Instead of introducing a new generation model, Caddy replaced the ATS with a much better and appealing CT4 sedan.

The 2022 Cadillac CT4 lineup is really impressive where the allocation of the features and options is wisely done for each trim level. There are three fundamental trims on the 2022 Cadillac CT4 lineup. The base trim is offered at a competitive price where you get a premium exterior design and a luxury interior. The high-end features are offered as optional. With the premium luxury trim, you get better cabin features with various packages. If you want to grab the best value, then you should look for the Sport trim. This one offers advanced driver assistance, seating comfort, a tuned suspension as well as Brembo brakes. For the CT4-V (reviewed separately), we get all the features from the Sport trim. The CT4-V and Premium luxury also add a more powerful engine option.
Being a performance version, the CT4-V has a sporty design with black exterior accents and V series touches to the cabin with logos and upholstery. The 2022 Super Cruise 1 package provides Super Cruise, a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster, leather-wrapped Super Cruise steering wheel, and a 360-degree camera system. The Super Cruise 2 package offers a technology package, front lighting and assist package, navigation and bose premium audio package, climate package, and horn pad including all the features of the Super Cruise 1. The Cold weather package is given on the base and Sport and it adds heated front seats and a heated steering wheel whereas the climate package is reserved for the top two trims and includes all content of the previous package plus ventilated front seats. The front lighting and assist package adds front and rear park assist, LED front lamp turn signals, and LED front cornering lamps. Apart from all the features on the lineup, the new CT4-V Blackwing has a standard 6-speed manual transmission and a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6.

We Suggest
The mid-range Premium Luxury will be our pick for you for a simple reason. It gives the best value for money. It has more standard features and optional packages (including appearance packages) and instead of opting for the Sport trim, we recommend you invest in the options for a better experience.
The new 2022 CT4-V Blackwing trim (base price $58,995) is available in the market while the normal CT4 trims are expected to hit the market by the end of 2021.
The 2022 Cadillac CT4 may seem underpowered at first if you compare it with the ATS which used to offer a better power output. However, the 2.0L turbo inline-4 is not bad with its 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft torque. With an RWD drivetrain, the engine is mated to an 8-Speed automatic transmission as standard. The CT4-V gets a more refined 2.7L turbo inline-4 engine. It churns out 325hp and 380lb-ft torque. With the new CT4-V Blackwing, we'll be getting a Twin-Turbo V6 engine. It will take performance to a new level with 472 horses and a 445 lb-ft of torque. It is either mated to a 6-Speed manual or a 10-Speed automatic transmission. With its base engine, the Cadillac CT4 accelerates from 0 to 60 MPH in 6.2 seconds. Meanwhile, the CT4-V is comparatively faster as it nails 0 to 60 MPH run in just 4.8 seconds The Blackwing is rumored to reach 60 MPH under 3.9 seconds and clock the quarter-mile in 13.2 seconds.
The 2022 CT4 is an agile and fun-to-drive luxury performance sedan. The advanced dynamics and the driver assistance technologies make it more capable and obedient. The CT4 starts with a simple driving experience with its base trim. As we move up towards the V series, the CT4 warms up for better performance and driving impressions. The suspension is updated to give a better leaning response around the corners. The CT4-V offers an adaptive tuned suspension to provide better balance and dynamics. It accelerates way better with the launch control system onboard. The Premium Luxury trim and above offer optional Brembo V performance front brakes. If we talk about the CT4-V, you get standard four-wheel Brembo disc brakes with ABS and slotted discs. With the optional AWD system, more traction and stability is obtained on the highways.

With its base engine, the Cadillac CT4 isn't the fastest sedan in the class. Still, it is capable of giving close competition to its rivals. Still, the BMW 330i takes the lead with its exceptional driving capabilities. The Genesis G70 is not far behind as it is only lagging by 0.1 seconds whereas things aren’t so good for the Lexus IS 300 which does the 0-60 0.7 seconds later than the Cadillac CT4.
The Cadillac CT4 returns 23 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway.. With a combined 27 MPG, it has a favorable response to the different driving conditions. A 17.0-gallon tank allows you to hit the road without thinking twice. The AWD will reduce the fuel economy in the city and on the highway by one and three MPG. The 2.7L engine with RWD provides 21/31/25 MPG in the city, on the highway, and combined respectively. Meanwhile, the AWD with a 2.7L motor cuts out two MPG on the highway. However, the 472 hp V6 powered Blackwing has no regard to mileage with its 15 MPG in the city and just 23 MPG on the highway.

