Overall Rating
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade retains most of the specs from its generational change in 2021. The biggest change for this year is the introduction of a 620 hp supercharged model along with the standard 420 hp 6.2L V8 engine. Packed with a luxurious interior, the highlight is the 38-inch curved OLED dashboard with overlapping screens. All set for release in late 2021, the 2022 Escalade will be available for sale in 5 trim levels with an MSRP ranging between $76,195 and $104,595.
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade returns this year with minimal changes from last year's much-needed overhaul in both features and design. With the same 5 trim configurations as 2021 MY, the prices for the 2022 Escalade start from an MSRP of $77,990 and go over to $103,290 for the top-of-the-line Sport Platinum trim. Cadillac has made a few changes to the Escalade for this year, some of which include standard Lane-keeping assist and Lane-departure warning on the Luxury trim, while Puddle lamps with Cadillac crest are standard on the Platinum trim.
Further, three new exterior color shades including the Mahogany Metallic add to the color palette. The Premium Luxury, Sport, and Platinum trim now come standard with GM's Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving feature along with front and rear automated emergency braking. Buckle to Drive is now standard across the range. Coming with the same 420 hp 6.2L V8 powertrain as the 2021 Escalade, customers have the option to choose between RWD and AWD configurations right from the base Escalade Luxury trim. Rivals for the Cadillac Escalade include the Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes Benz GLS 450, and the BMW X7.
Cadillac’s lineup has a lot of features that are rather a necessity for the segment and seeing all this, we’d recommend the Premium Luxury trim due to the perfect balance of price and features this trim brings in. This trim adds in useful features like adaptive air suspension and Cadillac’s Super Cruise, while also opening the possibility of opting for the Driver Assist Tech package and Performance package to customize the driving characteristics of the SUV.

All the trims come with the same powertrain unit, and they can also further be had with two drivetrain options.
For the standard list of features, the company has made a lane-keeping assist and lane-departure warning a standard feature, while the higher trims get Cadillac's Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving feature along with automated emergency braking in both front and rear.

2022 Cadillac Escalade Trims and Configurations>>
Out of the 5 varied trim variants that the 2022 Cadillac Escalade has on offer, we recommend going for the Premium Luxury trim for an MSRP of $86,590. The said trim is considerably packed with all the premium features one could hope from a full SUV of this size, and doesn't skimp out on the major convenience features. Further, we also suggest looking into the array of optional packages that Cadillac offers, as they can spruce up the SUV according to the interest of the buyers.
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade drives like a huge SUV, but it carries its girth quite well - Kelly Blue Book
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade retains the small block 6.2L naturally aspirated V8. The motor is good enough to churn out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. For a select few who travel more than usual, a 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 diesel engine is also available. This diesel engine is capable enough to churn out 277 hp but churns out the same torque figure of 460 lb-ft. Both the powertrains come hooked up to a 10-speed automatic transmission that can put power on the wheels via the RWD or 4WD drivetrain.
The biggest change this year will be the debut of the supercharged 620 hp engine with the first ever 2022 Cadillac Escalade V. Though the ride is not made for it, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade is capable enough to go from 0-60 mph in 6-seconds. The quarter-mile comes up in 14.4 seconds from a standstill. To keep up with this performance streak, the ride gets ventilated disc brakes. Thanks to these, the 2022 Escalade can stop from 60-0 mph at a distance of 121 feet.

Compared to the others, the BMW X7 is the least powerful but manages to occupy the top spot in the 0-60 mph sprint. The Lincoln Navigator is the most powerful one, yet is left struggling in the second place in terms of acceleration times. The Mercedes Benz GLS-Class manages to hold its own, however, still has ground to cover in terms of quarter-mile time.
Despite the push for electric mobility and hybridization, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade will still be a conventionally engine-powered vehicle. This small-block V8 is a full-blown gas guzzler in all regards. With the 2022 Escalade RWD drivetrain, you get 15 MPG in the city, 20 MPG on the highway, and 17 MPG combined. Opt for the 4WD drivetrain, and the MPG figures drop by 1 MPG across all aspects.

