Overall Rating
The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray comes at a price tag of $62,195 for the base 1LT trim and gets only minor internal changes this year. Apart from that, the specs remain the same but there is a new optional appearance package available for the 3LT trim. It can do 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 185 MPH, even without the Z51 package.
The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette carries forward mechanically unchanged from last year and is available for sale at a price of $60,900 for the base 1LT trim. This excludes a $1,295 destination charge that Chevy levies on the Corvette. All trims get the same powertrain specs and can do 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 185 MPH. This year, Chevy is offering a limited edition appearance package for the top 3LT trim to celebrate the inaugural year of the C8.R race car, along with three new color options.
There is also a track-ready Z51 performance package available that makes the Stingray even faster and brings down its 0-60 mph timing to just 2.8 seconds. On the other hand, the Stingray convertible costs $69,695 but is also slower than the coupe. All configurations get only RWD as standard with no option available for an AWD drivetrain. In this segment, the Stingray competes against other sports coupe cars like the Jaguar F-Type R, Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, and the Toyota Supra.Â
The mid-level 2LT trim seems to be the most value-for-money trim here. It offers a tremendous features list to satisfy all your expectations is not very expensive when compared to the base version. If you intend to take your Vette to the track frequently, the Z51 pack will make you a winner more often than not.

"Ferrari moves and incandesant performance with a Chevrolet price tag makes the Corvette C8 a hugely desirable sports car, one with mass appeal." - Caranddriver

"The Corvette is bonkers fast, it handles beautifully, and it still manages traffic and daily errand." - Edmunds
The latest iteration of the Corvette gets the same mid-engine layout without any changes made to its powertrain. The 2022 Corvette is powered by a 6.2L LT4 naturally aspirated V8 engine that is mated to an 8-speed DCT automatic transmission. It generates 490 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels as standard. The optional Z51 performance package gets you a performance suspension, performance exhaust, electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and upgraded brakes for improved performance.
The Z51 also increases the power output by another 5 hp while the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires offer immense grip at launch, due to the weight transfer at rear wheels. The dual-clutch transmission is quick and smooth to shift gears, and the stock exhaust note could have been better. In terms of handling, the mid-engine Corvette shows some signs of understeer which can be rectified by switching off the traction control. The standard suspension is a bit stiff by the magnetic ride suspension from the Z51 is more comfortable yet sportier.
When it comes to performance, the 2022 Corvette Stingray manages to hit 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds which is brought down to 2.9 seconds with the Z51 package. It crosses the chequered flag at the end of the quarter-mile in just 11.8 seconds as standard and 11.2 seconds with the Z51 package. It also goes all the way up to a top speed of 194 MPH with the Z51, while it is limited to 184 MPH as standard.

With massive power and torque reserves available from its supercharged V8, the Jaguar F-Type R is clearly the fastest in this comparison, not by a huge margin though. The Corvette Stingray is only fractionally slower but Jaguar offers AWD as standard. While both the Porsche 718 and Toyota Supra are just a whisker behind the Corvette, the handling of the Porsche is unmatched. The Supra is the cheapest one here while the F-Type R is the priciest.
"Fuel economy is impressive for a car that delivers this levels of athleticism, especially considering the Corvette's non-turbo high-displacement V8." - Motortrend
It is obvious that sports cars are not good at offering exemplary fuel economy due to their high-performance nature and the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is no exception. It returns a maximum of 24 MPG on the highways and offers a combined 19 miles to the gallon. The large 18.5-gallon fuel tank allows it to traverse a maximum range of well over 400 miles while also returning roughly 350 miles combined.

The Toyota Supra with its BMW sourced inline-6 engine is the most frugal of the lot. It returns about 6 MPG more combined than the Corvette Stingray. The Porsche manages to somewhat match the fuel efficiency ratings of the Stingray while the F-Type R has the highest fuel consumption. Overall, it is the Corvette that offers the longest driving range due to its larger gas tank, while the Cayman has the shortest range to offer, though by a very small range.
"The Covette goes like a stink, has a refined & well-built interior and will cost you half as much as a Porsche 911." - Carbuzz
The interior of the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is purely designed with a driver-centric approach. It looks like the cockpit of a fighter plane, especially with the long & narrow strip vertical strip of switches on the center console. Also, the infotainment screen is tilted towards the driver and there is a sporty steering wheel offered as standard. Even the base trim gets leather upholstered seats with red accent stitching. On the top trim, you get GT2 sport seats and premium leather upholstery.
You can also opt for competition-style bucket seats in all the trims. On the interior space front, the Corvette Stingray offers seating for only 2 people has decent space for seating. There is enough headroom and legroom on offer to accommodate most Americans rather well. Getting in and out is pretty simple too, provided you are fine with stooping down to get inside the cabin. Surprisingly, the Corvette also boasts of pretty spacious cargo space of 12.6 cubic feet.Â

