Used 2022 Audi A3 for sale 

The new A3 will be available in three trim levels - Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige, with the prices expected to be at $33,900 for the Premium and stretching to $43,200 for the Prestige. For the price, the A3 is said to remain the same as far as the features are concerned albeit with some minor updates and changes made to them. As standard, all configurations come equipped with LED headlights and taillights with dynamic turn signal, alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, paddle shifters, leather seating surfaces, and Apple CarPlay with Android Auto.

There are a few optional packages available as well, which are trim-specific. For the Premium trim, the Convenience package ($1,900) adds auto-dimming and power-folding exterior mirrors, Audi advanced key, park assist, and other features. The Technology package ($2,250) on the Premium Plus adds Audi's virtual cockpit, a bang & Olufsen sound system, and Audi MMI navigation plus. A Black optic sport package ($850) adds black exterior trim and sport suspension.

The 2022 Audi A3 Premium Plus trim is the one we recommend, with the AWD setup. At $39,200, the Premium Plus adds adaptive cruise assist, with Audi advanced key, active lane assist, driver-seat memory settings, and other creature comforts that make an A3 a great place to be in. We also recommend the Audi TechnologyPackage that adds the virtual cockpit and a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D sound.

The 2022 Audi A3 gets a familiar 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine called 40 TFSI which now makes 201 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. This is 17 hp more than the outgoing model. The engine is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch S Tronic transmission that will direct all the power to the front wheels and will come with the option of a Quattro system (AWD) for a premium of $2,000.

The Audi A3's 40 TFSI engine now features a 48-volt mild hybrid system (MHEV) system that provides a boost during start-stop and fills in for torque during low engine speeds. This will also allow the engine to coast with the engine off in many driving situations. There are also talks for a plug-in hybrid variant which may probably bear the e-Tron badge, and is slated for release by next year.

The 2022 Audi A3 claims a 0-60 mph runtime of 6.6 seconds with the FWD setup. With AWD, this time improves by 0.3 seconds at 6.3 seconds. Like the previous generation, the top speed is electronically limited at 130 mph. In terms of driving dynamics, the A3 sees no changes to its precise handling and well-weighted steering. 

Despite the improved engine power output, the Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 and BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe make more power than the 2022 Audi A3, as they make 221 hp and 228 hp respectively. Both the CLA 250 and the 2-Series Gran Coupe make the 258 lb-ft of torque and are also more than the Audi. This converts into a quicker 0-60 mph sprint, by around 0.3 seconds.

The 2022 Audi A3's EPA estimated fuel economy stands at 29 MPG in the city, 38 MPG on the highway, and 32 MPG combined with the FWD setup. With the Quattro AWD, the A3 returns 28 MPG in the city, 36 MPG on the highway, and 31 MPG combined. Annual fuel costs for the A3 are estimated to be around $1,600.

The previous generation A3 came with a 13.2-gallon fuel tank which we expect to be carried forward to the new 2022 A3, even though Audi has not yet revealed all technical specs, but because of the expected higher MPG figures, we do expect a longer driving range when even when compared to the Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 and the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe.

The 2022 Audi A3 comes with a new interior design with the interior being more driver-focused. All screens, haptics, and center console are focused towards the driver and yet it comes with a simple yet sophisticated look. The interior will continue to have space for 5 occupants. The front row seats are heated power-adjustable seats with power lumbar and will come with the option of memory for the driver's seat.

In the back, the rear seats of the A3 are among the most spacious ones found in this segment, with a long 35.2 inches of legroom. Leather upholstery is standard available in two color options - Santos Brown and Parchment Gray come with Steel Gray stitching. We expect the 2022 A3 to come with the same 12.3 cu.ft. trunk capacity.

The 2022 Audi A3 now comes with a new 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen which will feature the latest MIB 3 system, this has been borrowed from Audi's flagship models like the Q8, RS6, and other models. The system is neatly integrated into the dash as compared to mounted on it and is tilted toward the driver. 

The infotainment system will be coupled with a 10.25-inch digital cluster called the virtual cockpit and will have the option of a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit. The Virtual Cockpit will come with three viewing modes - Dynamic, Sport, and Classic. For the first time, the 2022 A3 will come with an optional heads-up display. The 2022 Audi A3 comes with a redesigned exterior that follows the new Dynamic Design language of Audi. The A3 now sports a bolder and wider stance, with sharp lines all around. With the flared front and rear fenders, the sculpted hood, the new single-frame honeycomb mesh grille with LED headlights and air intakes on each side can make you easily mistake the A3 for an S model or RS model. Audi offers the Black Optic package on every configuration that adds blacked out exterior accents.

The 2022 Audi A3 Sedan comes with the newest LED Matrix-design headlights and new LED taillights which have their own animation as an optional feature when locking or unlocking the doors. This feature is seen on the A6 and A7 models as well. We expect Audi's standard range of exterior colors is expected to continue to the 2022 model year. This A3 is more aerodynamic than the previous model. Dimenisionally, the car is longer, wider, and taller than the 2021 model. 

In terms of the exterior dimensions, Audi has not revealed any of those details but as the car does look wider thanks to the flared fenders but, Audi has not revealed any changes, however, Audi does indicate the S3 is a bit wider and longer due to sportier elements on its body. Among the rivals, the BMW is the more compact car overall. Some of the exterior features on the Audi A3 include:

The 2022 Audi A3 comes is based on the latest MQB Evo structure which is also shared with the 2021 Volkswagen Golf (Mk8) which has scored an overall 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA and an overall "good" rating from the IIHS. The previous-generation Audi A3 also scored 5-star from the NHTSA and overall "Good" and Top Safety Pick from the IIHS, we expect the 2022 A3 to come with similar scores. 2022 Audi A3 vs 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250

Both the A3 and the CLA 250 are excellent choices in this segment, and they both offer a powerful engine with a spacious seating for five. The CLA 250 is lighter, and makes more power and torque as well which converts into a quicker performance. The A3 on the other hand is more fuel-efficient, and its rear seats are more comfortable than the Merc's. The A3 is the car we recommend due to its cheaper pricing and a more roomy interior.

2022 Audi A3 vs 2021 BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe

The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe is the ultimate 4dr coupe car to get. Against the A3, this BMW packs in a much more powerful 2.0L engine that makes around a hundred horses extra, and also comes with an extra gear. The 2-Series is significantly lighter as well, which gives it a much better performance than the A3. The A3 on the other hand is easy to drive, more relaxed, more economical, and has better rear legroom. The 2-Series is also quite expensive than the A3, but we still recommend it due to its engaging driving and excellent performance.
