Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

For the 2021 Volvo V90, we do not have any rating from the IIHS and NHTSA and offer the best safety features. Volvo always provides its customers with extreme comfort, satisfaction, driving experience, and resale value. Whereas in terms of reliability we get a predicted rating of 2.5 out of 5 that’s below average from the J.D. Power report.

The below-average rating for the Volvo V90 is because of its huge estate like design and thus the fact that it gets only a four-cylinder engine with either a turbocharged version or a supercharged version. It did lack a few good features which made it score so less in the past but now these shortcomings have been answered by Volvo and thus it will get away with a better score.

5-year maintenance and ownership costs

The 5-year ownership cost table will require an update for the upcoming 2021 Volvo V90, but on average we estimated the ownership cost of a Volvo V90 and it is around $52,000 for the base model. Overall repairs and maintenance costs summed up for $5000 for the Front-wheel-drive powertrain and also there is an optional All wheel drive powertrain for the top of the line trims, it also offers best safety features and comfort.

Warranty

The Volvo V90 may not provide a better warranty period than its rivals. However, it still manages to provide best in class being one of the trusted partners from the last 75 years of experience in comfort, performance, and luxury, owing to a great warranty period of 4 years/ 50,000 miles of the basic warranty, the powertrain warranty period of 4 years/ 50,000 miles and 24-hour emergency road service available in the united states valid during for the 3 years/ 36,000 miles of the warranty period.

Is buying a used Volvo V90 Wagon a good idea?

The Volvo V90 retains a pretty good resale value for the 2018 model year as only minor changes have been seen since then. The Volvo V90 holds its resale value and has been above average in the past and buying used 2018 model year is nearly identical to the 2020 V90, and it likely costs less.

Calculating the depreciation value, the value of a used 2018 Volvo V90 ranges from $32,980 to $39,451 depending on the vehicle condition, mileage, and performance. So according to its resale value, Volvo V90 is a better buy as it is ranked 8th in the best wagon in 2018. So according to its resale value, a used Volvo V90 is a good buy.

Engine and Performance
7.5/10

The 2021 Volvo V90 offers two engine options, Where the T5 Trims comes with a 2.0L Turbocharged Inline 4 cylinder engine that delivers 250 hp and 285 lb-ft of torque paired with front-wheel drive powertrain and the T6 gets the same 2.0L engine as the T5 and uses Twin-Charging i.e a combination of turbocharger and supercharger to produces a whopping 316Hp and 295 lb-ft of torque equipped with an All-wheel drive system. All the trims are coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission for a seamless experience.

Volvo entry-level T5 engine has a front-wheel-drive powertrain and is more fuel-efficient than the top end engine due to the absence of AWD and the Supercharger, both of which consume a sizeable chunk of fuel, but the T6 powered Wagons do feel a lot more responsive.