In comparison, almost all three competitors of the 2022 Corvette Stingray have similar legroom on offer. The Jaguar is about an inch short in terms of headroom while the Toyota Supra and Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, both offer a much smaller trunk. That said, Porsche also has roughly 5 cu-ft of additional space in its front trunk. The small 8-inch infotainment display is where the Corvette lack against its rivals since it feels relatively mediocre in terms of graphics and resolution.
There is a touchpad on the center console that controls the infotainment screen apart from the touchscreen functionality. With the exception of low-res graphics, the interface is pretty intuitive to use and also offers quick voice commands that work pretty well. Standard features include a digital instrument panel, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto smartphone integration, a fully digital 12-inch driver information screen, and additional memory for in-vehicle apps.Â

"Creased and cut like a European supercar, but bulging at the rear with American muscle, the 2022 Corvette commands attention." - Thecarconnection
The current generation 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is Chevrolet’s first take on a mid-engine supercar and it looks exotic. It gets shapes and design cues that are inspired by European mid-engine supercars and adds the Corvette traits to make it look unique and arresting. The front fascia looks very European angular headlights and a low front splitter. The muscular rear end and with dual twin exhaust pipes along with a flatter rear spoiler that flaunts the American muscle.
It rides on 19-inch wheels up front and 20-inch wheels at the rear and also gets Carbon flash exterior accents. One can also choose from 3 other sets of wheels that range from $995 to $1,495 along with a performance exhaust setup for another $1,595. Chevy offers plenty of customization options with 8 different standard colors, 4 different premium colors along with a range of stripes & decals to satisfy your personalization tastes, prices of all of which range from $495 to $995.

In terms of size and dimensions, the Chevy Corvette Stingray is the largest 2-seat coupe in this comparison. Yet it manages to keep its weight in check and also offers a spacious cabin and trunk. The F-Type is the heaviest of the lot due to its large supercharged V8 under its hood. The 718 Cayman rides lowest to the ground which is only marginally better by the Jaguar. The Supra is the most petite car here and rides about an inch lower than the Stingray.
"If the Corvette is unable to compensate for the error of your ways, you'll be glad for the available safety features." - Cargurus
Like most low-volume and high-value sports cars, the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe hasn’t gone through any crash tests yet. That said, Chevrolet has added a lot of safety features as standard which increases as you go up the trim ladder. The Corvette uses an all-new aluminum architecture to keep the weight down and although limited, offers a decent number of driver aids. Some of the standouts standard and optional safety features include:
The Jaguar F-Type-R is powered by a supercharged V8 engine upfront and gets a rumbling exhaust note. It is the only car in its class with a front engine. Although it is more powerful than the Corvette, it lacks behind in terms of performance. When it comes to exterior styling, both these cars have their own personality and charm. However, the Corvette Stingray is the most value-for-money car among the two and should be the preferred choice.
The Porsche 718 Cayman is substantially pricier than the Stingray but has lesser power and torque output. That said, the compact Porsche is almost as quick as the Corvette in the straight line and is a far better handling car. It is equally efficient and has a similar space inside its cabin. Though the Corvette has a pretty premium cabin, it cannot match up with the Porsche. Therefore, the Cayman GTS feels worth the additional investment and should be the pick here.
The Toyota Supra employs a BMW engine and yet manages to keep the prices in check. It is pretty quick and is very fuel-efficient as well. The cabin and trunk space is comparable as well, but it falls a bit short in terms of the technology it has to offer. Also, it does not offer the novelty and sports car charm of a Corvette. The Stingray leads the pack in terms of acceleration, design and technology and therefore should be the pick between the two.
Is it worth going for the 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 over the Corvette Stingray? Find out!
The new iteration of the Corvette has become more enthusiastic to drive and handle. Although some versions of its previous generation Corvettes are more powerful, it is not as fun to drive as the new Corvette Stingray. Priced competitively, it is the bang for your buck in its class. If you are looking for your first supercar at the price of a family luxury sedan, then the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray could just be the perfect choice.