As compared to the rivals, the Cadillac CT4 is the second-best luxury performance sedan in terms of fuel economy. It is beaten by the BMW 330i which has the smallest fuel tank among the bunch. Furthermore, rivals like Genesis G70 and the Lexus IS 300 shares the same fuel efficiency in the city and on the highway but with a bigger fuel tank and slightly higher combined fuel efficiency gives the lead to the IS 300.
The 2022 CT4 offers a spacious cabin with an elegant design crafted out of quality materials. From a simple-looking dashboard on the base Luxury trim, the Cadillac CT4 levels up with a leather-upholstered dashboard with contrast stitching. What makes the dash attractive is the massive 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a center-mounted infotainment display. Despite that, we have plenty of physical controls. The Super Cruise leather-wrapped steering wheel is a new addition. The base trim gets 2-way power lumbar support which can be upgraded to optional 4-way on the middle trim and standard on the topmost trim. Heated steering wheel and heated front seats, both are optional across the trim range.
The rear seating ain't that special as you have a simple split-fold bench seat. Although Cadillac does offer 2-way power-adjustable head restraints for front and rear seats. As it is a premium sedan, the cabin is well equipped with convenient features and options. Standard cabin features include ambient interior lighting, a wireless charging dock, dual-zone automatic climate control, manual day/night rearview mirror, keyless entry and ignition, 3-spoke Leather-wrapped steering wheel, Manual tilt and telescoping steering column, paddle shifters, and remote start. The higher trims add a universal home remote, alloy sport pedal, rotary-jog infotainment controller, and more.

The Cadillac CT4 does offer decent space inside the cabin but it has the least total passenger volume in the competition. The highest one is given inside the BMW 330i and it is followed by the Genesis G70 and then Lexus IS 300. If we compare the trunk/cargo space/capacity, the BMW 330i once again is ahead of the rest and the Genesis G70 takes the last position.
Some of the standout interior features are as follows:
The 2022 Cadillac CT4 comes equipped with an 8.0-inch HD touchscreen display which is supported by the latest Cadillac User Experience (CUE) interface. The system is quick and user-friendly. There are physical buttons as well which makes things easier to control. The connectivity starts with Bluetooth and two USB ports. It also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless device integration. HD radio, SiriusXM with 360L, Natural Voice Recognition, SD card reader, 8-speaker sound system, and Wireless Phone Charging are some other standard features. With an HD radio, GM has packed the CT4 with a SiriusXM 360L all access. The standard audio system consists of 8 premium speakers. The optional package brings Bose a premium surround sound system with 14 speakers. The base trim gets Sun and Sound Package that offers Bose 14-speaker premium Surround Sound audio system and integrated navigation. Meanwhile, the Bose sound system and head-up display are also optional on higher trims.
Some of the highlights of the Infotainment system are as follows:
As the CT4 is a major upgrade from the Cadillac ATS, it looks way more striking and attractive. Cadillac has found a way to retain the classic Caddy design with modern aerodynamics. It still has that sculpted front and back design but is a lot different than the ATS. The CT4-V has a much better styling and enhanced design with the lowered body and the dark theme. The CT4 offers the optional black grille with the emblem at the center. The major difference to the front fascia comes with the sleek LED headlamps and the revised hood lines. The side profile of the CT4 is nothing compared to the CT4-V that has a lowered body and sporty design accents. Chrome trim revolves around the windows and is also given on the door handles.
The 17-inch bright silver finish wheels are standard where you get bigger 18-inch wheels with either Sterling or Nickel silver finish. The sloping rear fascia of the CT4 looks sporty with the small trunk and an optional rear spoiler. The LED taillamps complete the rear design of the car. Also, we have bumper integrated exhaust tips that increase the athletic appeal of the CT4. With the CT4-V, the chrome is replaced with a gloss black theme where you get quad exhausts, custom headlamps and tail lamps, and dark android finish wheels. The Diamond Sky Special Edition Package is reserved for the mid-range trim and adds Exterior Diamond Sky Metallic, 18-inch alloy wheels with Diamond Cut/Midnight Silver finish, color-keyed rocker moldings and extensions rear lower diffuser, Blue calipers, alloy pedals, Brembo V Performance front brakes, and Neutral-density tail lamps with a gray-tinted transparent outer lens with red crystalline inner elements. Lastly, for the 2022 model year, Cadillac has dropped the velocity red, evergreen metallic, and dark moon blue metallic exterior paints.