Thankfully, in both configurations, the fuel tank capacity stays constant at 24-gallons. This allows you to get an overall driving range of 408 miles after a full refuel. Though the 2022 Escalade V is yet to make its debut, don't expect the more powerful engine to become fuel-efficient. By normal standards, the MPG figures will sit somewhere near 13 MPG or 12 MPG in the city.
The Escalade also serves as the hotbed of GM's vehicle tech. You won't find items like a dash-spanning OLED display in any other GM vehicle - Edmunds
Even though there is not much change on the feature front compared to 2021, the interior of the 2022 Escalade is a very nice place to be in. The lower trims get a rather unimpressive faux leather interior while the Platinum models get semi-aniline leather. However, if you hop on to the Sport Platinum trim that's worth $103,290, Palermo quilted leather is the standard fitment. All the seats of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade are amply spacious and comfortable.
Tall passengers might find it a struggle in the third row due to 34.6-inches of legroom, but average-sized fellas will be amply comfortable. The highlight of the interior is the 38-inch curved OLED dashboard. This houses the 16.9-inch infotainment screen, 14.2-inch digital driver display, and the 7.2-inch control panel, all overlapped over each other. Overall, Cadillac has made all arrangements to make sure that the 2022 Escalade is well worth the investment and makes you feel like a million bucks with its grand appeal.

The massive 16.9-inch infotainment system on the dashboard is quite intuitive and easy to get used to. The UI is responsive and does not need a whole lot of a learning curve to be used seamlessly. Thanks to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Real-Time 3D Navigation, and the 19-speaker AKG sound system, every travel is a great experience. For music lovers, the sound system gets upgraded to a 36-speaker AKG sound system in the top-tier Platinum trims.
The Escalade's exterior draws inspiration from the gorgeous Escala concept car scaled up to size XXL and adapted to the Escalade's boxy silhouette - Car and Driver
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade retains the sleek and suave styling cues from its generational change in 2021. Riding on 20-inch wheels as standard, the 2022 Escalade is a massive 8-inches above the ground at its lowest. At the front, you also get the majestic grille, LED Headlamps, and a grand hood, all backed by a behemoth silhouette.
Move to the side, and though the 2022 Cadillac Escalade has an overall boxy build, it is curved in the right places. The lines flow smoothly towards the back where it meets the long LED taillamps, a signature Escalade trait. Even from the back, the ride manages to retain its astute road presence.

In the competition with other full-size SUVs, the 2022 Escalade is simply the longest in the class. The Lincoln Navigator is the only one that comes close in terms of dimensions. While it may not look like it, the BMW X7 is actually the lightest one and the most compactly built. The GLS-Class is also not very big compared to the Americans, however, it is slightly bigger than the Bimmer.

The 2022 Escalade is a carryover with almost no changes aside from a few things like a standard Buckle to Drive safety feature - Kelly Blue Book
The 2021 Cadillac Escalade has already been crash-tested by the NHTSA and carries a near-perfect 4-star safety rating. The IIHS, however, has not crash-tested the 2021 Escalade yet. Seeing that the 2022 Cadillac Escalade will not be changing things structurally, the same safety ratings are pegged to continue. Further for 2022, Cadillac has also brought about a few changes to the safety quotient, which includes Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning being offered as standard on the Luxury trim, and the Buckle to Drive feature being standard across the trim lineup.
The standout safety features that the 2022 Escalade will offer are:
The BMW X7 is one of the most sought-after luxury SUVs in the segment thanks to its sublime cues of luxury, performance, and tech. Despite being dimensionally smaller than the Escalade and offering a tad less interior space, the X7 does have a commanding road presence.
However, despite being luxurious and capable, the X7 still can't match the opulence one gets while sitting inside the Escalade. That being said, the X7 is a benchmark for safety and driver tech in the business which the Escalade is slowly gaining ground in.
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator is in true essence the true soulful rival of the Escalade. Dimensionally similar, the Lincoln Navigator stands out in terms of both road presence, and interior luxury. Furthermore, the cabin space of the Navigator feels much more usable as compared to the Escalade which stuffs the maximum space in the front row.
What's even promising is the highly compact yet efficient motor packed inside the Lincoln that is no slouch. Choosing among these two vehicles comes down to personal preference as each ride is equipped with the might to one-up each other.
With prices starting at just $77,990, the 2022 Escalade retains its premium vibe and stays true to its roots. Backed by a powerful engine, and a spectacularly built interior, it is the perfect chariot for everyone. For those who still find it lacking, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV is also available with more space and a more gigantic road presence. For anyone looking for a full-size SUV, then the 2022 Cadillac Escalade should definitely be on the consideration list. But if you are not planning to wait for the 620 hp 2022 Escalade V, then a used Cadillac Escalade, or a brand new 2021 Cadillac Escalade for sale will be a better option.
