Overall Rating
The 2021 Porsche Macan will be a carryover model from 2020. The only new addition is Apple CarPlay. Available for sale with a starting MSRP of $52,100, it is a standalone model. It comes with a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine that churns out 248 hp. But for more power, there is the 348 hp Macan S, 375 hp GTS, and the 434 hp Turbo models. The interior of the 2021 Macan is practical, feature-rich, and maintains the sporty-luxury vibe like the Cayenne.
Available for sale as a standalone model, the 2021 Porsche Macan comes with an MSRP of $52,100 without including the destination fee. This extra destination fee varies anywhere between $1,100 to $1,500. Waking it up from its slumber is a 2.0L turbocharged Inline-4 cylinder engine that churns out 248 hp. The interior remains true to the Porsche tradition of a perfect blend between sportiness and luxury and gets Apple CarPlay added this year.
For more power, there is the 348 hp Macan S, the 375 hp Macan GTS or even the 434 hp Macan Turbo that can jump from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Besides buying, leasing the 2021 Macan is also a viable option. Pay $4,039 at the time of signing and you can lease the Macan for $699/month for 36 months. With its cheery yet powerful avatar, the 2021 Macan competes against the Mercedes Benz GLC-Class, Audi Q5, and the BMW X3, all of which are top sellers for the brands.
The 2021 Porsche Macan is offered as a standalone trim and is the lone wolf for the brand in the conventional compact luxury crossover segment. Though it's bursting with a ton of features, there is room for more. Hence, we would recommend you to spend $7,400 extra and pick up the Premium Package Plus. This will add creature comforts, safety features, a BOSE Sound system, LED headlamps with PDLS+, and many other features.

The Porsche Macan may be getting on in years, but it's still an attractive offering for those who aren't concerned with price and just want a compact luxury SUV that drives beautifully.-CarBuzz
The 2021 Porsche Macan is a carryover model from 2020. The specs and features remain the same as before except for the addition of Apple CarPlay for the infotainment system. This is a welcome change since the existing system fell short on many accounts for users who had Apple devices and could not get the CarPlay functionality even after dropping 50 grand for the ride.
The ride comes with a 248 hp 2.0L turbocharged I-4 that is hooked up to an AWD as standard. Besides that, you get 8-way power-adjustable seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.9-inch infotainment screen, a 4.8-inch digital driver display with an Analog black tachometer, and LED headlights with 4-spot LED DRLs, and 3D LED taillights.

Although it's not a slinky sport coupe, the Macan places a big emphasis on performance.- MotorTrend
Keeping the Porsche trend alive, each trim of the 2021 Porsche Macan gets its own engine with different power outputs. The standard 2021 Macan comes with a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine that throws out 248 hp and 273lb-ft of torque. This comes hooked up to a 7-speed shiftable automatic transmission. The power is tamed and put on the wheels via the standard AWD transmission. This drivetrain gives you the quintessential 4x4 feel without ever feeling as heavy. The transmission does a marvelous job and glides through the gears with buttery smooth fluidity both during upshifts and downshifts.
There is no turbo lag whatsoever and you can thoroughly enjoy every ride without any issues. But if you feel like you need more power, the Macan S can please you with 348 ponies to boot. Even more? Try the 2021 Macan GTS with 375 hp that can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. But if you want the true powerhouse, then there is the Macan Turbo. This beast packs a mighty punch with a 434 hp 2.9L twin-turbo V6 that can gallop from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds but also demands a hefty sum of $84,600 to enter your garage.
Though the powerful siblings are made for performance mostly, the standard 2021 Macan is also not far behind. With its dual faceted performance of a daily driver and an adrenaline junkie, you can enjoy the Macan fully with the apt drive mode. Find an empty strip of road, and floor the gas pedal. The 2021 Porsche Macan will complete the 0-06 mph sprint in 6.3 seconds and the quarter-mile in exactly double that time at 15.1 seconds. To handle this athleticism, the beefy brakes are also in place. Thanks to these, the 2021 Macan will brake from 0-60 mph in a stopping distance of 110 feet.

The Audi Q5 with its 261 ponies and the fastest time in both the 0-60 mph and quarter-mile gobbles up the first place. On paper, the Mercedes Benz GLC-Class is second, but the acceleration figures tell a different story. The BMW X3 despite being the most underpowered actually takes second place in acceleration. The Merc is out in third place while the Porsche Macan being the costliest is the underperformed and takes the last spot in all regards.
The MPG values of the Porsche Macan are poor for a luxury compact SUV.- Cars.USNews
Equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged I-4, the 2021 Porsche Macan is definitely a force to be reckoned with in terms of sheer driving pleasure. However, the 50 grand price tag does not help the MPG figures in any way. The ride offers 19 MPG in the city, 23 MPG on the highway, which results in a combined 21 MPG.
To make up for the mediocre MPG figures, the fuel tank capacity is on the larger side 19.8-gallons. After a full refueling stop, the ride can offer an overall combined range of 416 miles. At its best on the highway, this range can bump up to 455 miles. So, you can go from Los Angeles to San Francisco in one full tank without any issues.