The Cadillac CT4 weighs around 3,400 pounds and is the lightest one among the bunch with the shortest wheelbase that explains why it lacks in terms of interior space. On the other hand, the BMW 3 Series 330i has the largest wheelbase whereas the Lexus IS 300 is the heaviest sedan in the competition. The Genesis G70 has the widest but has the least height in the segment.
Some of the standout exterior features are as follows:
The Cadillac CT4 is based on the GM Alpha platform. It is constructed with high-strength steel and lightweight aluminum to provide maximum stiffness to the structure by keeping the weight on the lower side. The smart weight distribution ensures sporty handling and proper ride balance. The Cadillac CT4 has not been tested by both NHTSA and IIHS for its safety. The 2022 CT4 has plenty of safety features onboard. A few of them are forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, backup camera, automatic Emergency Braking, LED Reflective Windshield Collision Alert, Rear Seat Reminder, teen driver, and cruise control.
The 2022 Luxury trim now also comes with standard automatic high-beam headlamps, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist. For the new 2022, Cadillac has adaptive cruise control added to the Driver Assist Package (given optional on top two trims) which already has Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, and Reverse Automatic Braking. With features like the Following Distance Indicator, IntelliBeam auto high beam assist, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, the Driver Awareness Plus Package is standard across the 2022 CT4 trim range.
Some of the standout safety features are as follows:
The Genesis G70 is a newcomer in the executive sedan class. With its Kia Stinger genes, it competes well with the other cars. It offers a premium design and top-notch safety and tech. In terms of quality and performance, the G70 is a promising entry-level luxury sedan. The Cadillac CT4, apart from technology and luxury, packs decent performance. With its CT4-V version, Cadillac is setting new standards for the luxury performance class. If the G70 tries to gain the advantage by offering a slightly more spacious cabin, it gets held back because of poor fuel efficiency compared to the G70.
The BMW 3 Series is the most popular and performance-packed luxury sedan in the class. Being a German car, the 330i offers advanced tech, the latest safety, and driver assistance. It is the most fuel-efficient sedan. Also, the 330i doesn't let its economy come in its way of performance. The Cadillac CT4 offers more advanced tech at a more competitive price. To compete properly with the BMW 3 Series, Cadillac has introduced the CT4-V Blackwing that makes it a tough contender against the BMW M3 with advanced dynamics.
Lexus IS 300 is known for its reliability and performance. The new generation model offers enhanced performance and an appealing design. Lexus makes good use of technology to deliver a well-packed performance sedan with ultimate luxury. The Cadillac CT4 offers the best value in terms of performance and features. You can count on the CT4 with its mileage and driver assistance features. With its Super Cruise steering and a driver-focused cabin, the CT4 is fully loaded.
There are hardly any flaws in the Cadillac CT4. It has got a charming exterior design and a comfortable interior. It has ample features and driving capabilities are also excellent. But we would recommend going for the BMW 3 Series provided you don’t mind the higher price tag. Why? The answer is simple. The 330i offers everything that CT4 possesses. In addition to that, the economy, practicality, and performance of the 330i surpass the CT4. However, If you consider the whole package, then you'll realize that the Cadillac CT4 is in for a long haul at a cheaper price. Hence, everything comes down to your budget.
