The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will continue to offer three trims - Sprint, Ti, and a new Veloce trim.  When you compare the features available on the Veloce trim to the Sport Ti trim, essentially, they are the same, it is just the name and badging that is different, and some additional sporty features and that's about it.

Prices for the 2022 Stevio start from $44,750 for the base Sprint model. All trims will be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine. The base Sprint trim is the only one with the standard drivetrain of RWD, the other two come with AWD as standard drivetrain, which is optional for $2,000 on the Sprint. Alfa Romeo does offer many customization options in all departments for you to get your own custom Stelvio.

Unsurprisingly, performance is one of the strong suits of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio - Kelly Blue Book

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio shall remain unchanged on the powertrain front and continue with the same setup as the outgoing model. The 2022 Stelvio will feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque. This is besides the high-performance Stelvio Quadrifoglio model, which employs a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 making 505 hp.

The grunt flows through an 8-speed automatic transmission with available shift paddles. All models are equipped with AWD called Q4, except the base Sprint that has RWD as standard with the option of AWD. Drivers can change Stelvio’s driving character via the DNA drive-mode selector. DNA stands for Dynamic, Natural, and All-Weather. Opt for Natural, and the Stelvio is happy to cruise. Go for Dynamic or especially Race, and it bristles with ready energy.

As there are no mechanical and major changes, there should be no changes in performance. The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will do the 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds, and the standing quarter-mile time in 14-seconds. The 2022 Stelvio will reach a manufacturer's claimed top speed of 144 mph. The Stelvio also has a towing capacity of up to 3,000 pounds, just in case you decide to take a few extra items along.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is the most powerful of the above luxury compact SUVs making 280 hp. Following this is the Audi Q6 making 261 hp and then comes the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 making 255 hp followed by the BMW X3 making 248 hp. The 2022 Stelvio will also offer the best performance with a 0-60 sprint of 5.4 seconds.

Although the Stelvio's real-world fuel economy and highway range are unremarkable, but they align with four-cylinder competitors. - Caranddriver

Since the 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia remains unchanged on the powertrain front, it shall deliver the same levels of fuel efficiency as the outgoing model. The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will give fuel economy figures of  22/29/25 mpg in the city/highway/combined with RWD drivetrain and when equipped with the AWD (Q4) drivetrain will give 1 mpg less in combined and highway.

Its standard 16.9-gallon fuel capacity, should get a combined driving range of approximately 422 miles, which is the shortest driving range of the above compact SUVs because of the size of the fuel tank, With the AWD drive versions, which have the same fuel capacity, come with a lesser driving range.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio's interior does come with an adequate amount of space on the interior. The 2022 Stelvio will seat five passengers. As there are no changes on the interior, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio will come with 10-way power-adjustable front row seats with 4-way power lumbar. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard. 

Seat heating functions are available as standard on the Ti and Ti Sport trim. Leatherette seat upholstery is standard on the base Sprint and Ti trim with leather coming standard on the Ti Sport trim. The possibility of the Veloce will add leather as well with the option of Alcantara inserts and contrast stitching similar to the Quadrifoglio trim. The 2022 Stelvio will offer a cargo capacity of 18.5 cu.ft., the same as the previous year.

Compared to the competition, All three offer a lot more legroom in both rows especially in the front row, and on the back row, the competition offers about an inch or two more. All three also offer more cargo space than the Stelvio. But that's not all that is available on the interior, there is also the infotainment system - an 8.8-inch touchscreen which can also be controlled with the help of the rotary controller on the center console.

The infotainment system on all trims features navigation as standard except on the base sprint trim, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, voice commands, Bluetooth connectivity, AM/FM radio including SiriusXM satellite radio, and an 8-speaker sound system as standard. The system is easy to operate and responsive, however, some have said its in-built navigation may be a bit slow.

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio's exterior doesn't undergo any significant changes for this year and it still retains the charm inherent in the marque's sedans. The traditional Scudetto, V-shaped grille takes center stage, flanked by sleek, long headlamps. Alfa Romeo has a past of building artistic cars. It's obvious to see this Italian SUV highlights "sport" rather than "utility."

The rear end isn’t boxy like other SUVs, either. It angles down sharply, which imparts the look of a sport wagon rather than an SUV. Fender flares and big wheels reinforce the sporty look. If the Veloce trim is added to the lineup it will come with 20-inch wheels borrowed from the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, Veloce trims badging and dual exhausts with black exterior accents, for that sporty look.

In terms of dimensions, the Stelvio is quite similar to the competition. The wheelbase of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 is longer by 2.1-inches when compared to the Stelvio but also rides lower by 3.1 inches as well. However, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio sits in the middle when it comes to curb weight the 2022 Stelvio sits in the middle but leans towards the heavier side of the scale.

As standard, the 2022 Giulia comes with a suite of driver assists including an active blind-spot assist, active cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, and front and rear parking sensors - Carbuzz

For 2022, the biggest change that Alfa did for the Stelvio is to bump up the standard safety features on offer. The Stelvio now features Level 1 and Level 2 Autonomous drive features as standard. There are, as yet, no crashworthiness reviews available for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio from the IIHS or the NHSTA. The Stelvio shares its platform with the Giulia sedan which got an overall "Good" rating in its IIHS crashworthy tests. Sadly, the NHTSA has no safety ratings for the sedan, either.

Coming to the safety features onboard, the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio has ADAS features that feature level 1 and 2 autonomy and a high level of safety and security content, including:

2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vs. 2022 Audi Q5

The 2022 Audi Q5 offers a better interior, with better quality, features, and cargo capacity than the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The MMI infotainment system on the Audi is way more intuitive than the one on the Alfa as well. However, the Q5 is just not as dynamic to drive as the 2022 Stelvio. The steering in the Audi lacks feel and feedback as well. Also, apart from these small niggles, the base powertrain on offer in the Q5 is nowhere as impressive as the 2L turbocharged inline-4 motor in the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

The 2022 BMW X3 is one of the more popular choices in the compact luxury crossover SUV segment. The 2022 X3 offers a lot better interior space, gas mileage, and a bit more safety and driver-assistance features. Also, the Bimmer offers the best in class cargo capacity. However, the X3 just doesn't stand out, especially on the design front, which the Alfa very easily manages to do. The 2022 Stelvio is also a bit more fun to drive on the whole as well. Thanks to a potent motor, the performance in the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is better too, which helps it perform better than its rivals.

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is one of the more driver-focused compact SUVs in the segment. Starting at just $44,750, the Alfa is one of the most fun to drive vehicles in the segment thanks to a potent chassis and a terrific engine. It has one of the best-looking exteriors in the segment as well.
