezing in the back for short to medium distances. The optional Premium package allows it to be upgraded to dual 10.25-inch screens. Eight speakers offered in the 2021 A-Class handle the sound duties. 

However, it can be upgraded to a 12-speaker Burmester premium audio system. The infotainment system also features the latest connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, Wi-Fi hotspot, etc. The MBUX infotainment system can be operated in many ways. Apart from changing the setting by touching the screen, you can also use voice commands, operate through a touchpad controller on the center console, or by steering wheel-mounted controls. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class manages to look simply stunning and has to be one of the best looking cars in its class- Carbuzz

Mercedes-Benz has been on fire with their latest batch of styling sedans, with the A-Class sharing its swooping lines with the likes of the updated E-Class. It has a drag coefficient of 0.22, which is apparently the second-most aerodynamically efficient passenger car according to Mercedes-Benz. The nose wears the single-slat grille with the large three-pointed star and the swept-back headlamps flank on either side. The bonnet is large and flat with squared-off lines. 

The wheelbase of the 2021 A-Class sedan is the widest in its class, which is the reason for its spacious cabin. The side profile has a Merc DNA which is clean with a sleek and smart set of 17-inch alloy wheels. The 2021 A-Class does look quite elegant and it still has the slinky silhouette but the roofline is less curved than the CLA. The rear has almost triangular tail lamps with fake dual exhausts to give it a sportier look. In our opinion, it doesn't look sporty but rather elegant and classy. 

The Audi A3 has the highest ground clearance that is 2 inches more than the A-Class. This is to help absorb shocks when riding on rough roads. It also has the shortest wheelbase here measuring just 103.8 inches due to which its interior is cramped. At 3,393 pounds, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is the heaviest vehicle in this competition. 2021 Mercedes-Benz A-Class vs 2021 Audi A3

The starting price of the Audi A3 is on the same level as the A-Class. Both the sedans house the same engine and have similar power configurations. Yet, the A-Class has a better pace in the long run. But the A3 is a better option in terms of fuel economy. Moving to the interior, the A3 doesn't offer enough in-cabin space as the A-Class but provides good cargo capacity. The A3 has a history of good safety ratings but does not provide enough safety features like the A-Class.

2021 Mercedes-Benz A-Class vs 2021 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is slightly more expensive than the A-Class. It makes 40 hp more than the A-Class but the latter is just 0.2 seconds slower in the quarter-mile test. The 2 Series has good fuel efficiency but the A-Class has slightly better MPG figures. The 2 Series lacks headroom in both rows in terms of passenger space but offers class-leading trunk volume.
