The 2021 Nissan GT-R will be offered in a single trim level: Premium. It will be offered with the same engine 3.8L Twin-Turbocharged V6 engine which pushes out 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torques. Since there is not really a choice here to make, if you want a Nissan GT-R in your driveway, you'd have to go for the standard Premium trim. Yet, fret not, the 2021 Nissan GT-R Premium comes factory fitted with all the bells and whistles you'd ever need in a race-spec car of this sort. Although, there is also a Nissan GT-R NISMO variant on sale, that costs well over $200,000 and is reviewed seperately.

The 2021 Nissan GT-R Coupe is fitted with the famous twin-turbocharged 3.8L twin-turbocharged V6, which for 2021 comes with a 14.5% reduction in the twin-turbo setup’s mass, 24% increase in inertia which increases turbo response, and all these results in a 20% increase in throttle response than the already feisty 2020 iteration.

The 3.8L V6 engine of the 2021 Nissan GT-R Premium trim pushes out 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque, while the GT-R Nismo produces 600hp. The engine feels fresh and grunty and the V6 with the updated Titanium exhaust produces some nice whooshing sonorous roars.

The 2021 Nissan GT-R propels from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds which is nerve-wracking. Keep the pedal pinned and the GT-R will clock the quarter-mile lap in a mere 11.2 seconds. Flat out, the 2021 Nissan GT-R can attain a top speed of 205 MPH. The 2021 Nissan GT-R is insanely fast, yet it gets an even faster version that's called NISMO. The 2021 GT-R NISMO's 0-60 time is 2.7 seconds, while the quarter-mile is achieved in 10.8 seconds. 

All of the rivals in this segment are more or less in the same ballpark in terms of power figures. Yet, it's the 2021 Acura NSX with its 573 hp 3.5L hybrid V6 leading the way while the Porsche 911 Turbo is the torquiest offering of the segment. However, the GT-R costs about $45K less than the Porsche. Pricing and power output give the GT-R more performance for every dollar spent.

The 2021 Nissan GT-R Coupe performs considerably well in terms of fuel efficiency for a 600hp engine. The 2021 Nissan GT-R coupe will do an estimated 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Sum up these figures, and the 2021 Nissan GT-R returns 18 mpg combined.

Furthermore, the 2021 Nissan GT-R gets a cavernous fuel tank capacity of 19.5 gallons. The GT-R gets a nice range of 430 miles on the highway which makes it the perfect car for your long drives on the country roads.

The 2021 Acura NSX's mileage and emission figures are the best in this class, courtesy of its dual electric motor hybrid powertrain. The interior of the 2021 Nissan GT-R is spacious and comfortable with all the latest techs and gadgets to play with. The Recaro bucket seats are comfortable and help you face high G-forces while cornering and provide good shoulder support. The interior is wrapped in Alcantara with synthetic suede inserts on the dashboard. The R35 comes with Aluminum pedals and an Aluminum gear shifter.

Nevertheless, the GT-R has not yet been able to shake the feeling of sitting in a big plastic box whenever you spend more than a few hours seated. The front seats are spacious but taller passengers will have trouble sitting in the back. Basic adjustments for the seats are manual. The heating for the seats is switched from a small easily missable button on the bottom, which is hard to reach if you’re more than six feet tall. The climate control works reasonably well and cools the car fairly quickly. Although, the interior feels a little outdated when compared to the Acura, Audi, or Porsche and even comes with an ancient DVD player

.The Nissan GT-R offers a cargo space of 8.8 cu-ft which is the largest in the segment. Furthermore, it also comes with detachable rear seats, which do seem useless with no practical leg space but can give you even more space for your racing equipment and spare tires.

The 2021 Nissan GT-R gets an 8-inch infotainment screen that automatically goes to R-mode as soon as you enter a racetrack with the help of Satnav. The infotainment screen shows analog dials that show temperatures, lap times, real-time engine speeds, and other measurements.

The infotainment setup comes with SiriusXM Traffic with Travel Link, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and an 11-speaker Bose premium surround sound system, even which feels dimmer when compared to the growls of the engine in front, but the sound-proofing is nice and to a limit enjoyable for your ears. Some of the most eminent infotainment features of the 2021 Nissan GT-R are:

The 2021 GT-R has not been tested by the NHTSA or IIHS, neither has the 2020 model for that matter. The design has not changed much from the first generation. There are crumple zones located around the trunk and the engine sits in a reinforced housing. So, you can trust it to do the job of absorbing the majority of impact in the event of a crash. The 2021 GT-R comes with a long list of safety features like six-airbags, crumple zones in front and rear, bucket seats with the energy-absorbing steering column, reinforced roll bars, traction control, and AWD transmission, so doing over 200mph doesn’t get you over your nerves.

2021 Nissan GT-R Vs Acura NSX

In terms of Exterior, the Acura NSX does look more modern and sleeker, although looks are subjective. The Acura NSX comes with a modern Hybrid powertrain which increases mileage and reduces emissions by a large margin, the interior of the Acura is also more tech-featured than the GT-R. The modern tech in Acura also provides an easier and accurate handling experience but for $40K less we would choose the rawness of the GT-R any day. While Acura focuses on being more of a daily driver with supercar looks, the GT-R focuses on just one thing, performance. The GT-R with its launch control, stiffer suspension, and quicker shifting transmission make your neck snap towards your seats.

2021 Nissan GT-R Vs Porsche 911 Turbo

The Porsche 911 offers more mileage than the GT-R, more torque, and Electronically powered Tilt and Telescoping steering wheel, Adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, and a much more luxurious, updated, and comfortable cabin. The GT-R offers a better overall range, more horsepower, better brakes and wheels, better transmission, and more outright performance. The Porsche offers a wider range of customizations while the GT-R comes with better modes for different styles of driving. While one is developed on the tracks of Nürburgring the other is born on the hills of Akina, both the cars carry the legacy of more than 50 years of their rivalry.

2021 Nissan GT-R Vs Audi R8

While Nissan is more focused on the performance aspect of the GT-R, Audi adds in some luxury and German technology to account for its slower lap times of the R8. The Virtual Cockpit is a much better-looking cluster than the dated analog dials in the GT-R. Around the corners, the Quattro AWD performs well. If you’re a bit flexible with your budget, the extra buck for Tony Stark’s personal pick is well worth it.

Nissan GT-R R35 since its launch has undergone more than a decade of refinement and tuning and is the 2021 GT-R is still worthy to be called ‘Godzilla’, with its aggressive looks, even more, aggressive performance and handling, and large aftermarket support for this monster to spread its wing. The $115K hefty price tag might hurt at first but hurts a little less when compared to the other cars in the segment which offer similar performance for an average of $40k-$50K more.