The BMW X3 gets the best mpg figures, no questions asked. The Audi Q5 sits in second place with better MPG figures from last year but is still marginally behind the X3. Mercedes Benz cars are not known to be fuel-efficient in their relentless pursuit of power, but the GLC-Class actually has decent MPG figures to earn it third place on the pole.
The interior build quality and materials are all excellent, and the layout is both attractive and ergonomic.-CarBuzz
Porsche always makes it a point to build an elaborate interior. The luxury design is blended with sporty elements very tastefully. The premium leather and genuine wood can be seen on the dashboard and the instrument panel with aluminum and a hint of chrome. There's a ton of buttons all over the cabin that gives aircraft vibes. The spacious cabin is ready to thrill you with its practicality. The seats are comfortable as per your needs and get a heating function as well. The center console is inclined like a sports car that divides the front seats in style.
Also, the leather-wrapped steering wheel with the Porsche emblem looks phenomenal. The infotainment is smartly placed in the middle for your convenience. The steering and the center console has control of the whole cabin with those infinite buttons. Best suited for five adults, the Macan is spacious enough and the luxury quotient aboard gets better with the available options as well. A 17.6 cubic feet of cargo volume might seem short but will eat up 2 months of household supplies as a child gobbles down candy.

Porsche never shares the interior space of its warriors, and the Macan is no different. As is, the Audi Q5 is the most spacious followed by the Mercedes Benz GLC-Class with its opulent cabin. The BMW X3 has the most compactly built cabin in this lineup. That being said, in-car entertainment is also important. The 2021 Macan comes with a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is loaded with tons of features. It is flanked by a 10-speaker Porsche Premium Sound System as standard.Â
The screen comes with Porsche Connect as standard along with the latest addition, Apple CarPlay. Besides this, Bluetooth, WiFi Hotspot, USB, are also standard. Unfortunately, Android Auto is not offered even now which is a bummer for the price the car asks from you. That being said, for the music lovers, there is an extra treat of a BOSE Premium Sound System that is available as optional and can be added via the packages or a standalone option. The following are the prominent features of the interior and infotainment system of the 2021 Porsche Macan:
The Porsche Macan takes its larger Cayenne sibling’s design cues and shrinks them into a 3/5ths package.- The Car Connection
The 2021 Porsche Macan has very stylish looks for an SUV. A sporty design, iconic Porsche covers, that beautiful set of tail lamps tells a story and sleek rear tail lamps enhance the overall look of the car. The vehicle looks straight away beast from the ground up with that wide-body design. The front fascia is uplifted with air vents all over the bumper and a sleek grille.
The high powered models get the dark theme and can be availed on the base trim with the Sports design package. Porsche also offers different alloy wheel designs with shades to complete the look. The rear, on the other hand, lends a touch of sophistication with the joined tail lamps and the Porsche badging in the middle. The twin roarers at the back look great in chrome finish.

Compared to the others, the Porsche Macan is actually the heaviest. The BMW X3 is not far behind in terms of heft. The Audi Q5 is only 7 lbs lighter than the Bimmer. Surprisingly the Mercedes Benz GLC Class that looks like the bulkiest one is actually the lightest one despite having the biggest wheelbase. Some of the notable features of the exterior of the 2021 Porsche Macan are:
The Macan can be had with a wide array of driver-assistance technology. Most of it is optional.- CarAndDriver
The 2021 Porsche Macan is a step forward in the right direction when it comes to occupant safety as well. The NHTSA or the IIHS have not tested the Macan since its inception, and we don't see that happening this year either. If it's any consolation, the Porsche Macan carries a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests. However, the brand has made sure that the absence of safety ratings do not deter the buyers.
This is one of the biggest reasons why the 2021 Macan comes loaded with a plethora of safety features as standard. Ranging from active driver assistance aids to passive safety tech that will keep the occupants safe even when you are at 120 mph+. Some of the most prominent standard safety features on offer in the 2021 Porsche Macan are:
The 2021 BMW X3 continues to be the crown king of safety in the segment. It comes with the best driver tech in the business along with an overall magnanimous build. The interior is spacious, practical, minimalist, and is one of the best places for a family-friendly daily driver. With a dash of luxury in every element, it looks upscale and menacing as well. Furthermore, it offers the best MPG figures despite being underpowered. The only place it is beaten out by the Porsche Macan is the dynamism of the drive that the Bimmer seems to lack.
The 2021 Audi Q5 has been pumped up this time around. Despite being a distant corporate cousin to the Porsche, it is different in almost all aspects. While the Macan is a fervent believer of driver enthusiasm, the Audi Q5 is the practical family driver that is also fun. The Audi Q5 is the most powerful in this lineup and even then, it offers one of the best MPG figures. Furthermore, the interior is more spacious with more cargo space. Hence, if you favor practicality more than the fun of the drive, then the 2021 Audi Q5 is the one to pick since it is also priced lower.
The 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC-Class is the opulent majesty of the lineup. With the brand's legacy of being the ultra-opulent chariot, the GLC 300 continues to advance the cause dauntlessly. It is one of the most powerful ones in this lineup but comes up short in terms of accelerating. However, for the lower price, the drive experience is still quite exhilarating as compared to the rest and only marginally lesser than the Porsche. That being said, it more than makes up for it with an immersive, technologically advanced, and comfortably luxurious interior that will simply spoil you.
The 2021 Porsche Macan does not sway from tradition and maintains its flavourful panache yet again. It is stylish, comfortable, and a spectacular performer which can turn many others green with envy. Yes, it does not set any records in the acceleration sprints, but it comes with the driving dynamism that Porsche cars are known for. Priced slightly higher than its adversaries, it definitely delivers every penny's worth.
Hence, if you are looking for a driver's car in the guise of a luxurious daily driver, then the 2021 Porsche Macan is the one that your wallet should favor.
