The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will continue to offer three trims - Sprint, Ti, and a new Veloce trim. All models are equipped with AWD called Q4, except the base Sprint that has RWD as standard with the option of AWD. Drivers can change Stelvio’s driving character via the DNA drive-mode selector. DNA stands for Dynamic, Natural, and All-Weather. Opt for Natural, and the Stelvio is happy to cruise. Go for Dynamic or especially Race, and it bristles with ready energy.

Compared to the competition, All three offer a lot more legroom in both rows especially in the front row, and on the back row, the competition offers about an inch or two more. All three also offer more cargo space than the Stelvio. But that's not all that is available on the interior, there is also the infotainment system - an 8.8-inch touchscreen which can also be controlled with the help of the rotary controller on the center console.
The infotainment system on all trims features navigation as standard except on the base sprint trim, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, voice commands, Bluetooth connectivity, AM/FM radio including SiriusXM satellite radio, and an 8-speaker sound system as standard. The system is easy to operate and responsive, however, some have said its in-built navigation may be a bit slow.

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio's exterior doesn't undergo any significant changes for this year and it still retains the charm inherent in the marque's sedans. The traditional Scudetto, V-shaped grille takes center stage, flanked by sleek, long headlamps. Alfa Romeo has a past of building artistic cars. It's obvious to see this Italian SUV highlights "sport" rather than "utility."
The rear end isn’t boxy like other SUVs, either. It angles down sharply, which imparts the look of a sport wagon rather than an SUV. Fender flares and big wheels reinforce the sporty look. If the Veloce trim is added to the lineup it will come with 20-inch wheels borrowed from the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, Veloce trims badging and dual exhausts with black exterior accents, for that sporty look.

In terms of dimensions, the Stelvio is quite similar to the competition. The wheelbase of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 is longer by 2.1-inches when compared to the Stelvio but also rides lower by 3.1 inches as well. However, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio sits in the middle when it comes to curb weight the 2022 Stelvio sits in the middle but leans towards the heavier side of the scale.

For 2022, the biggest change that Alfa did for the Stelvio is to bump up the standard safety features on offer. The Stelvio now features Level 1 and Level 2 Autonomous drive features as standard. There are, as yet, no crashworthiness reviews available for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio from the IIHS or the NHSTA. The Stelvio shares its platform with the Giulia sedan which got an overall "Good" rating in its IIHS crashworthy tests. Sadly, the NHTSA has no safety ratings for the sedan, either.

The 2022 Audi Q5 offers a better interior, with better quality, features, and cargo capacity than the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The MMI infotainment system on the Audi is way more intuitive than the one on the Alfa as well. However, the Q5 is just not as dynamic to drive as the 2022 Stelvio. The steering in the Audi lacks feel and feedback as well. Also, apart from these small niggles, the base powertrain on offer in the Q5 is nowhere as impressive as the 2L turbocharged inline-4 motor in the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
The 2022 BMW X3 is one of the more popular choices in the compact luxury crossover SUV segment. The 2022 X3 offers a lot better interior space, gas mileage, and a bit more safety and driver-assistance features. Also, the Bimmer offers the best in class cargo capacity.
